Chapter 270: Prince’s Mansion (7)
Seeing Su Luo looking at him, Nangong Liuyun raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a wicked, charming smirk as he said lazily, "Want to be on top? Sure, this Prince will give you the chance. Come on."
Shameless! A man with no bottom line! Would he die if he didn't take advantage of her verbally?
Su Luo glared at him resentfully, but Nangong Liuyun suddenly closed his eyes, a layer of sweat seemingly seeping from his forehead.
"Nangong, are you—" Su Luo sensed something was wrong. She rolled back the quilt and moved toward Nangong Liuyun's direction.
Nangong Liuyun waved his hand, flashing a bright smile as he said nonchalantly, "It's nothing, just an old injury. When the time comes, it hurts for a while."
An old injury? What kind of old wound could it be for Nangong Liuyun to call it as such?
It hurts for a while when the time comes? Does that mean it hurts intermittently after a certain period of time?
A flash of pity shot through Su Luo's heart. She couldn't imagine how much pain it must be to make Nangong Liuyun's face change from the agony… For a moment, she was at a loss, not knowing what to do.
Nangong Liuyun turned on his side, propping himself up with one hand, looking at her with a smile.
However, Su Luo clearly saw the cold sweat pouring from his forehead in beads, soaking his chest and back. He smiled as he always did, but it felt so pale.
"You—" Su Luo wanted to ask if he had any painkillers or something similar, but then she thought better of it. If even Nangong's strength couldn't suppress this pain, what use would painkillers be?
Nangong Liuyun suddenly closed his eyes. He turned over and pulled the quilt up to cover himself. "Alright, it's getting late. If you don't want to sleep here, go find Ling Feng; he will arrange everything for you."
His tone was somewhat hurried and restrained as he covered himself entirely with the quilt, his voice sounding muffled.
Su Luo couldn't see his expression, but seeing him curled up with his back arched and the quilt trembling slightly, he seemed to be in great pain.
Su Luo was somewhat dazed, her heart filled with waves of unease.
What exactly was wrong with Nangong Liuyun? How could such a powerful, overbearing, and arrogant man be in this much pain?
And looking at him, it seemed this old injury had been bothering him for a long time, flaring up periodically?
Su Luo didn't leave. She sat up, hugging her knees with her hands, her head tilted as she watched Nangong Liuyun.
Nangong Liuyun fell into a deep sleep. The quilt covering his face slipped to the side, revealing his pale, handsome face covered in sweat.
The wind was howling outside. In this kind of weather, it was easy to catch a cold if the sweat wasn't wiped dry.
Su Luo thought for a moment, then tiptoed off the bed and went outside.
Servants were always waiting at the door. Under Su Luo's instructions, a basin of hot water and a folded, snow-white silk handkerchief were quickly brought.
"I'll go in myself. You continue your watch." Su Luo dismissed the servant with a word and personally carried the hot water into the inner chamber.
A proud man like Nangong Liuyun certainly wouldn't want anyone to see his vulnerable side.
Su Luo placed the jade basin on the table, wrung out the handkerchief, and gently wiped Nangong Liuyun's sweat-drenched face.
Nangong Liuyun's brow was tightly furrowed, and his face was terrifyingly pale.
Although she had wished she could slap him to death earlier, seeing him like this now, a pang of pity crossed Su Luo's heart. Her fingers involuntarily caressed his face, gently sliding toward the space between his eyebrows.
He seemed to relax a little.
Being able to do something within her power for him made Su Luo feel quite happy.
