Big News
White Queen looked at Wang Bert and said with heartfelt admiration, "BOSS, you’re amazing. You actually saw through it all so clearly."
"Same old trick. Once cell phones become widespread, there’ll be plenty of this sort of thing."
Wang Bert merely smiled. White Queen asked, "BOSS, should we do something? Those bystanders are important—maybe even the key to whether Acton or Richard wins."
"We definitely need to do something. If I’m not mistaken, a major news story will break next—a major news story created by Richard’s fanatical supporters."
Wang Bert said, "We need to stop it from happening, or at the very least, minimize its impact."
White Queen frowned. "That’ll be difficult. America is so huge. Who knows where they’ll strike?"
"It’s difficult for you, but not for me."
Wang Bert took out a banknote and said, "I want to know when and where Acton will launch his operation."
The next moment, the banknote vanished, and a piece of information appeared in Wang Bert’s mind: five days from now, Las Vegas, Potter.
That information cost Wang Bert two million dollars. If he wanted more detailed information, it would cost at least tens of millions.
"Launching operations in two places at once. Acton really is cautious."
Wang Bert snorted and did not use Money Power again, because what he knew was already enough.
White Queen said, "BOSS, I have to say, your Money Power is really useful."
"Of course it is."
Wang Bert laughed. The ability Wanda had arranged for him suited him perfectly.
White Queen leaned closer and said seductively, "I just wonder how much it would cost for you to get close to a woman. BOSS, I can pay for it."
Wang Bert stared expressionlessly at White Queen. The next second, the ceiling collapsed from above and smashed into Diamond White Queen’s head with a bang, shattering apart.
"Is that all?"
White Queen snorted, brushing the debris off herself. "BOSS, I’ll cover the repair costs. We’ll continue next time."
With that, White Queen returned to normal and walked out of the office like an aristocratic lady. Wang Bert shook his head. My poor ceiling and floor, you’ve suffered enough.
"Restore."
Wang Bert took out a banknote. The next moment, the banknote disappeared, and the shattered ceiling reassembled itself before returning to where it belonged. The whole process looked like time flowing backward.
"Should I add some kind of strengthening spell too?"
Wang Bert rubbed his chin. Just then, the phone rang. It was Translucent.
"BOSS, Francis’s superior has ordered him to expand the facility and create more mutants."
Translucent said, "They want to create a mutant to replace you."
"They’re destined to be disappointed, because I’m irreplaceable."
Wang Bert smiled. "Translucent, did you get a photo of Francis’s superior?"
"I didn’t get one, but I’ve learned his identity. He’s Brigadier General Lance. Also, because this matter is relatively significant, he’ll personally come to the factory in three days to discuss things with Francis and deliver a large quantity of serum to him.
"When that happens, I’ll record the entire process."
"He’ll show up in person in three days?"
Wang Bert’s eyes lit up. "Looks like heaven is on our side. Translucent, we’ll close the net in three days."
"We’re closing the net in three days? That’s great."
Translucent was overjoyed. He asked, "BOSS, what are you planning to do?"
"No rush. I’ll investigate Brigadier General Lance’s background first, then arrange things to catch them all in one sweep. Don’t worry, I’ll leave Francis to you so you can have your fun."
"I’ve spent this time thinking up plenty of ways to torture him. I’ll make sure he never forgets it for the rest of his life."
Translucent gritted his teeth. "That bastard doesn’t deserve to be called human."
"Many people are more terrifying than demons."
Wang Bert shook his head. Then, he hung up and used his private database to search for information on Brigadier General Lance.
Lance Daines, Army brigadier general, serving under General Anthony.
"General Anthony?"
Wang Bert narrowed his eyes. General Anthony was one of the military’s big shots. During this time, he had been in close contact with Acton—General Anthony was that old general.
"Interesting. It looks like I can make a major news story too."
Wang Bert’s eyes flickered. After thinking for a moment, he called Yuriko into the office and instructed her, "Send someone to photograph General Anthony meeting with Acton."
Yuriko considered it for a moment, then nodded. "No problem. The Security Company has a lizard mutant with camouflage coloring. His ability isn’t as good as Translucent’s, but it’s more than enough to take a few photos."
