Chapter 2037: Dim Lights, What is the Truth

Mu Bingmei left.

She left this Immortal Cave, left the Vermilion Bird Star, but she was not alone. By her side was a man dressed in white. This man had white hair and ordinary looks, but he exuded an indescribable aura that made people feel very comfortable. He held Mu Bingmei's hand, just as he had during that Reincarnation in the Dream Dao, holding it and never letting go.

Vaguely, he heard Mu Bingmei’s words in the sky.

"Are you… a Clone, or the true body…"

"I am Wang Lin, I am by your side." Wang Lin looked at Mu Bingmei and spoke softly.

Mu Bingmei looked at Wang Lin, and gradually, a smile appeared on her face. That smile was beautiful and joyful.

As they departed, until they left the Vermilion Bird Star, their destination unknown… Just as they transformed into a long rainbow and vanished into the horizon, on the ground, in a place they couldn't see, Wang Lin stood, watching them leave, a smile on his face.

Clone, or true body, only Wang Lin knew the answer.

Perhaps the one who left with Mu Bingmei was Wang Lin's Clone, and the one who remained here watching them was his true body. But perhaps… it was the exact opposite!

There was no answer.

Thirteen also left. His entire life had been spent following Wang Lin's footsteps. Now, Wang Lin allowed him to fly alone. The bird had grown up and needed to face the wind and rain by itself, to see the rainbow within the storms. Only then could he truly grow into a towering man.

Everyone had left… Only Wang Lin remained on the Vermilion Bird Star. Before entering the dream with Liu Mei, he had gone to pay respects to his parents. Now, after paying respects once more, he arrived at the home where he had once lived with Li Muwan.

That valley, which had deteriorated over the years, had been restored by him to its original state.

Wang Lin settled down in that valley, accompanying Li Muwan, experiencing the mundane within the passage of time. He held Li Muwan, counting the cycles of Reincarnation together, as if he had been doing this forever.

In solitude, he immersed himself in inner peace, experiencing warmth.

Time flowed by year after year. In spring, amidst the revival of all things, Wang Lin planted many flowers and grasses in the valley, watching the blossoms open, watching the summer rain fall, watching the autumn wind play the song of time, and watching the snowflakes drift down from the winter sky.

Wang Lin stayed by Li Muwan's side. The sound of zither music seemed to echo in his ears, as if traveling back thousands of years.

Ten years, ten years, ten years… Wang Lin lived in this peaceful valley for seventy years.

He stayed with Li Muwan, forgetting everything here. He didn't consider his own cultivation, the comprehension of Origin, or any schemes, plots, or twists in life. In his eyes, there was only Li Muwan; in his mind, there was only her figure; and in his ears, there were only those strands of zither music, echoing through the years.

In the second century after returning to the Immortal Cave Realm, the valley where Wang Lin resided welcomed a guest. This guest was a bald man whose appearance was exactly the same as it had been years ago, without the slightest change.

He walked out from the world, standing outside the valley for a long time, watching the hundred flowers bloom inside, watching the wooden house in the sea of flowers, and watching the solitary figure sitting cross-legged in front of the wooden house.

The man sighed softly, a look of melancholy on his face.

In his hand, he carried a wine gourd. With a sigh, he walked into the valley, passed through the sea of flowers, and came to Wang Lin's side. He looked at Wang Lin for a long, long time, then sat down cross-legged across from him.

Wang Lin opened his eyes, looked up at the bald man before him, and slowly smiled.

"You've come."

The bald man nodded silently.

"Can't forget her…" After a while, the bald man handed the wine gourd to Wang Lin, then took out another one for himself, put it to his mouth, and took a huge gulp. Some of the wine trickled down his lips and stained his clothes.

"I never intended to forget, so how can I 'not forget'?" Wang Lin took the wine gourd and drank a mouthful.

"You are tormenting yourself." The bald man looked at Wang Lin, his expression complex.

"Tormenting myself…" Wang Lin murmured, drinking the wine without speaking further.

"Give up… you won't succeed. If you keep this up, you'll be tired, and Wan'er will be tired too…" The bald man shook his head and spoke softly.

"Should I call you Mo Zhi, or another name?" Wang Lin looked at the sky, remained silent for a moment, and then slowly spoke.

This bald man was none other than Mo Zhi, who had told Wang Lin that Forgetting Happens When the Heart Dies, years ago in the temple on a rainy night!

"Mo Zhi… I have always had this name." The bald man sighed softly.

"Wang Lin, you must already have some guesses about the answer to all this. I can tell you everything… you…" Mo Zhi was about to speak.

"Don't say it. There are some things I need to figure out myself." Wang Lin shook his head, took the wine gourd, and drank a large gulp.

"Drink with me… it's been a long time since you and I last met." Wang Lin smiled, looking at Mo Zhi.

The bald man remained silent, holding his wine gourd, drinking sip by sip with Wang Lin, until nightfall, and then until dawn. Neither of them spoke another word.

