Blow Up the Pentagon First!
The Sentinel Robots flashed into position in front of Zhan Liu, then brought down an Ultimate Endless Palm.
Zhan Liu was furious and angry, with a trace of unease mixed in. He likewise struck out with an Ultimate Endless Palm.
The two palms collided in the vacuum, soundlessly and without any radiation particle streams. From the satellite, it looked as though the two men were merely clapping hands.
But after a brief stalemate, Zhan Liu’s arm exploded, and his entire body flew backward like a baseball that had been hit. The blood splattering along his path proved that his injuries were far from light.
The generals at the Mojave Desert Military Base couldn’t help cheering loudly at the sight, celebrating their apparent victory. Many had even ordered wine brought up and were preparing to pop champagne.
In the void, the Sentinel Robots didn’t waste time talking. As it knocked Zhan Liu away, it had already followed close behind and launched an Ultimate Emperor Leg, smashing it down heavily.
"Just a pile of scrap metal, and you think you can kill me?" Zhan Liu roared furiously. He raised his Fifty Heavens Magnetic Field Force, recovering his injuries as he thrust up his other hand to meet the attack.
Zhan Liu had been caught off guard when he was attacked earlier, which was why his arm had been blown apart. But his Complete State was countless levels higher than that of the Sentinel Robots, and in terms of actual combat strength, he was not inferior in the slightest.
However, his right arm was currently incomplete and still recovering. With his attention divided, he immediately fell into a disadvantageous position.
Their palm and leg collided, and Zhan Liu borrowed the force to retreat, escaping intact without losing another limb.
By the time the Sentinel Robots pursued him again, Zhan Liu had already repaired his arm and was taking the initiative, charging forward to attack head-on.
One man and the machine began battling in the void. Fists and legs flew, and neither side showed the slightest mercy with any move.
In the void, without sound or light effects and without special-effects enhancement, it looked dull and boring, just like an old-fashioned martial arts movie. One threw a punch, the other a kick, and after sending the opponent flying, they chased after each other and traded blows again.
If the two of them hadn’t been moving so quickly that their attacks became afterimages, the generals watching from below would probably have fallen asleep.
Zhan Liu was seething with rage, unleashing one powerful move after another and repeatedly pounding the Sentinel Robots, yet he could do nothing to it.
Although Zhan Liu kept calling the thing scrap metal, the power of the Ninety-Second Heaven was genuine. The True Adamantium Alloy covering its body was also the strongest metal in Marvel.
Zhan Liu now found it difficult even to blast through the Sentinel Robots’ Protective Astral Energy, let alone destroy the True Adamantium Alloy body that made it up.
In fact, dealing with something like this was very simple. As long as he found the person controlling the robot and killed him, the problem would be solved.
Although Zhan Liu didn’t know who was controlling this thing from behind the scenes, it was undoubtedly connected to the military. As long as he started by attacking the Pentagon and killed his way through Washington, the entire problem would be solved.
Having made up his mind, Zhan Liu sank and plunged into the atmosphere, heading straight for Washington. The Sentinel Robots followed close behind, constantly entangling and intercepting him. But although Zhan Liu couldn’t break through the Sentinel Robots’ defenses, if he wanted to leave, the Sentinel Robots couldn’t stop him either.
The generals inside the Mojave Military Base panicked.
"Stop him!"
"Damn it! What does he want to do? Is he trying to imitate Magneto? He’s courting death!"
"Call the Sentinel back quickly! Don’t let them fight on the ground, or Washington will be finished!"
"Don’t call it back. Have the Sentinel self-destruct and blow him up!"
"What nonsense are you talking about? Since when did the Sentinel have a self-destruct function?!"
The group descended into chaos, completely at a loss for what to do.
Zhan Liu had originally been heading for the White House, but halfway through the air, he spotted the five-pointed-star-shaped building on the outskirts of Washington.
The Pentagon was built pretty well. It can be seen from far away in the sky, and it’s much more recognizable than some building like the White House.
He gave a sinister chuckle, fighting as he retreated alongside the Sentinel Robots while heading toward the Pentagon below.
The Pentagon had already received the warning, and the officials had fled long ago. But to prevent the ordinary soldiers from causing chaos while escaping and interfering with their own departure, they hadn’t told anyone anything.
But by this point, the ordinary soldiers who remained had already seen Zhan Liu battling the Sentinel Robots through the defense system.
They still didn’t know that Zhan Liu was coming for them, but they had long understood the power of a Magnetic Field Warrior. They immediately fell into chaos as well and scattered in all directions.
Zhan Liu turned around and punched the Sentinel Robots backward, then borrowed the force to descend toward the Pentagon.
As he neared the ground, he spun around and slammed a heavy punch into the earth.
Amid a thunderous explosion, the Pentagon was gone.
Not only was the Pentagon gone, but every building around it also collapsed with a deafening roar beneath the shock waves.
The Pentagon stood in Arlington County on the outskirts of Washington. Covering twenty-nine acres, it was essentially a fully equipped little town. But from this day onward, there would not be a single living person left here.
"Hahaha… exhilarating!" Zhan Liu threw his head back and laughed loudly, a vicious glint in his eyes as he looked toward the sky. The Sentinel Robots hovered overhead without descending to pursue him. After a moment, the Sentinel Robots turned around, flew into space, and vanished from sight.
The Sentinel Robots returned to the Mojave Desert Military Base and entered silent mode. Meanwhile, the generals inside the base were stomping around in fury. Not one drop of the champagne they had prepared had been drunk; all of it had been smashed onto the floor, filling the entire conference room with the smell of champagne.
"All right, gentlemen. Although this experiment of ours can’t be considered a success, it can’t be considered a failure either."
General Hale clapped his hands, drawing the furious crowd’s attention back.
"During the more than ten hours of continuous combat earlier, the Sentinel Robots’ outstanding performance fully demonstrated that Zhan Liu, whose strength was roughly comparable to Magneto’s, was completely helpless against it."
"Although the Sentinel Robots failed to bring that Zhan Liu fellow to justice, this is only a prototype. As long as we’ve made a good start, everything afterward will be simple."
"As long as we mass-produce the Sentinel Model 3 Magnetic Field Rotation Robot, ten or twenty of them can swarm him. It won’t be difficult to kill Zhan Liu completely."
"As for the Pentagon, although its destruction is unfortunate, the Federation will remember the warriors who died for justice. At least none of our generals are on the casualty list."
"The question now is, does everyone agree to mass-produce the Sentinel Model 3 Magnetic Field Rotation Robot?"
After exchanging looks, everyone raised their hands in agreement.
General Hale swept his gaze around the room and nodded in satisfaction.
"Excellent. It passes unanimously. Starting today, the Federation will fully mass-produce the Sentinel Model 3 Magnetic Field Rotation Robot."
"I hope we can give them a grand gift at the upcoming Mutant Nation Founding Congress!"
"Then we’ll destroy Magneto first and execute Zhan Liu next, letting the whole world know that only the Federation is the true ruler of the world!"