"Good. By the way, how is Nightcrawler doing? Has he gone back to the Mutant Affairs Department yet?"
Wang Bert had been busy handling the aftermath yesterday. On top of that, after killing John, his relationship with the X-Men had become somewhat strained, so he did not know what was happening at the Mutant Affairs Department.
"Nightcrawler had a large amount of his Space Power drained away. He’s currently weakened and unable to work."
Yuriko said, "Because of that, Wade has been working overtime at the Mutant Affairs Department. Apparently, he keeps complaining about the low salary there and bragging about how much he makes every year. Hank was so angry he nearly hit him."
"That guy’s personality will never change."
Wang Bert laughed helplessly. "I’ll send Iron Man Armor over to replace Wade. Call Wade and tell him to come back. I have something for him to do."
"Alright."
Yuriko nodded and went out to call Wade. Not long after, Wade Teleported back to the company, changed into a different skin, and walked into Wang Bert’s office from outside.
"BOSS, you saved my life. Hank is practically inhuman."
Wade complained, "I didn’t mind their low salary, and I worked my ass off for them. Yet not only was that guy ungrateful, he kept glaring at me like he wanted to beat me up."
"Who told you to keep complaining about their low pay?"
Wang Bert said irritably. Wade said aggrievedly, "But the pay really is low. The average salary of the Mutant Guardians is at least a third lower than ours at the Security Company.
"And the benefits are completely incomparable. Our Security Company holds a bikini party every three months. They have nothing over there. They can’t even pay overtime properly."
Wang Bert looked at Wade and asked, "You want to poach people from the Mutant Guardians?"
"You saw through me, BOSS."
Wade chuckled awkwardly. "Some of the prospects in there are pretty good. Boss, I didn’t lie to them. Everything I said was true. Their treatment really is worse than ours."
"The Mutant Guardians are a government department. Naturally, their salaries can’t compare with ours."
Wang Bert shook his head and took a stack of documents from a drawer. "Enough about that. Read this first."
"Looks like there’s something big going on."
Wade took the documents and flipped through them. A moment later, he asked furiously, "BOSS, where is this scumbag? I’ll go kill him right now."
Not only did Francis create mutants through extreme pain, he also turned them into slaves and sold them to warlords. No mutant could tolerate something like that, and Wade was no exception—he had long considered himself a mutant.
"He definitely needs to die. There’s no question about that."
Wang Bert said, "Organize a team and get ready. We move in three days. I’ll have the TV station follow you and broadcast the battle live."
"Broadcast the battle live?"
Wade was stunned. "BOSS, that facility not only has heavy firepower, but also superpowered people. Is a live broadcast really appropriate?"
Not appropriate was a polite way of putting it. The real word was stupid. With reporters tagging along, they would have to protect them everywhere and hold back at every turn. How was that any different from fighting with their hands and feet tied?
"Wade, as the CEO of the Security Company, you need to learn to look at things from the bigger picture."
Wang Bert leaned back in his chair and advised, "I learned about this long ago. Why do you think I waited until now to act?"
Wade froze, somewhat confused. Then he heard the sound of an interview coming from the television, and inspiration struck him. "So President Richard can get reelected?"
"That’s right. Brigadier General Lance is behind this facility, Brigadier General Lance works for General Anthony, and General Anthony has been cooperating with Acton."
Wang Bert nodded. "That connection is a little weak, so I need the public to be furious—the kind of fury that ignores all explanations and only wants to smash General Anthony and Acton’s dog heads in. Do you understand what I mean?"
"I understand. Only by witnessing it firsthand can the viewers’ anger reach its peak."
Wade finally understood. He nodded. "Don’t worry, BOSS. I’ll make this broadcast happen and make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Very good. Wade, you don’t need to hold back. The public won’t care how many people you kill. They’ll only think those scumbags got off too easily."
"The public sees things clearly."
Wade nodded. "BOSS, I need a map of that factory."
Wang Bert smiled. "Not only will you get a map, you’ll also get detailed information on the guards. If I’m letting you broadcast live, naturally I’m completely confident."
"You even have detailed information on the guards?"
Wade’s eyes lit up. He pounded his chest and promised, "Then what is there to be afraid of? Leave it to me, BOSS. I guarantee I’ll put on a good show for you."
