Chapter 38: Finding the Target
What is he doing?
At this moment, not only Cage, but also others who witnessed Godzilla's actions, were filled with questions.
The next moment, they thought of a possibility.
This Creature, he is looking for someone!
As soon as this guess appeared, they rejected it.
Human arrogance naturally led them to believe that other Creatures, whether Alien or indigenous, were all unintelligent beings.
Therefore, they subconsciously rejected the possibility that a Creature with such terrifying power could also possess considerable intelligence.
If that were truly the case, how could humanity survive!
Just as Cage was running back, he suddenly realized that Godzilla seemed to be looking at him.
Cage subconsciously looked into Godzilla's eyes, and at this moment he suddenly had an illusion that he seemed to be making eye contact with this giant Creature.
Then, the next second, he saw the giant Creature's claw reaching out towards him.
Boom boom boom!
However, Cage, who instinctively shielded himself with his hands, did not feel his body being lifted into the air; instead, a series of roars echoed in his ears!
Accompanying it was a wave of scorching heat that rushed towards him!
Then, Cage immediately felt his body uncontrollably flying backward.
If it weren't for the exoskeleton acting as a buffer, Cage felt that he might have been shaken to death by the shockwave.
"Ptooey ptooey ptooey~"
Cage shook his head vigorously, spitting out several mouthfuls of dirt from his mouth.
As Cage lay on the beach and looked up, he saw countless streaks of light flashing overhead, then hitting the head of that Creature.
The intense explosions never stopped!
Almost all the weapons of the aircraft that had not yet been destroyed by the Alien creatures were aimed at Godzilla; at this moment, countless shells hit him.
It even made Godzilla unable to open his eyes.
The flames generated by those explosions were not very powerful, but they did obstruct his vision.
Then—Godzilla took less than three seconds to evolve a transparent nictitating membrane to block the impact and flames from his eyes.
After that, these exploding missiles couldn't even make him blink.
Godzilla raised both claws, then clapped them together!
A visible shockwave spread out in a circle from Godzilla's claws.
Wherever the shockwave passed, whether it was humans, aircraft, or various vehicles, everything stopped moving and became paralyzed in place!
Even the Alien creatures were affected.
Those Alien creatures seemed to have been put on pause, frozen in place, as if disconnected, only returning to normal after a second.
At this point, it finally quieted down.
Not to mention the aircraft that were originally flying in the air slowly falling in the distance, the humans constantly running on the ground were now unable to move freely due to their exoskeletons malfunctioning from the Electromagnetic Pulse.
Without power, the weight of those exoskeletons made them impossible to move while wearing them.
However, while these exoskeletons might not look aesthetically pleasing, their functions were quite powerful.
During their manufacturing, the possibility of power outages or attacks from Electromagnetic Pulses had already been considered.
Therefore, taking them off was just a matter of pressing a button.
But without the enhancement of the exoskeletons, their speed inevitably slowed down.
Godzilla quickly grabbed the nearest human who wasn't wearing a helmet.
He sniffed, and upon realizing it wasn't his target, he casually put him down on the ground.
Then he reached for another nearby human.
"What's going on? What's going on? Last time there was no such Creature, why did it appear this time? Why!?"
Cage shouted loudly as he fled.
At this moment, the words coming out of his mouth were completely unfiltered; he basically said whatever came to mind, as if only by doing so could he release the emotions he had suppressed for so long.
And as Cage was fleeing, he didn't notice that someone had appeared beside him.
"What do you mean by 'last time' that you just mentioned?"
A woman grabbed one of Cage's arms, almost making him fall.
Cage turned to look at the woman who was holding him, speaking incoherently: "What did you say? Last time?"
"Yes, when was the last time?"
"Wasn't the last time just a few hours ago?"
"How long are 'a few hours'? I don't know anymore."
"Anyway, I've experienced today countless times, and I've been to this battlefield countless times. To be honest, I don't want to come back. Also—"
Cage looked at his grabbed arm and said, "Can you let go for a moment? My arm hurts a lot."
Having been forcefully pulled, his arm almost dislocated.
But the incoherent Cage didn't notice the complex expression on the face of the woman holding him.
"Listen, after you wake up, come find me."
She cupped Cage's face with both hands, making him look at her.
"What?"
"Why should I go find you? Do I have any connection with you?"
"Let go quickly, that Creature is coming."
Cage looked nervously at Godzilla, wanting to escape quickly.
Seeing that Cage had already lost his reason, the woman didn't hesitate and slapped Cage across the face.
Slap~
This crisp slap brought Cage back to his senses a little.
"Listen, after you wake up, come find me, understood!?"
She said loudly.
Cage nodded blankly; he still didn't know who this woman was.
But then again, why did he feel like this woman looked familiar? As if he had seen her somewhere—the next second, he saw the woman opposite him pull out a pistol and aim it at him.
Looking at the dark muzzle, Cage's returning sanity increased.
It wasn't because of the will to survive under the threat of the gun, but because he finally realized something was wrong.
What does it mean to 'find you after waking up'?
What does this mean?
"You—"
Cage had just managed to utter one word when he heard a bang, and the woman's finger moved, firing the gun.
At the same time, Godzilla finally saw Cage.
He had long detected a very high mixture of human and Alien Creature scents in this area, and among a large group of humans almost all fleeing, Cage and the other person, a man and a woman, standing there, were quite conspicuous.
Could it be!?
Instinct told Godzilla that he might have found his target.
But when the human female raised her gun and aimed at Cage, Godzilla's pupils constricted, and he immediately became anxious.
You goddamn stop it!!!
At this moment, Godzilla unleashed his Atomic Breath at the fastest speed he had ever achieved.
And before losing consciousness, Cage only saw a terrifying blue beam of light hit the woman, and she instantly turned to ashes!
