Battle at the Base

The huge commotion on the right made Colleen a little worried. She asked, "There’s no one over there, right? I just became the Iron Fist, and I still can’t control my strength properly."

Pepper looked into the distance and said with a smile, "Don’t worry. If I remember correctly, that direction should be where that candidate’s hotel was nearly finished. No one’s there."

"That candidate’s hotel? Then it’s fine."

Hearing that, everyone stopped caring. Electro even said, "He’s really unlucky. His hotel actually got smashed by a meteorite."

"Too unlucky. Of course, maybe he’d done too many bad things and got what was coming to him."

Wind Demon nodded repeatedly. Peter looked at everyone shirking responsibility and asked hesitantly, "Isn’t this bad?"

"Do you want to use your money to compensate him for the hotel?"

Absorbing Man asked, "That’s money you and Harry earned with great difficulty by selling your bodies."

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

Peter’s face turned bright red with anger. Harry viciously flipped everyone off, deciding that he needed to find a girlfriend as soon as he got back so Peter would not have to suffer such an "unearned accusation."

At that moment, a massive boom came from nearby. Everyone turned to see Ghost Rider being brutally blasted into the ground by Annie, while Ghost Rider’s armor floated quietly off to the side.

Ghost Rider’s armor had been made by Osborn Corporation. Osborn Corporation could control it remotely, though only Wang Bert, Mercury, and Ivan had that authority.

Just now, Annie had asked Mercury to seize control of Ghost Rider’s armor at a critical moment. Then, while he was off guard, she had blasted him into the ground with Holy Flame.

Ghost Rider roared, but he could not get back up because Annie’s Holy Flame was madly devouring the Hellfire on his body.

"His strength might have increased, but his intelligence has dropped badly."

Annie shook her head and tossed the gem into Ghost Rider’s eye socket. Damon’s soul immediately returned to his body and began fighting the Spirit of Vengeance for control.

Damon had received instruction from Ancient One, and his soul was relatively powerful. Before long, he suppressed the Spirit of Vengeance.

Then Damon shouted, "Annie, take back the Holy Flame, or I won’t dare change back."

Annie did not waste words. With a lift of her hand, the Holy Flame and all the surrounding fire flew back into her body. Damon sighed in relief, and the flames on his body quickly vanished as his skull turned back into a human face.

Damon, wearing pajamas, climbed to his feet while clutching his chest. "Annie, your Holy Flame is really powerful."

"Obviously."

Annie gave a proud snort. She glanced at the corpses of the Reincarnated Angels on the ground, then beat her wings and flew toward the distant hotel—she wanted to confirm whether Moro was truly dead.

"So arrogant."

Damon shook his head. Just then, Mindy ran over and asked worriedly, "Dad, are you okay?"

Damon smiled. "I’m fine, just a little cold."

Mindy said disdainfully, "Ghost Rider saying he’s cold? Now that’s a cold joke."

Damon laughed, then turned to look at the heavily pregnant Pepper. A faint fire flickered in his eyes.

The Spirit of Vengeance was not the only one who had developed killing intent. So had he.

Pepper keenly sensed Damon’s killing intent. She turned her head and looked at him without fear. "I don’t know whether the child in my belly is Mephisto reincarnated, but I will protect him. And I will raise him to be a good person."

"Some people can never become good, like Mephisto."

Damon said, "He is even more evil than Loki of Asgard. Ms. Pepper, I think you should give him up."

Pepper said firmly, "No. I will never give him up, and I won’t let anyone touch him."

Sensing the shift in atmosphere, Electro and the others immediately moved to protect Pepper. Damon frowned and said, "Guys, that’s Mephisto. Aren’t you worried?"

"No matter how worried we are, we can’t kill an unborn baby."

Peter shook his head repeatedly. Harry’s eyes flickered slightly. To be honest, he leaned toward killing the baby. After all, he had witnessed Mephisto’s cruelty and terror firsthand.

"Dad, you’re not cool at all. So what if it really is Mephisto?"

Mindy shouted, "There are so many of us watching him. Can he really turn the world upside down? Even if he can, we can just kill him then, right?

He’s only a Demon King of Hell. There are several Demon Kings of Hell working for my master. What’s the big deal?"

Everyone was speechless. Even Pepper did not know whether to praise or scold Mindy. Put that way, Mephisto really did not seem like such a big deal.

"I’m starting to believe Mr. Wang is God reincarnated. Otherwise, how could he subdue so many Demon Kings of Hell?"

Absorbing Man said, "I heard Hulk has been fighting in Hell lately, and his strength is growing rapidly."

