Chapter 298

"But since you have come to see me, I will respond to your call."

"Then let me put it this way."

She spoke, as if delivering a speech,

"I am the Voice of the People (Vox Populi), the mouthpiece of the world, the will of all living beings. The gates of Paradise open at my knock."

"I am the Omega, I am the White Night. The time has come; I will descend upon the earth, and the sins of all living beings shall be forgiven by my hand alone."

"I am the God of Humanity (Homo-Deus), the wish of the world, the hope of the masses, conceived by all of humanity together."

She spoke very softly. But as she spoke, Qi Xing gradually began to see the true nature of this White God.

She wore a snow-white dress, her skin whiter than snow, sacred and incomparable.

But now, as Venerable Leipu focused his gaze intently, he could see that neither her dress nor her body was made of cloth or flesh and blood.

It was people.

The things that made up every inch of her skin, wove every strand of her long hair, and piled up to form her white dress—Qi Xing saw clearly at a glance—were all densely packed, hundreds of millions of humans, miniaturized to the extreme!

Of course, they were not real people; they could not be truly living humans. Ordinary people could not see them, but Qi Xing indeed saw countless tiny faces undulating on the White God's skirt. Some were laughing, some crying, some praying; countless tiny arms were tightly intertwined, forming the graceful lines of her arms; countless souls were squeezing, merging, and stacking against each other, together supporting this magnificent divine body.

She was not one person.

"Qi Xing, why are you afraid?"

Having said this, the White God actually revealed a beautiful smile,

"You are my most beloved, from the very beginning, I have been watching you, until now."

Her voice was so beautiful, better than any singing in the world, because it sounded like the grand reverberation of billions of people speaking at once, and because that voice contained the deepest desires of every human heart.

She sat on a high throne and reached out her hand to Qi Xing. As long as he grasped this hand, Qi Xing could grasp all of humanity and obtain all the authority between heaven and earth.

"I am Leviathan."

"The time is ripe. From now on, I will reveal that most wonderful, incomparably brilliant path before you."

This scene, these words, and the overwhelming grand will that rushed towards him made even Qi Xing exhale a breath of murky air and frown.

"Interesting."

He shielded Sasa behind him and then asked,

"But why shouldn't I choose this silly god I've already raised, and instead choose you? Just because you're white? Clearly, silly Sasa is the Creator God."

"Because the Creator God is merely the source of all living beings, and there is nothing noble or great about that."

"But I am the result of the choice of all living beings."

The White God, as if admiring her own body, elegantly raised her arm, and countless tiny lips opened and closed on her skin, declaring in unison.

" 'The will of the people is the will of heaven.' By comparison, what is a mere capricious and reckless Creator God?"

Heh.

No wonder Simon Magus also likes to hide inside the Dream of All Living Beings. You two both play this game, right?

Qi Xing could actually understand, really. This logic was at least not completely unreasonable.

But he still couldn't help but laugh.

"So, what do you, the 'Voice of the People,' plan to do after you win?"

Hearing this question, the smile on the White God's face instantly became even brighter.

"I will bring about the ultimate peace."

She opened her arms, with movements as elegant as if she were about to embrace the entire world.

And as she moved, the white radiance behind her, woven from countless souls, transformed into thousands of illusions, performing the future vision she promised in the void.

"Conflict stems from 'difference,' pain stems from 'estrangement.' If there is no distinction between you and me, there will be no strife; if wealth is not unequal, there will be no resentment; if beliefs are not different, there will be no war."

"The world created by Samael is too chaotic, too free, and too painful."

The White God's eyes, composed of countless orbs, gazed affectionately at Qi Xing, as well as the billions of dead souls he carried on his shoulders and behind him.

"You are me, I am you, he is she… Then there will be no more strife, no more deception, no more loneliness in this world."

"Qi Xing, come. There is no need to be a lonely Demon King anymore."

At the tips of the fingers the White God extended, countless tiny souls were merging and wriggling against each other.

"There is no need for everyone to think, no need for everyone to choose,"

"Because 'we' can make the best choice together."

"Even death will no longer be needed, because in fusion, there is no such thing as death."

"This is the deepest desire in the subconscious of all living beings. A kind of eternal security that requires no pain and no responsibility."

Her voice carried a sweetness and tranquility capable of melting steel, as if wanting to make people immerse themselves in eternal amniotic fluid.

Sasa shook her head desperately at Qi Xing, but Qi Xing just waved his hand at her, telling her not to panic.

"So? Specifically, what does that mean?"

He asked again,

"All of humanity living forever without worry or pain, everyone's consciousness and bodies connected together, indulging in sex all day?"

Xue Ning would probably like that. The Peacock Disciples are indeed all a bit messed up.

"But what is wrong with that?"

The White God tilted her head in surprise,

"I am the representative formed by the condensation of the consciousness of all living beings. I am the final decision of their desires. What everyone wants most must be the best thing."

"Nonsense."

This might not be completely unreasonable, but Qi Xing still scoffed,

"What representative? What consensus?"

"Connecting everyone's souls means you can represent me? Don't be ridiculous—who the hell wants to be connected to the dirty souls of this world?"

Huh?

This was so sudden that it actually made the White God pause for a moment.

You, you, you—is this what a savior protagonist says?

"Qi Xing, Qi Xing, that was going too far."

