Chapter 18: Returning to Cloud Sky City

Early the next morning, Han Shi, Wang Yuyan, and Ye Lin all came to Su Yu's place, prepared to set off for Cloud Sky City.

Now that they had all reached the Foundation Establishment stage, they could travel more easily. Once everyone arrived, they prepared to depart, and four streaks of light rose from Su Yu's courtyard.

The four of them stepped on their longswords, speeding through the air.

Su Yu looked at the longsword beneath Ye Lin's feet and felt it was not simple; after all, he was now an Advanced blacksmith.

Moreover, over the past ten years, Ye Lin's fame had grown, faintly overshadowing even the two Geniuses with the Heavenly Spiritual Root.

He was a true celebrity within the Profound Heaven Sect and had also become quite famous in the Southern Region.

Based on Su Yu's current understanding of forging, the weapon appeared to be a Profound Rank weapon on the surface, but Su Yu felt there was more to it, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Of course, he himself was using a Yellow Rank longsword that he had forged temporarily.

Over these ten years, among the four of them, Su Yu had spent the most time with Han Shi and Wang Yuyan.

As Ye Lin's cultivation level increased, the number of times they met decreased; Ye Lin was now at the seventh level of Foundation Establishment.

Furthermore, he was rarely at the Sect, but the bond between the four of them remained unchanged.

As for Han Shi and Wang Yuyan, they were quite easygoing regarding cultivation; after all, the couple preferred enjoying life more.

In the eyes of others, Su Yu was the same, perhaps even more easygoing.

As time passed, after Su Yu and the others traveled continuously, they finally arrived within the territory of Cloud Sky City.

Upon arriving in the territory, Su Yu and the others descended from the air; after all, they did not want to cause too much of a stir upon their return.

They were only returning to take a look.

Su Yu and the others walked to the city gates of Cloud Sky City, and the three of them were filled with emotion as they looked at the gate before them.

Having left for decades, they had only returned today. As the four stepped into Cloud Sky City, Su Yu looked at the scene within the city and saw that there hadn't been many changes.

The old street vendors and stall owners were still there, and although there were many new faces, it still felt the same.

After entering the city, the four of them went their separate ways.

Su Yu strolled along the small path and, in a trance, found himself in front of the Restaurant. Looking at the Restaurant before him, he considered it his first home here.

Watching the crowd coming and going, it seemed the business was still as good as ever. Su Yu walked into the Restaurant and immediately saw the manager chatting with someone.

Su Yu noticed the manager's greying temples; it seemed time had left its mark on him. Seeing that the manager was happily chatting, Su Yu did not disturb them at first.

However, Su Yu could still hear what the manager was talking about. He heard the manager saying to a guest at a table:

"Honored Guest, you've come to the right place. An Immortal once came from our Restaurant; we will definitely not disappoint you."

"We only gained quite a reputation in Cloud Sky City and the surrounding areas because we basked in his glory. I just don't know if I will ever see him again, but I reckon it's difficult. After all, Immortals and mortals are different. Sigh!"

Watching the manager's expression shift from happiness to sadness, Su Yu's heart stirred.

Su Yu walked behind the manager without saying a word. Just as the manager finished speaking and turned to leave, he saw Su Yu standing before him and rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

"What? Don't you recognize me, Manager?"

The manager nodded hurriedly, "I recognize you, I recognize you. How could I not?"

Just as the manager was about to introduce Su Yu, Su Yu interrupted him.

"Manager, do not make a scene. I do not want to cause a commotion this time."

The manager nodded hurriedly, "Alright, alright, I understand."

He then led Su Yu to a private room in the Restaurant and served all the signature dishes. Eating the food from the Restaurant, Su Yu felt quite nostalgic.

The manager looked at Su Yu, who hadn't changed much, and said, "Su Yu, your appearance hasn't changed much. You must be in your forties now, right? You just look more mature and steady."

Listening to the manager, Su Yu took out two bottles of Medicinal Pill and placed them in front of him.

"Manager, take these two bottles of Medicinal Pill. They can prolong your life and save you from the suffering of illness."

The manager didn't act coy and accepted them.

The manager understood that after this visit, there probably wouldn't be a next time. Sigh.

Seeing the manager's expression, Su Yu guessed what he was thinking.

"There is nothing absolute in this world. Perhaps one day I will come back to see you again, Manager."

They finished the meal amidst their laughter.

Just as Su Yu was about to leave, he noticed the manager hesitating as if he wanted to say something.

"What is it, Manager? Is there something you are keeping from me?"

The manager looked a bit troubled.

"A few years ago, I accidentally found out that I had a son. You know that I had no children my whole life."

"I cherish this child, but my son has never given up on the idea of Cultivating. However, after being tested by an Immortal, he was found to have no affinity for Cultivation."

He then called out his son, who was standing outside.

"Su Yu, this is my son, Liang Yun. Call him Uncle Yu."

Liang Yun called out, "Uncle Yu, Uncle Yu, is there really no way? Can one truly not Cultivate without a Spiritual Root?"

Su Yu looked at the hope in Liang Yun's eyes, but after probing, he confirmed that Liang Yun indeed had no Spiritual Root, which blocked his path to Cultivation.

Looking at Liang Yun's expectant expression, Su Yu sighed helplessly, "There is no way. Liang Yun, you have no Spiritual Root and are destined to have no affinity with Cultivation. It is better to give up early."

For a moment, Liang Yun's expression dimmed, but he quickly regained his composure and clenched his fists, "I understand."

After bidding farewell to the manager, Su Yu left the Restaurant, preparing to return to the Sect once Han Shi and the others returned.

In truth, it wasn't that there was absolutely no way without a Spiritual Root; legend had it that great experts could artificially create Spiritual Roots, but such artificial Spiritual Roots had a limit.

If it were true, he would have the confidence and time to do it eventually, perhaps even breaking that limit. But for now, it was still a distant prospect, so it was better to let Liang Yun give up that thought.

Sometimes, giving others hope is not necessarily a good thing.

Based on Su Yu's experience from reading novels in his past life, it was possible that Body Cultivators existed in this world.

He just didn't know for sure. As for Liang Yun, if fate permits, they might meet again in the Cultivation World in the future.

However, Su Yu had an intuition that he might run into him in the Cultivation World in the future.

Back in the Restaurant, after watching Su Yu leave, Liang Yun silently vowed in his heart, "I will embark on the path of Cultivation. No matter what method I have to use, I will try it."

Soon, Su Yu was joined by Ye Lin and the others. Su Yu looked at the three of them, "Have you all finished your goodbyes?"

"Yes, we gave our families some Medicinal Pill and didn't let anyone know we had returned. We also introduced Yuyan to our parents, and they were very happy."

Coming back to reality, the four of them felt a bit melancholy the moment they stepped out of the city gate. Unlike the high spirits of their youth when they first left the city gate to pursue the path of immortality, this parting might mean they would never meet again.

After this, the group became silent on the journey back. Once they arrived at the Sect, they exchanged greetings and went home. Yes, they had all gone home.
