Chapter 269: The Prince’s Mansion (6)
His fingertips were soft and warm like jade, brushing over her as lightly as feathers; it was a numbing sensation that sent an itch from the soles of her feet to her heart.
Seeing her reaction, the smile in Nangong Liuyun's eyes deepened. He lowered his head until his lips were almost touching hers.
Su Luo tried to move back, only to discover to her sorrow that she was wrapped so tightly in the quilt that she couldn't move at all.
Nangong Liuyun's hot breath fanned across her Face, his lips nearly brushing against hers as he whispered, "Stubborn as a mule. No one but this Prince has ever reached this place."
Finally, as if teasing her, he gave Su Luo's soft red lips a light peck.
He was taking liberties with her again!
Su Luo glared at him.
Nangong Liuyun raised an eyebrow with a roguish air. "Losing patience already? This is only the prelude. Tonight is a very long night—" He pinched Su Luo's tender pink cheeks while smiling broadly.
Although his tone was nonchalant, the meaning he intended to convey was stark and explicit.
Hearing this, Su Luo felt her skin crawl and a chill run down her spine.
This man and his wicked sense of humor! After tormenting her like this, he actually said it was only the prelude… only… then what would happen next? Su Luo wished tonight would pass quickly and daylight would arrive sooner.
As they say, never owe a debt of gratitude, for it must be paid back in the flesh.
No wonder the servants in the Prince's Mansion were terrified of him as if they had seen a ghost. It likely wasn't just his power and strength they feared; this man himself possessed the quality to inspire despair and panic.
Tonight… what would he do?
Instinctively, Su Luo felt a bit afraid. She turned, wanting to shrink back into the quilt like a tortoise withdrawing into its shell.
However, Nangong Liuyun was one step ahead. Without her even seeing how he moved, he simply grabbed a corner of the quilt and gave it a casual shake, causing Su Luo to roll into his arms like a ball.
Before Su Luo could turn back, Nangong Liuyun had already leaned down and captured her lips. His scent enveloped her, lingering in the air and stirring her heart.
Su Luo subconsciously pushed him with force. To her surprise, this push actually caused him to stumble.
When did Nangong Liuyun become so fragile?
Outside the window, thunder roared and rain fell in torrents, the pea-sized drops creating a tumultuous clatter.
Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled incessantly.
A bolt of lightning momentarily turned the night as bright as day, illuminating Nangong Liuyun's Face. Su Luo saw his brow furrow slightly.
Su Luo looked at him, thought for a moment, and then curled back into the brocade quilt, retreating to the inner side of the bed. She kept her clear, dark eyes wide open, staring at Nangong Liuyun without blinking.
This fellow cared about Face more than anything; having been pushed away like that, he would surely be provoked to anger out of embarrassment, wouldn't he?
However, to Su Luo's surprise, instead of pouncing on her like a predator again, Nangong Liuyun slowly turned over and lay halfway on his side. He pulled up the quilt, rested his head on his hands, and gave her a lazy glance. "Do you think you can escape tonight?"
Su Luo pursed her lips, looking at him thoughtfully.
Something was wrong.
This fellow was always a man of action whose deeds spoke louder than his words. Although he spoke arrogantly now, his actions had clearly ceased… What was going on?
The observant Su Luo immediately noticed something suspicious. As the lightning flashed, she looked at Nangong Liuyun's Face and saw clearly that his brow was deeply furrowed, and he appeared to be in significant discomfort.
But he wasn't injured… Su Luo felt strange in her heart.
