Chapter 232: Zhengqi Sect
After a good night's sleep, Qin Ming woke up the next day feeling refreshed and prepared to set off for the Qixin Sect.
"Brother, please don't go, okay?" Qin Qing pleaded, clinging to Qin Ming after learning he was leaving.
Qin Ming patted his younger sister's head and said,
"Be good. I'll be back before you know it. I won't be gone for long!"
"Then take me with you!" Qin Qing said.
"No!" Qin Ming said, intentionally putting on a stern face. "I'm not going there to play; I'm going to handle some business. You stay here properly, and I'll bring you back something delicious when I return."
"I'm at the Grand Martial Master Realm now, so I definitely won't cause you any trouble. Just take me with you!" Qin Qing began to use her ultimate weapon: acting spoiled.
Qin Ming brushed her hand away and said coldly, "No, no matter what you say this time, I can't take you! Don't even think about it!"
"If I can't go, then I can't go. Why are you being so mean!" Qin Qing said, her lip trembling.
"Alright, don't cry. I'll bring you lots of delicious food and many beautiful clothes, okay?" Seeing his sister on the verge of tears, Qin Ming quickly began to coax her.
After Qin Ming signed a series of unequal treaties, Qin Qing finally agreed not to follow him.
Qin Ming said, "I didn't tell Father about my departure this time. You tell them so they don't worry."
"Okay!" Qin Qing agreed.
With a wave of his hand, Qin Ming walked away alone down the main road.
Watching her brother's departing figure, Qin Qing's eyes blurred with tears. She had never been separated from her brother before. With him leaving this time, she didn't know how long it would be before he returned.
As Qin Ming trod the path toward the Qixin Sect, though he felt some reluctance in his heart, he knew that this journey was of great importance. This was merely a brief parting.
Qin Ming soon composed his emotions, returning to the state of being alone once again.
However, this time he knew he had his parents and sister behind him. His heart was extremely peaceful, unlike in his previous life where he was all alone—seemingly glorious on the surface, but actually lonely with no one to confide in.
Traveling day and night, Qin Ming arrived within the Qixin Sect's sphere of influence in a week.
Despite such a great distance, the Qixin Sect had still tried every possible means to destroy the Qin Family. It seemed the Scorpion Organization's resolve to eliminate the Qin Family was unwavering.
Qin Ming believed that the secret of the Scorpion Organization must be earth-shattering.
After arriving at his destination, Qin Ming was no longer in a hurry. He found a crowded inn and settled in.
After resting for a night, Qin Ming sat in the inn drinking tea, listening to the nearby Martial Artists boasting.
The reason he stayed at the inn was to see if he could hear any news regarding the Qixin Sect.
After listening for half a day, although most of the news was about the Qixin Sect, it was all information Qin Ming already knew.
Just as Qin Ming was about to leave in disappointment, a discussion among the Martial Artists at a nearby table caught his attention.
"Why do you think the Elder wants our Zhengqi Sect to investigate the Qixin Sect? Isn't that just looking for unnecessary trouble?" one Martial Artist complained.
"What else could it be? Our Zhengqi Sect takes it as our duty to slay Devil Heads. Isn't it only right to investigate the Qixin Sect?"
The Martial Artist wearing black clothes beside him spoke as if it were a matter of course.
That Martial Artist curled his lip and said disdainfully, "Those Elders wouldn't be so active in killing Devil Heads if there were no profit in it. If everything they've done were truly made public…"
"The things those Devil Heads do might not even come close to what they've done!"
"Hush, stop talking! If an Elder hears you, you're finished. It's not like you don't know the Elder's methods!" the Black-Clothed Martial Artist said urgently.
Thinking of the Elder's terror, that Martial Artist shivered violently and began to change the subject, no longer speaking of the Sect's affairs.
