Asgard’s Grand Family Drama: Forcing the King to Abdicate
Hela, do you know?
My father once said that when trouble came, you could never just sit and wait to die…
The words Beckett had once spoken echoed relentlessly beside Hela’s ears. Having directly summoned weapons and gunned down every prison guard, Hela stared at the only exit, her boots stepping in time with her heartbeat as she walked out.
Though she despised that daddy’s boy Beckett’s whole "my father once said" routine, Hela had to admit that those very words had helped her make up her mind.
The determination not to sit and wait for death.
"Now, Father, I’m back."
"With the determination to overthrow you."
Boom!!!!!
The disturbance from the royal palace drew the attention of virtually every Asgardian in an instant.
A dense mass of weapons formed an iron dragon that shot into the sky, reducing a side hall of the Asgardian palace to ruins in the blink of an eye!
"What was that?!"
"Had it begun?!"
Thor, who had been drinking at his residence, spotted the figure standing atop the iron dragon’s head with his excellent eyesight. He flipped off the roof in one motion.
"Thor!"
"What are you looking at?!"
"Hurry up!"
"We need to go!"
Rocket Raccoon, who had waited a long time for this moment, leaped onto Thor’s shoulder and shouted into his ear, dragging his attention away from Hela.
Hela’s rebellion had happened exactly as recorded in the secret dossier. Next, all they had to do was wait by the Bifrost for someone.
Or rather, wait for a cat.
"Hurry, hurry!"
The seemingly frail Rocket forcibly dragged the burly man toward the Bifrost. Along the way, everyone they saw was either dumbfounded or terrified by the iron dragon beneath Hela’s feet.
"Hela?"
"How was this possible?!"
Naturally, Odin and Frigga in the main hall could not remain indifferent to the anomaly at the side hall.
"Darling, there must be—there must be some misunder—"
Completely panicked, Frigga turned to calm Odin down, only to discover that she could no longer catch hold of her husband’s hand.
"No! Odin!"
Clang!
Gungnir, symbol of Asgardian royal authority, descended from the heavens at Odin’s command. Odin, his white robes billowing, appeared before every Asgardian.
"Hela!"
"Get back to your prison!"
"Now!"
His booming voice erupted like thunder. Enraged, Odin had utterly overturned the image he usually presented to the people of Asgard.
"I refuse!"
"This is my determination, Father."
Red light flickered in Hela’s eyes, yet she still retained the respect a daughter ought to have for her father.
"This is the determination I want you to see—mine, and that of all Asgardians!"
"We Asgardians will never sign some so-called peace treaty!"
"Because that is absolutely not the peace we want!"
A peace treaty?
A peace treaty with Jotunheim!
Hela’s resounding words made Thor, who had been running toward the Bifrost, stop involuntarily. He suddenly turned to look at the two figures confronting each other beneath the sky.
His father and his sister.
"This is merely your wishful thinking, Hela."
"This is my final warning. Do not make me say it a third time."
"Now, go back. Return to your prison!"
Never having been challenged like this before, Odin’s face darkened. The actions of the daughter before him left him utterly shocked.
At the beginning of his reign as king of Asgard, he had imagined many possible people who might challenge his royal authority. But he had never imagined that his own biological daughter would one day treat him this way.
Coupled with Hela’s earlier unauthorized mobilization of troops, the anger in Odin’s heart was easy to imagine.
"You really have gone senile, Odin."
After a long silence, after staring into Odin’s eyes for a long time, the expressionless Hela finally responded.
The last trace of expectation in her heart had been personally snuffed out by Odin’s rage, and even the way she addressed him had changed.
She called Odin by name.
"Do you know what you’re doing, Hela?!"
His sharp rebuke and angry expression. Yet Odin, gripping Gungnir, no longer seemed tall in Hela’s eyes.
No longer mighty.
"This should never have happened, Father."
"We Asgardians are the finest race in the Nine Realms!"
"We Asgardians are destined to stand at the summit of the Nine Realms. This was the belief you personally instilled in me when I was young!"
"Over these years, we have fought so many battles. What were they for?"
"And those warriors who died in the flames of war—what did they die for?!"
"It was you who betrayed us, who betrayed Asgard!!!"
"Not me!!!!"
The mingling of agitation and fury made Hela’s body tremble uncontrollably.
Her near-roaring questions were clearly carried into the hearts of every Asgardian looking up at the sky.
"I cannot make peace with the people of Jotunheim!"
I cannot make peace with the people of Jotunheim!
Hela’s furious roar was like an invisible sword that plunged straight into Odin’s chest.
"We cannot make peace with the people of Jotunheim either!!!"
Following Hela’s words, the impassioned roars of tens of thousands rose in perfect unison, as though they had been planned in advance, charging into the heavens with unstoppable force!
"We cannot make peace with the people of Jotunheim either!!!"
"We cannot make peace with the people of Jotunheim either!!!"
Again and again.
The fervent roars made the scalp of every silent Asgardian tingle.
Including Thor, seeing this scene for the first time, and the raccoon beside him.
"Unbelievable. Didn’t you say your sister was a cruel, heartless homicidal maniac? Why does she have such overwhelming support in Asgard?"
"Thor?"
Stunned, Thor stared fixedly at the shapely figure in midair and did not answer for a long time.
"This is the will of the people."
"This is the will of our Asgardian people, Father."
Dressed in a black bodysuit, Hela stood atop the iron dragon with her arms spread wide, like a queen reigning over the world.
Claiming the throne with the people’s will behind her and making her senile father abdicate to enjoy his old age was a decision Hela had made in just the past few days.
Fortunately, her former adjutant Kyl Mashah and the soldiers she had once commanded were all willing to support her.
She was not alone on the path of rebellion and kingship.
"Outrageous!!!"
For the first time in his life, Odin was being forced to abdicate. His cheeks flushed red with rage, and veins bulged across the back of the hand gripping Gungnir.
An event in which a king was forced to abdicate—something that had never happened since Asgard’s founding—was actually happening to him today!
"This is not outrageous, Father."
"You are old. This peace treaty alone has proven that you are no longer fit to lead Asgard forward."
"Now, I am Asgard’s new king!"
Drunk out of my mind…
I went to a birthday party and actually drank so much that a girl took me back to the hotel. So embarrassing…
I was supposed to be the one bringing the drinks. I bragged that I was the drinking immortal of Yuexiu District, but got my face slapped swollen instead…
I actually couldn’t outdrink two women!!!
Damn it!!!
My head is still buzzing…
Normal updates will resume tomorrow…