When the distant horizon was bright again, Mo Zhi stood up, looked at Wang Lin, and sighed inwardly.

"I'm leaving… I hope you succeed…" He did not try to persuade Wang Lin further. He turned and walked away. Just as he was about to step out of the valley, he paused, his back to Wang Lin.

"Master asked me to ask you: When will you return the World-Defining Compass of the Nirvanic Dust Measure Realm…" Mo Zhi's words echoed in the valley. After speaking, he stepped out of the valley and gradually disappeared into the distance.

Wang Lin remained sitting cross-legged, drinking wine, paying no heed to Mo Zhi's words or departure.

He had understood some things long ago, but he knew that he was himself, named Wang Lin, born in the State of Zhao on the Vermilion Bird Star, into a carpenter's family, and raised in a small mountain village.

Step by step, he embarked on the Path of Immortal cultivation, and step by step, he reached his current level.

Reviving Li Muwan was his own decision, not a choice made after interference by some consciousness or some Reincarnation, but something he experienced and chose.

"I am me…" There was no confusion in Wang Lin's eyes, only clarity.

"Whether it's Mo Zhi or Hong Die, or even Mo Zhi's Master, and that Heavenly Fate Child… they all believe that this entire world, the Immortal Cave Realm, and the Immortal Astral Continent, are all illusory, unreal, and formed by one of my Reincarnation Dream Daos…" Wang Lin murmured. He had figured these things out long ago!

"But, is that really the case…" Wang Lin smiled slightly, stood up, and looked at the sky, his eyes shining brightly.

"Heavenly Fate Child, do you really think I don't know your Origin!" Wang Lin's eyes flashed. He looked at the sky. Vaguely, he seemed to see beyond the sky, beyond the Immortal Astral Continent, in the boundless darkness, a figure dressed in black, with extremely long black hair, carrying an aura of destruction and slaughter, walking over from afar.

The figure's destination was precisely the Immortal Astral Continent.

"Heavenly Fate Child, the answer to all this is not for you to tell me in the Primordial God Realm, but for me to tell you, there! To let you know what the true truth is!" Wang Lin flung his sleeve. A skull appeared in his hand.

This skull belonged to Jiqiong.

The skull flickered, and a line of small characters seemed to appear on it, quickly vanishing.

"You are all wrong…" Wang Lin withdrew his gaze, smiled slightly, and turned to walk towards the wooden house. He looked at Li Muwan lying there. Wang Lin sat beside her, gazing at her sleeping form, his eyes gentle.

"Wan'er, you will wake up… because I already know the real method… and I have already begun it within the Ancestral Temple of the Starting Ancient."

A hint of madness appeared in Wang Lin's eyes. This method was indeed extremely crazy!

Time gradually flowed away amidst the constant alternation of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Wang Lin had spent many years in this valley accompanying Li Muwan. This peaceful life was a rare scene in Wang Lin's life, apart from his Mortal Transformation and Dream Dao experiences.

He stayed with Li Muwan, talking, counting memories, immersed in his own world.

Over the years, Thirteen had returned several times. Each time, he stayed with Wang Lin in the valley for a few months before leaving again to pursue his own life and cultivation of the Dao.

Xu Ligou and Liu Jinbiao, using some unknown method, actually found Zhong Dahong. With the cooperation of the three, they dominated the Immortal Cave Realm and were extremely happy.

Especially since their bodies had been Reincarnated and grown on the Immortal Astral Continent, they could freely enter and exit through the Immortal Cave Gate by borrowing Wang Lin's power. As for Zhong Dahong, he could do the same with Wang Lin's help. Thus, after sweeping across the entire Immortal Cave Realm, these three people, along with the Sea Dragon who also enjoyed this activity, left the Immortal Cave Realm and began their legendary experiences on the Immortal Astral Continent.

However, before leaving, the three—Xu Ligou, Liu Jinbiao, and Zhong Dahong—came to Wang Lin, serving him diligently and showering him with flattery. Finally, while Wang Lin was amused, he left his aura and mark on them, ensuring their safety, after which the three excitedly departed.

With Wang Lin's prestige (like a tiger's skin) and the fighting power of the Golden Venerable Sea Dragon, they were confident they could scam their way through Immortal Astral as if entering a defenseless territory!

Sixty years after the departure of Xu Ligou and the other two, Wang Lin took Li Muwan and walked out of the valley, out of the Vermilion Bird Star, out of the Immortal Cave Realm, heading toward the Immortal Astral Continent.

Before leaving, his Divine Sense saw the Immortal Realm, saw the Cultivators there digesting the Dao Tradition he had left behind, saw Thirteen, and saw many old friends.

He withdrew his Divine Sense, taking a final look at the Immortal Cave Realm!

There were still three months until the Primordial God Realm on the Immortal Astral Continent opened. That place would be Wang Lin's final stop!

"When I walk out of the Primordial God Realm, Wan'er, you will be with me…" Wang Lin murmured, took a step, entered the Immortal Cave Gate, and vanished without a trace.
