Awakening for the First Time
When Sabretooth saw an unfamiliar silver-haired kid sizing him and Clarice up with "ill intent," he immediately put on a ferocious expression and warned Richard with his eyes and face.
Although Clarice was not his biological daughter but an adopted one, he was no different from any other father. He cared greatly about other men setting their sights on Clarice.
Of course, he also knew that Clarice was indeed very beautiful, a genuine beautiful woman who easily drew the attention of the opposite sex.
But that did not mean he would allow others to harbor designs on Clarice.
As a man who had lived for nearly two hundred years, he knew all too well what indecent thoughts young men would have after seeing Clarice.
Over the past few years, as Clarice had grown increasingly lovely, he had dealt with plenty of men who had ill intentions toward her.
After noticing Sabretooth’s warning glare, Richard shrugged, withdrew his gaze, and continued enjoying the lunch before him.
Sabretooth and Clarice then went over to sit by the window.
After finishing lunch, Richard was preparing to leave the restaurant when a black Chevrolet sport utility vehicle and two black armored vehicles pulled up outside.
He frowned slightly when he saw the insignias on the vehicles.
Each of those vehicles bore the emblem of the Department of Mutant Affairs.
That meant the people inside were either Department of Mutant Affairs agents or Special Forces Members.
Richard was not the only one who noticed the three vehicles.
Sabretooth and Clarice, as well as the other diners in the restaurant, noticed them too.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, the door of the Chevrolet sport utility vehicle at the front opened, and three people—two men and one woman—stepped out.
Both men wore ordinary jackets and shirts, and there was nothing particularly remarkable about them.
The woman’s attire, however, was somewhat unconventional—or rather, out of place.
The woman, who looked to be only in her early thirties, had voluminous wavy blonde hair, a curvaceous figure, and a seductive face.
Yet that was not what drew the most attention.
What truly caught everyone’s eye was her outfit.
The hot-bodied blonde wore a form-fitting, deep-V, backless long dress resembling an evening gown, exposing large swaths of fair skin across her chest and back.
More importantly, the hem of the dress was very short, stopping at mid-thigh and revealing her long, shapely legs.
As she walked, the hem swayed slightly, exuding an unabashed sensual charm.
Upon seeing the blonde woman, most of the male customers in the restaurant unconsciously swallowed.
More precisely, aside from Richard and Sabretooth, all of them wore greedy, feverish expressions, looking as though they wanted to immediately pin the blonde woman to the ground and ravish her.
The two men and one woman were none other than Inessa’s group, who had received orders to head to the estate and capture Richard and the others.
Richard did not know Inessa, but he was certain of one thing: aside from himself and Sabretooth, every other male customer in the restaurant had been affected by Inessa’s superpower.
When he looked Inessa over like everyone else, the Mental Isolation ability he had Plundered from Noel helped him block the mental influence coming from her.
Unlike Telepathy, which had to be actively used, Mental Isolation was a passive ability that blocked the effects of other Mind Abilities.
Richard was immune to Inessa’s influence because of Mental Isolation.
Sabretooth’s method, on the other hand, was much simpler and more direct.
With a will far stronger than an ordinary person’s, forged over nearly two hundred years of life, he forcibly endured Inessa’s mental influence.
Though neither Richard nor Sabretooth had been affected by Inessa’s ability, both of them had a bad feeling.
Or rather, they both believed Inessa had come to capture them.
After Inessa’s group got out of the vehicle, the doors of the two armored vehicles behind them slowly opened as well.
A squad of fully armed soldiers stepped out.
At the sight of those soldiers, Richard and Sabretooth rose to their feet at the same time and prepared for battle.
Their movements immediately drew the attention of Inessa’s group and the soldiers behind them.
Then, surprised expressions appeared on their faces.
Richard Wesley? Inessa’s group had indeed been on their way to the estate to capture Richard and the others, but they had never expected to encounter Richard here.
Though she was somewhat surprised, after spotting Richard, Inessa pointed at Sabretooth and said to Slater and Bourne:
"Take care of him. Richard Wesley is mine."
As teammates from the same division, Slater and Bourne knew exactly what Inessa had in mind.
However, neither of them objected to her arrangement.
They did not care in the slightest whether Richard would be toyed with until he was barely human.
They only cared whether this mission could be completed smoothly.
Without any hesitation, Slater and Bourne pushed open the restaurant doors and headed toward Sabretooth and Clarice.
As for Inessa, she strode toward Richard in nearly ten-centimeter stilettos, every movement brimming with seductive charm.
What was this woman trying to do?
Richard looked at Inessa in confusion.
Although Inessa was walking toward him, Richard could not sense any killing intent or fighting spirit from her.
Aside from Mental Isolation constantly sounding warnings and reminding him that Inessa was using a Mind Ability on him, she looked as though she had come specifically to ask him out.
Though he did not know what Inessa was planning, Richard did not waste any brainpower trying to guess. He simply raised his left hand.
Masamune!
With a thought, the Masamune stored in the System Space instantly appeared in his hand.
After summoning the Masamune, he did not hesitate and immediately slashed at her.
At this moment, he did not use skills such as Octaslash or Ground Shock. He merely swung an ordinary slash.
The over-two-meter-long Masamune streaked through the air like lightning, reaching Inessa in the blink of an eye.
Just as the Masamune was about to slice across Inessa’s neck and completely sever her head, an invisible Shockwave appeared out of thin air and struck the blade.
Bang! The tremendous impact knocked the Masamune away!
"You’re so ruthless at such a young age. It seems Older Sister will have to teach you a proper lesson."
Inessa’s soft, enticing voice rang out.
Flash!
Richard ignored Inessa and immediately used Flash.
He was not using Flash to flee, but to fight outside the restaurant.
Though he could have fought inside the restaurant with the Masamune, the restaurant’s surroundings could not compare to an open area.
Under Inessa’s gaze, he vanished instantly, moving from the restaurant to the outside.
Summon Long Blade and Flash? Were those the superpowers you had awakened? No!
You had awakened more than just two abilities. You also had a Mind Ability capable of resisting Mental Charm! Inessa wore a surprised expression after seeing Richard disappear.
According to what the original owner’s father had said, Richard had not awakened any superpowers.
Yet now, not only had he summoned the over-two-meter-long Masamune right in front of Inessa, he had also used the Flash ability Plundered from Luther.
More importantly, despite being a vigorous young man, he had not been affected by Mental Charm at all.
After seeing the Masamune he had summoned from thin air, Inessa, who did not know the truth, naturally assumed that the Masamune was one of his awakened superpowers as well.
He had gained three abilities upon his initial awakening?
This trip had not been in vain!
A meaningful, satisfied smile appeared on Inessa’s face.
The next second, her figure disappeared as well, and she instantly arrived outside the restaurant.
More precisely, she appeared before Richard, who was slaughtering the Special Forces Members.