Wang Bert nodded. "Good. Take the documents back and study them carefully. In three days, I’ll be waiting to see your performance."
"Yes, BOSS!"
Wade nodded and left with the documents. Wang Bert thought for a moment, then Teleported back to the underground laboratory. A body was soaking in nutrient fluid there—it was Azazel’s body.
A body, not a corpse. That was right, Azazel was not dead. Although Wang Bert had cut off his head, he had not died immediately—his vitality was exceptionally strong, which was why he had been able to live for thousands of years.
However, while Azazel’s vitality was powerful, his healing ability was far inferior to Wolverine’s. If his head remained separated from his body for more than three hours, he would die completely.
After discovering this, Wang Bert promptly reattached Azazel’s head to his neck. After one day of healing, his neck and head had already fused back together. If nothing unexpected happened, he would "revive" in another twenty-four hours.
"Sorry, I don’t need a living Azazel."
Wang Bert took out a stack of Banknotes and said, "Transfer Azazel’s brain into a bio-pod without killing him."
The next moment, Money Power took effect, and a brain appeared inside the bio-pod. Wang Bert then took out a mass of Nanoparticles and sent them into Azazel’s body, turning them into a mechanical brain.
With Money Power, the entire process went smoothly. An hour later, Azazel suddenly opened his eyes. Then, he Teleported to Wang Bert’s side and said respectfully in an utterly emotionless voice, "Master."
"Call me BOSS."
Wang Bert said, "Put on optical invisibility clothing and acquire the Sentinel Robot data from Trask Industries for me. Afterward, remain at Trask Industries and monitor their progress."
Wang Bert had long figured out the location of Trask Industries. He had not acted because he had been busy, and because he wanted to wait for the Sentinel Robots to be completed.
With the military’s full support, the Sentinel Robots would definitely be created ahead of schedule. Wang Bert needed someone to help him monitor Trask Industries, which was why he had created Azazel.
Besides, Azazel was not suited to appearing in public. Though he was a bad person, he was still a mutant. If people learned that Wang Bert had experimented on him, it would damage his reputation as the Mutant Savior.
Azazel said respectfully, "Yes, BOSS!"
"If the opportunity arises, steal some of their special metal without Trask Industries noticing—the kind of special metal that can fuse all kinds of Mutant Genes."
Wang Bert instructed him. The reason Deadpool possessed so many superpowers was because of Trask Industries’ special metal. There should be quite a large supply of this metal. After all, in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sentinel Robots filled the skies.
This metal could accelerate Wang Bert’s research into the Mutant Source.
"Yes."
Azazel did not waste words. He nodded and vanished.
"Sentinels don’t seem able to Teleport. Are Azazel’s genes incompatible with the other genes?"
Wang Bert thought of something and narrowed his eyes slightly. If the Sentinel Robots could Teleport, then with their strength, the X-Men would have had no chance to flee everywhere.
In an instant, a Sentinel army would appear at your doorstep. Wouldn’t that terrify you?…
In the blink of an eye, three days passed.
Outside a factory somewhere in New Jersey, Wade, wearing Deadpool’s skin, appeared out of thin air with a team of Elite Mutants, a reporter, a cameraman, and a TV station broadcast van.
After recovering from his initial discomfort, the male reporter said excitedly, "So this is Teleportation? Wow, that’s so cool!"
Did I hire the wrong reporter?
Wade complained inwardly. Because the situation inside the factory was too disgusting, he had specifically hired a male reporter. The problem was, this guy was a little too exaggerated, constantly making a fuss over everything.
"Wade, when do we start? I can’t wait to kill those bastards inside."
Wolverine cursed, "I never thought there could be someone in this world even more disgusting than Stryker."
"Someone more disgusting than Stryker?"
The male reporter asked in shock, "No way. Is there really someone more disgusting than Stryker? He harmed huge numbers of mutants, including many children."
Wolverine could not be bothered to respond to the reporter. Wade said, "You’ll find out soon enough. Treece, is the live broadcast ready?"
"No problem. The equipment in the van is enough for us to complete the broadcast."
The male reporter nodded and asked impatiently, "When do we begin?"