"I’m going too after a while. I need to break through my limits, or I’ll forever just be a battery."

Electro said unwillingly. To break through, he had to turn himself into a generator.

Absorbing Man said, "I’ll go with you."

"Looks like I really wasn’t being very cool."

Damon looked at everyone and finally let go of his killing intent. He patted Mindy’s head and said, "Let’s talk about something cool. You sneaked out. How much math homework are you planning to do?"

"That’s not cool at all! I saved everyone, so why do I still have to do homework? Especially the most annoying math homework! Dad, whoever invented math must have committed terrible sins. Go burn them to death."

Mindy stomped her foot in dissatisfaction. Everyone burst into laughter, and the tense atmosphere immediately vanished.

Pepper could not help letting out a sigh of relief, but she also knew this was only the beginning. Keeping this son safe would not be easy.

Son, you haven’t even been born yet, and you’re already making life difficult for your mother.

Pepper sighed inwardly. At that moment, Annie flew back with the Angel Greatsword in hand and said, "That Moro has been completely annihilated."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s great. Honestly, that guy was pretty frightening."

"Too obsessed, too fanatical."

Annie shook her head. Looking at the ordinary people outside the Defense Shield, she said, "I’m leaving first. You can clean up the battlefield yourselves."

With that, Annie vanished. She had entered the Mirror Dimension where Wang Bert was. She glanced at the battle beyond the space gate and said to Wang Bert, "Master, the battle here is over. The angels have been completely wiped out."

"I saw it. You did well. Stay with me and watch the show for now. Once the battle is over, take the divine artifact and unseal the angel army, then bring them under our command."

Wang Bert tossed the box containing the divine artifact to Annie. Ancient One had already opened that artifact box long ago and even made a replica of it.

As for the Grand Elder’s claim that only he could open it, that was nothing but a joke. Not only could Ancient One open it, even Wang Bert could force it open.

Annie took the box and said excitedly, "Yes, Master."

Let us turn the clock back a little. Through Ant-Man’s reconnaissance, Tony quickly determined the best point to create the tremor. Then he called Ant-Man back and said to Skye, "You can begin."

"Alright. Get ready for battle. There will definitely be some fish that slip through the net."

Skye nodded. Then she placed both hands on the ground. The earth began to tremble slightly, and the sand on the ground rolled without stopping.

A moment later, Skye unleashed her power. The entire underground base shook violently, and huge rocks rained down from above, crushing several Holy Light Warriors to death.

Skye’s power, combined with Tony’s precise calculations, brought the shockwave’s power to its peak.

"Damn it, they aren’t using a portal?"

The Grand Elder cursed as he dodged falling rocks. He had specifically prepared measures against portals, yet those people had simply started demolishing the base.

These people did not play by the rules at all.

A priest rushed over and shouted, "Grand Elder, hurry and escape! The base is about to collapse!"

"It won’t collapse."

The Grand Elder staggered over to Gabriel’s Holy Statue and knelt before it, shouting, "Archangel, please protect us."

As the Grand Elder spoke, the statue shone with brilliant holy light. The light then rapidly spread across the ceiling and walls, firmly protecting the base.

It was not that Gabriel had personally intervened. It was the Holy Power accumulated within the statue over thousands of years taking effect.

The Holy Light Warriors breathed huge sighs of relief. Then the Grand Elder shouted, "Everyone, charge out and fight the Blood God’s lackeys to the death!"

As he spoke, the Grand Elder took out a scepter and cast a spell. Large amounts of white mist appeared outside the base.

"Yes, Grand Elder."

Knowing the holy light would not last long, everyone grabbed their weapons and charged out through several different passages.

An underground base like this naturally could not have only one passage. That would be asking to be trapped like turtles in a jar.

Skye shouted, "Mr. Stark, some kind of force is preventing me from destroying the underground base."

Tony was about to respond when large amounts of white mist suddenly appeared around them. He could not even see his companions a meter away.

"Outdated magic."

Tony snorted. As he switched to infrared vision, he said, "Everyone, prepare for battle. They’re coming out."

"No problem. You think we’re afraid of them?"

Everyone shouted in response. Those Tony had brought here were all elites.

As for the white mist, it was nothing. Which one of them did not have auxiliary equipment? With two super military-industrial conglomerates backing S.W.O.R.D., all their equipment was top of the line.

Tony nodded in satisfaction and ordered the Drone Armor to fly down. It aimed its weapons at the several exits that had been detected earlier, waiting for the Holy Light Warriors to emerge.

