Chapter 242: A Successful Ambush

When two sides meet in a narrow path, the brave one wins. If these Zhengqi Sect Disciples had the courage to fight them to the death, it would be hard to say who would emerge victorious, but running away upon seeing an ambush meant their courage was already lost, and defeat was inevitable.

"Kill!" Qin Ming also put on a show of chasing them, hacking fiercely at a Zhengqi Sect Disciple.

Song Zhou was beside Qin Ming, also chasing a Zhengqi Sect Disciple.

Suddenly, the entire forest was filled with shouts of battle.

"Please spare me, I won't participate in the battle anymore." The Zhengqi Sect Disciple, being pressed and beaten by Qin Ming, cried out.

Seeing this coward's appearance, Qin Ming knew that this Zhengqi Sect Disciple must be on the battlefield for the first time.

He was the one who shouted the loudest about running away, but he was also the slowest, and was easily caught up by Qin Ming.

Now that he saw he couldn't beat Qin Ming, he started begging for mercy again.

"Since you decided to join the battle, you have to fight to the end. There's no reason to let you go halfway through a fight." Qin Ming laughed.

He had made up his mind to fish in troubled waters. The other Zhengqi Sect Disciples were already being engaged by others, and if he let this person go, how could he keep up the act?

The Zhengqi Sect Disciples had lost their courage; their defeat was like a collapsing mountain, and casualties soon began to appear.

On the Qixin Sect's side, Zhang Lujun was indeed a Ninth-Layer Martial Master, and his Spirit Skill was used quite well. In just a few moments, two Zhengqi Sect Disciples had already died at his hands.

Qin Ming saw that the time was about right, so he used a bit of his strength and killed the begging Zhengqi Sect Disciple outright.

"Song Qing, not bad, you killed one too?" Song Zhou walked to Qin Ming's side holding a severed head, saying with a grin.

Qin Ming tidied up the Zhengqi Sect Disciple's corpse and laughed: "Your speed at killing is faster than mine, and my opponent was just a coward, incomparable to yours."

Song Zhou patted Qin Ming on the shoulder and said: "In the future, don't stray too far from me during battle. If you encounter danger, I won't be able to come to your rescue in time."

Qin Ming nodded and said: "Thank you, Senior Brother Song. Next time, I will definitely stay closer to you."

"Alright, everyone come here!" Zhang Lujun shouted loudly after seeing that everyone had finished off their opponents.

Everyone took their spoils of war and walked over to Zhang Lujun.

Qin Ming looked over the team and discovered that, except for two Disciples who sustained light injuries, there were no losses.

They had killed some enemies, about a dozen or so, but clearly, these dozen were not enough for such a large team to divide.

After Zhang Lujun and the others had gathered, he said: "What do you think? Should we continue the ambush, or go back first?"

Qin Ming and Song Zhou hadn't spoken yet, when other Disciples clamored:

"Why go back? Carrying one head isn't a burden!"

"If we go back now, there aren't enough heads to go around; not even one per person. If we go back, won't we have to come out again anyway?"

Zhang Lujun said: "Since that's the case, let's continue the ambush! Let's discuss it again after everyone has collected enough heads!"

"Great! Following Senior Brother Zhang means there's meat to eat!"

"That's right, following Senior Brother Zhang is definitely the right choice. Where else could we find such a good opportunity to earn contribution points back there?"

Hearing Zhang Lujun say they would continue the ambush, the group flattered Zhang Lujun, making him feel extremely pleased.

"Let's go. There's already the scent of blood here; it's not safe. Let's find somewhere else to set an ambush!" Zhang Lujun waved his hand and said.

Under Zhang Lujun's leadership, the group found another spot and set an ambush in the same way as before.

Having experienced one successful surprise attack, the group's morale was high.

And this successful surprise attack made Zhang Lujun's prestige within the team even higher.
