Battle Was Never Just About Brute Force
Raven knew the Hulk existed, but she had no desire to fight him now. She only wanted to go all out against Hive, who had desecrated Magneto’s corpse. But the Hulk had completely lost himself to battle and had not a shred of reason left. Whoever approached him, he attacked.
"Get lost!"
Raven was furious too. No matter what she did, she could not drive the Hulk away. No matter how heavily she struck him, the Hulk only retaliated even more fiercely. With no other choice, she had to deal with this enemy first.
Raven exchanged several head-on blows with the Hulk before realizing that this method of fighting put her at a severe disadvantage.
The Hulk’s attacks were incredibly heavy, but Raven was no weaker than him. However, the Hulk’s defense and recovery were far too powerful, far surpassing Raven’s. Whenever they traded wounds, the Hulk was always the first to recover.
If not for the Magnetic Field Force experience Magneto had left behind, which was constantly awakening and helping Raven push her realm higher, and Ororo providing support from the side, Raven would have been killed by the Hulk long ago.
But battle was never just about brute force. What made Raven different was that she could now transform into any Mutant and use that person’s abilities.
And against an opponent like the Hulk, the best method was mind control.
Raven struck the Hulk hard once, borrowed the force to retreat through the air, and then switched into the form of Professor X.
Professor X could not survive in a vacuum, so he had died when Earth was destroyed. But Raven’s version of Professor X possessed advanced Magnetic Field Rotation Force. Although she had left Magneto mode and could no longer directly control magnetic fields, leaving her stuck at the Fifty Heavens, living in a vacuum was no problem for her.
Raven stopped fighting the Hulk head-on. Instead, she had Ororo engage him directly while she moved rapidly around his side, using Professor X’s powerful psychic abilities to influence him.
At first, Raven wanted to communicate with Doctor Banner’s mind and bring Doctor Banner back to his senses. But Doctor Banner only wanted to die now. How could he possibly emerge at a time like this?
In the end, Raven gritted her teeth and began trying to alter the Hulk’s consciousness.
If it had been another normal powerhouse, Magnetic Field Force would have allowed him to completely resist or become immune to Raven’s control. He might even have followed Raven’s mental channel to launch a counterattack. But the Hulk’s mind was extremely childish, hardly any better than a young child’s.
Raven was therefore astonished to discover that altering the Hulk’s consciousness went incredibly smoothly. She encountered some resistance at the beginning, but as Professor X’s powerful psychic abilities projected into him, she quickly suppressed his consciousness.
At last, the Hulk stopped in the void and no longer charged forward to fight. Ororo also took the opportunity to withdraw and rapidly recover from her injuries. After all, holding back the Hulk was no easy task.
After controlling the Hulk, Raven’s eyes flickered as she decided to make him her powerful enforcer. With a thought, the Hulk let out a roar and charged toward Hive. Raven stayed behind him, using Professor X’s psychic abilities to begin assaulting Hive.
Daisy’s three abilities promoted one another, producing an effect many times greater than their individual strength. But Hive had inherited Magneto’s body. Although the damage to the corpse had affected his realm somewhat, he was still firmly above the Ninetieth Heaven.
At their first encounter, Hive recognized one of his subordinates and tried to control her. But he discovered that power was surging violently through Daisy’s body, so powerful that it shattered all the energy he used to manipulate her.
Moreover, Daisy’s thoughts were chaotic and devoid of reason, making communication impossible.
"Damn Whitehall!"
Hive assumed that Whitehall had removed his control over Daisy by destroying her sanity.
Since she was no longer his subordinate, there was no use keeping her alive.
Hive raised his hand and struck, his palm colliding with Daisy’s Black Hole Fist and blasting her away. He immediately followed after her, unleashing blow after blow in an attempt to eliminate this enemy in the shortest time possible.
Carl, who had been watching her daughter the entire time, anxiously shouted, "Go help Daisy! Go help Daisy!"
Whitehall had no intention of seeking trouble at a time like this. "Daisy has no reason left. If we go over there, she’ll definitely attack both of us too. Then we’ll be caught between two enemies, which will only make things worse. We might as well wait until she regains her senses before going over."
After saying that, he ignored the matter.
The various heads of Hydra often fought among themselves, but whenever an enemy appeared, they could join forces and stand united against the outside world.
If Daisy had been his subordinate and served him, he naturally would not have minded helping her. But Daisy had already gone mad. Whether she would recover in the future, and whether she would still be under his control after recovering, were both uncertain.
He would not make a losing bargain.
Besides, after Carl became part of the Twin-Headed Armor, her life and death were no longer up to her. There was no need to care about her at all. Whether Carl’s head was willing or not, it had to support the Astral Energy barrier. Whitehall had no need to heed Carl’s wishes.
Carl was frantic, but aside from chattering incessantly in Whitehall’s ear, she had no way to help.
Just as Hive had gained the upper hand and was about to kill Daisy, the Hulk suddenly charged over again and began hammering Hive furiously. Before Hive could figure out what was happening, his head spun, and he felt a force repeatedly battering him.
Under normal circumstances, a powerhouse of the Ninety-Third Heaven could completely resist Professor X’s psychic attacks. But Hive was different. He was a parasitic life-form. He had infested the brain of Magneto’s corpse and controlled the body by manipulating the brain.
This created a serious problem. Although Magneto’s Astral Energy reduced the psychic attack by more than half, it still affected Hive adversely. His control over Magneto’s body was severely disrupted.
The result of the body’s lack of coordination was that his movements lagged by half a beat. Then the Hulk and Daisy pinned him down and beat him relentlessly. Ororo was afraid of disrupting their formation, so she did not charge in.
Just as Hive had completely fallen into a disadvantageous position, Daisy and the Hulk began fighting among themselves again.
The two had already been enemies. Later, after encountering Raven and Hive, their hatred had been temporarily set aside. But now that they were both attacking the same person, they were already standing close to each other. After one accidental hit, their old and new grudges erupted once more, and the two madmen began fighting each other again. Even Raven’s control became difficult to maintain.
Raven was frantic and hurriedly used her psychic abilities to control Daisy again. But the moment her mind connected with Daisy’s, a maddening whisper came from the other end, making Raven feel dizzy and disoriented.
Although she possessed Professor X’s Mutant abilities, Raven’s own mind was not nearly as powerful. She might not even be much stronger than Daisy. If Daisy could not withstand something, Raven would have a hard time withstanding it either.
While she was still hesitating over whether to help Daisy escape her loss of reason, she saw Hive break free and charge straight toward her.
"Bitch!"
"I knew you were behind this!"
"I’ll kill you first!"
Hive knew that Raven was responsible for what had happened and decided to eliminate this great threat first.
Ororo alone was completely unable to stop Hive. Helpless, Raven switched back into Magneto mode, summoned her Magnetic Field Rotation Force, and advanced to meet the charging Hive. The three of them once again became locked in battle.