Before long, the Holy Light Warriors charged out from several exits. The Drone Armor immediately launched Micro Missiles, sending them densely toward the exits.

The Holy Light Warriors had expected an attack. Those at the front all held up Holy Light Shields, but they had not expected Tony to be so insane as to use missiles right away.

The Holy Light Shields were powerful, but no matter how powerful they were, they could not withstand missiles. Amid the dense explosions, large numbers of Holy Light Warriors died on the spot.

The remaining Holy Light Warriors hurriedly retreated into the exits. At that moment, Holy Light Warriors burst out from several other hidden exits and swung weapons gleaming with holy light at the Drone Armor.

The Drone Armor immediately dodged, then turned and fired at the Holy Light Warriors. The Holy Light Warriors raised their Holy Light Shields to block the bullets and began a fierce back-and-forth battle with the Drone Armor.

"For God."

With the Drone Armor tied down, the remaining Holy Light Warriors immediately charged out and attacked it with all their strength. The battle instantly escalated.

"Have we gone back to the Middle Ages? Why are they all using melee weapons? I thought they’d at least have rocket launchers."

Tony sneered as the oversized Arc Reactor on his chest activated at full power—yes, oversized. Only an idiot like Ivan would hang so many Arc Reactors on his body. If he wanted more power, couldn’t he just make the reactor bigger? Too many reactors would only make defense more difficult. As for heat dissipation, sorry, Tony did not need to worry about that.

With a thought from Tony, dazzling high-temperature red light flared from his body—he had injected the perfect enhanced Extremis Virus, making him far stronger than Killian had been.

Next, two crimson Vibranium short blades sprang from Tony’s arms. He took a deep breath and suddenly lunged in front of a Holy Light Warrior, slicing off his head in one stroke. The wound was charred black, and not even blood flowed out.

"This feels great! Who said Iron Man was a weakling who couldn’t fight in close combat?"

Tony laughed loudly and charged toward a group of Holy Light Warriors. Powerful propulsion, terrifying heat, and Jarvis’s combat simulations made him like a god of war as he killed Holy Light Warriors one after another.

While Tony unleashed his power, the others were not idle either. They all rushed forward and joined the battlefield.

"Says they’re in the Middle Ages, but isn’t he doing the same thing?"

Hawkeye, clad in armor, could not help mocking him. Then he released his bowstring, and a long arrow pierced through one Holy Light Warrior before plunging straight into the chest of another behind him.

One arrow, two kills.

"Welcome to the Middle Ages."

Human Torch laughed as he flew through the air and hurled fireballs fiercely downward. Just then, several Holy Light Long Arrows shot from the hilltop at once, all striking his chest. He screamed and fell from the sky.

Visibility in the white mist was limited, and only one place was especially bright. If they did not shoot him, who would they shoot?

Fortunately, Human Torch’s defense increased greatly after he transformed into a fire man, so he did not die. He was merely injured. He no longer dared to show off and hurriedly hid behind a valley, calling for a medic.

"Don’t underestimate them like that idiot Human Torch. This is the Angel Church’s strongest force. They aren’t that simple."

Tony shouted urgently. Everyone nodded and fought steadily, swiftly harvesting the Holy Light Warriors’ lives.

Watching the slaughter on the battlefield, Strange sighed and did not make many moves. He could kill demons without mercy, but he did not want to kill people.

The Holy Light Warriors were far weaker than Tony’s side and soon fell into a disadvantage. The Grand Elder was not surprised by this at all. Tony Stark had come to wipe them out, so his forces were naturally powerful.

"The problem is, this time, we never intended to survive."

The Grand Elder sneered. The holy light from the statue stopped protecting the underground base and instead surged out of the ground, transforming into streams of holy light that enveloped the Holy Light Warriors.

"For God."

Without hesitation, the Holy Light Warriors immediately began burning their own lives, and the holy light on their bodies suddenly surged.

As had been said before, their goal this time was to die here together with their enemies.

The Holy Light Warriors began fighting desperately, and everyone’s pressure immediately increased sharply. Even Iron Man was no exception, because these people were simply too ruthless.

Tony stabbed a blade into an enemy’s chest and destroyed his heart. Under normal circumstances, the enemy would certainly have died, but after burning his life force, even with his heart destroyed, the Holy Light Warrior would not die immediately.

The Holy Light Warrior used all his strength to grab Tony’s armored arm. Then, while calling for others to come help, the holy light on his body swelled madly.

Several nearby Holy Light Warriors immediately charged over. They did not care about their own lives at all, enduring injuries as they grabbed Tony’s arms and legs, intending to perish with him.
