Chapter 243: Hypocrite
Two hours passed, and no one passed by nearby.
Having had the experience once before, the group was not anxious and waited patiently.
Heaven rewards the diligent; after another two hours, a team of Zhengqi Sect Disciples walked over.
Zhang Lujun sensed the approaching team, his eyes narrowing sharply. There were two ninth-level Martial Masters in that team, and they outnumbered his group.
As the team drew closer, everyone realized the strength of this Zhengqi Sect Disciple team and immediately held their breath, waiting for them to pass.
"Please don't discover us, please don't discover us!"
The group prayed silently in their hearts.
"Who's there?" a ninth-level Martial Master from the Zhengqi Sect shouted, "There's someone over there!"
Immediately, all the Zhengqi Sect Disciples drew their weapons and looked towards the spot where Qin Ming and the others were hiding.
A figure darted out quickly and ran into the distance.
Qin Ming focused his gaze and saw that this person was none other than Zhang Lujun.
Good grief, this Zhang Lujun turned out to be a hypocrite; upon encountering danger, he abandoned everyone here and was the first to run away.
"Run!" Qin Ming shouted, and he also darted out.
"Kill!" The Zhengqi Sect Disciples also reacted and swarmed forward to attack.
Qin Ming grabbed Song Zhou, who had also darted out, and ran into the distance.
Song Zhou's speed was nowhere near as fast as Qin Ming's, so Qin Ming had to carry him along as they ran.
Shouts of killing erupted behind them. Those Zhengqi Sect Disciples did not pursue the blindingly fast Qin Ming, but instead chose to target the Qixin Sect Disciples behind him.
"Thank you, Qin Ming, you run so fast!" Song Zhou, gasping for breath while leaning against a tree, thanked him.
"You've helped me with so many things; it's only right that I help you in return!" Qin Ming laughed.
Song Zhou waved his hand and said, "That's different. When I helped you, I was helping myself. But in the situation just now, you were saving my life. How can that be compared?"
Qin Ming patted Song Zhou on the shoulder without saying anything.
"How many managed to run out just now?" Song Zhou asked.
Among those people, several were from his former team, and he had a good relationship with them.
Qin Ming said, "Most of them didn't get away; they were pinned down!"
"Sigh…" Song Zhou sighed and said, "It's all Zhang Lujun's fault. If he hadn't run away first, we wouldn't have suffered such heavy losses."
Zhang Lujun's premature escape had given the opposing Zhengqi Sect time to prepare, causing the number of people who could successfully escape to be greatly reduced.
"What are your plans?" Qin Ming asked.
Qin Ming didn't care at all about the others who remained.
They had no friendship with Qin Ming; it was just a mutual utilization, so if they died, they died.
"What other plans could I have? I'll just return to the Sect!" Song Zhou sighed. "Everyone is dead, so even if I wanted to continue participating in the battle, I wouldn't have the chance."
Qin Ming took the severed head from his back and handed it to Song Zhou, saying, "Take this. You dropped your spoils when you were running away. If you go back without any spoils, you'll be deducted five hundred Contribution Points."
"Then what about you?" Song Zhou asked, not taking it.
Qin Ming laughed, "I'm not going back. You know my speed is fast; I believe that if I want to run, no one can stop me. I still want to stay and participate in the battle to gain more Contribution Points!"
"Thank you, brother, thank you!" Song Zhou took the head Qin Ming handed him and said repeatedly.
Although he wanted to go back, he didn't want the deduction of contribution points. This head that Qin Ming gave him was truly timely help.
Qin Ming patted Song Zhou on the shoulder again and walked off into the distance.
"Brother, after this is over, I'll treat you to a drink!" Song Zhou shouted loudly.
Qin Ming waved his hand and walked away without looking back.