Even Sasa couldn't help but mutter.

"Too far, my ass."

Qi Xing sneered,

"The reason I didn't agree to your brother smashing this universe directly was half because I care about you, and half because I knew that the perversion of the beings in this universe wasn't entirely their own fault."

His gaze swept over the countless minds and consciousnesses that made up the White God,

"In this universe, not everyone can act according to their own free will and conscience; some people don't even have freedom of the soul at all."

"I reject your Great Fusion, White God. I want to create a new world where everyone can freely decide."

"Only those who can directly make decisions for themselves are true masters. Those who use representatives to make decisions for them are still just slaves."

The White God on the throne finally frowned: "I am the most ideal and free world; there is no better choice."

"That's because your imagination is lacking."

Qi Xing had already raised his hand,

"Enough talk, false god. Let's fight."

"This is the final battle."

The final battle.

That sounded pretty good. But Qi Xing already possessed the Heart of God and twenty-nine "silver coins," possessing almost all the power in this universe. How could a mere false god fight him? Shouldn't she be instantly killed by him with a wave of his hand?

However, the White God did not look afraid or worried.

"Incomprehensible."

She just sighed, and the incredible happened.

One, two, three, four, five… the twenty-nine "silver coins" actually flowed out from Qi Xing's hands one after another, flowing into the body of the White God, who was composed of countless people!

In an instant, her power surged and skyrocketed! Holding 29/30 of the universe's authority in her hands, she was truly the Creator reborn, a true god!

With such a terrifying evil god, how could Qi Xing, who had suddenly lost all the "silver coins," fight her? How could he win? Wouldn't he be finished in an instant?!

But looking at Qi Xing now—on his face, he revealed the most relaxed and happy smile since he obtained the "silver coins."

"Very good. Finally, it's good."

He clenched his fists.

"Now this is what I call a bit of a challenge."

In a daze, Sasa couldn't help but feel,

This scene was just like a reenactment of the battle between Jesus and Samael two thousand years ago.

God.

What kind of existence is worthy of being called a god?

As mentioned before, the same word represents completely different meanings in different languages. To the Canaanites, "God" (EL) is "a person with great power"; to the Ugaritians, "God" (EL) is "a person who makes laws"; to the ancient Indians, "God" (Deva) is "a person who shines"; to the Romans, "God" (Deus) is "a person who lives in heaven."

What can be considered a god? Is anyone who lives in heaven and can cast lightning considered a god?

A halo behind the head, over three meters tall, permanently wearing terrifyingly gorgeous golden armor, holding a never-extinguishing flame sword, capable of blowing up the sun—is this worthy of being called a god?

Possessing the authority to create worlds from nothingness, is that a god?

It is truly difficult to explain metaphysical things with language. But at this moment, what Qi Xing was facing was exactly such an existence.

The White God finally stood up from the black throne that originally belonged to Sasa.

There was no unnecessary warm-up, nor any probing moves. At this moment, they directly crossed the boundaries of the mundane and entered the true battle.

Infinite power annihilated each other in the collision. The impact was so strong that it even razed the surrounding mental landscapes constructed by the desires of all living beings to the ground.

Sasa was almost blown away amidst her screams, but Qi Xing laughed and held her with one arm. With his other hand, he casually propped it forward—and held up the entire "world" that was rushing towards him.

— — Do you think you're Jesus, for fuck's sake? Holding up the world with one hand?

But even Jesus nodded; what monster in this world would dare to complain about that?

None. There absolutely wouldn't be!

Therefore, the "world" could not withstand Qi Xing's one hand either.

A tiny universe was born from this collision, but that was no longer important.

This was not a battle on the physical level, nor was it a contest on the spiritual level. This was a conflict difficult to describe with language, a conflict of high-dimensional power, transcending the limits of any mortal's understanding, something that stood above physical laws and cosmic axioms.

So profound, so indescribable, galaxies became one, hundreds of thousands of things, billions of moments, all endless and infinite angles and incalculable phases, all folded into infinite fractals in the collision of the two wills.

The City of Inevitable Rise, surrounding the place that had never existed before, wrapping around the throne of God, lifting the Earth, lifting the Sun, lifting the entire galaxy, up to the entire universe, as well as the vaster void realm that must surround it.

Everything was intertwined and entangled, like boxes nested within boxes, all with this throne as the center, with this very moment as the core. All things, all space, all time would meet here; matter, energy, concepts—everything converged here, connected by invisible threads of causality.

Therefore, all things, all places, all times were subject to the dominion of this throne.

This was the battle for the throne. The winner could dominate all the layered boxes.

… At least the White God thought this was the battle for the throne.

She stood up, stood up, and burning power rose from her body. Their battle was here, and it unfolded in every place connected to the throne—in the sky, on the earth, expanding infinitely into the distant far side of time. Their battle might still be happening in the future, with no termination in linear time.

She played her cards one by one.

A long, long time ago, Sasa created the universe using the symbols and meanings of thirty Tarot cards. This was obviously not a very accurate method. The interpretation of the symbols had too much elasticity, the meanings were too vague, and overall, it was not reliable.

But Sasa was too stupid after all, and could only use this method to build the universe. They were imprints of concepts. Thirty cards, combining intuitive definitions that could not be described in language with cosmic archetypes.

Now, it was the White God's turn to fight Qi Xing with this deck of cards.
