Chapter 39: My Heart Hurts

Chapter 39: That Stings, My Friend

Jietian Sect, Heavenly Fox Mountain.

Inside a magnificent, mist-shrouded palace, a young woman, around ten years old, similar in age to Yue Chan, sat cross-legged, cultivating.

She wore a black gauze dress, which contrasted sharply with her fair, jade-like skin. She was graceful and ethereal, like a Spirit.

Though young, the girl had delicate features, a radiant intelligence, and a playful charm. Her arched eyebrows and lively eyes made her extraordinary. She was sure to become a devastating beauty when she grew up.

At this moment, the girl suddenly awoke from her meditation. With a wave of her translucent, jade-like hand, the main door opened, and a maid with six fox tails entered.

“Saintess, a major event has occurred in the Spirit Realm, and it concerns you,” the fox-tailed maid reported, her eyes blinking with captivating charm.

“Oh, what is it?” the Demonic Woman asked, her voice clear and melodious, like the sound of nature.

“Butian Sect…” The fox-tailed maid meticulously recounted the entire incident concerning the Sikong family in Ganfeng City in the Spirit Realm.

The Demonic Woman was startled at first, then chuckled, her gaze captivating and intoxicating. She said, “Interesting. I’ve long heard that Butian Sect has a hidden First Generation. It must be that person.”

“Saintess, you must be careful. That First Generation from Butian Sect is not simple. He reached the peak of the Cave Heaven Realm before the age of nine, and his Physical Body is even more formidable. He defeated Sikong Ming without even using his precious techniques,” the fox-tailed maid warned.

“It seems my little Chan'er has gained an extraordinary Junior Brother, who has given her the confidence to challenge me in the Spirit Realm,” the Demonic Woman blinked her playful eyes, resting her chin on her hand in thought.

She was considering how to deal with this matter, or rather, how to deal with Yue Chan and her Junior Brother.

The fox-tailed maid beside her suggested, “Saintess, I think you can temporarily ignore them and focus on improving your cultivation.”

“No, wouldn’t that make it seem like I’m afraid of them, the Senior Sister and Junior Brother? I, the Demonic Woman, can lose to anyone, but I absolutely cannot lose to Yue Chan,” the Demonic Woman shook her head, her eyes sparkling, her pearly teeth gleaming, looking very lively and adorable.

“But…” The fox-tailed girl worried. As far as she knew, her Saintess had only recently opened nine Cave Heavens. How could she be that person’s opponent now?

The Demonic Woman smiled sweetly, her lips curving upward, and said mischievously, “Who said I’m going to challenge them now? Let them, the Senior Sister and Junior Brother, wait. Since little Chan'er has a Junior Brother helping her, can’t I invite others?”

“Saintess, are you thinking of…?”

“Exactly!” The Demonic Woman stood up, brushed her dark hair, her lively eyes full of smiles, and gracefully walked out.

In Ganfeng City, a man and a woman departed under the gaze of the crowd. They couldn't wait there for long. Since they had issued a challenge, if the other party intended to accept, they would naturally respond.

However, not long after they left, the Spirit Realm was abuzz, attracting the attention of many forces.

Butian Sect had produced a powerful Genius who, relying solely on his Physical Body, swept through a not-so-small clan and utterly defeated its Heavenly Genius.

“This couldn’t be the hidden First Generation of Butian Sect, could it…?”

“Even if not, with his potential and talent, would he be any worse than those others?”

“Incredible! This generation’s Saintess of Butian Sect is said to be a True Immortal Reincarnation, and now they’ve produced someone with extraordinary talent. They are destined for great prosperity!” everyone exclaimed.

At the same time, upon closer thought, it seemed that this era had an unusually high number of Geniuses.

For example, First Generation Li Yuncong from Tianyun Prefecture, Feng Wu from Heavenly Immortal State, Zhen Gu from the Spirit Clan, Lightning Child, and others. Almost every major state had a First Generation, some even more than one, emerging like bamboo shoots after rain, a galaxy of stars shining brightly.

Of course, it wasn’t that there were none in the past. Creatures like First Generation, while not numerous, weren’t too few either. After all, the Three Thousand Provinces are vast, and every era always has some, but never as many as now.

This seemed like the arrival of a Golden Age, with various Geniuses clustered in one era, young Supremes emerging together, not to mention those ancient monsters who had been lurking.

“After the golden age comes the curtain call…”

Suddenly, someone in the crowd, no one knew who, let out an untimely, melancholic sigh.

It was as if everything would rapidly decline in glory, the Great Age would wither, the world would fall into darkness, the Universe would be shattered, and battles would rage endlessly!

In the Purple Bamboo Forest, the two who had returned to their true forms were as they were before they left; their true forms remained motionless, without the slightest change.

“Junior Brother, I didn’t realize I was so important in your heart?” Yue Chan’s large eyes were wide, sparkling and moist, her gaze shifting.

“No, no, no, little Yueyue, you’re overthinking it. If it weren’t for the Boundary-Breaking Talisman, I wouldn’t have said those disgusting things, ugh…” Lin Fan pretended to gag.

Yue Chan: “…”

Damn it, that stings, my friend. Can’t you let me be happy for a moment?

When there’s a benefit, it’s “Senior Sister,” but when there’s no benefit, it’s “little Yueyue” with every breath. It truly fits the saying, “heartless after benefiting…”

“No girl will ever like you like this,” Yue Chan finally said, frowning slightly.

“It’s fine, as long as Pretty Sister likes me. At worst, I’ll just snatch her directly later. It’s so much simpler and I don’t have to invest true feelings,” Lin Fan replied, not caring in the least.

After all, life is precious, but love is even more so. If for freedom, both can be cast aside. Therefore, the first sword of cultivation cuts down the one in your heart!

“Alright, this Junior Brother is beyond saving!” Yue Chan rubbed her fair forehead, completely exasperated.

“Oh, right, settle the bill. We did hard labor, so we can’t have credit. Otherwise, I’ll… Hehehe…” Lin Fan rubbed his hands, smiling sinisterly, his meaning more than obvious.

“Hmph, here.” Yue Chan’s expression stiffened, and with a slight heartache, she threw out a divine talisman. Now she was a pauper again.

But it seemed she had never been rich. Ever since she met this guy, Heaven knew how many treasures she had lost over the years.

She had even lost the divine sword she always used and hadn’t gotten it back yet, leaving her without a single decent treasure.

“Thank you, boss. Next time, let’s continue. I can give you a discount.” Lin Fan, money-grubbing, took the Boundary-Breaking Divine Talisman and tucked it into his embrace, feeling incredibly pleased.

Once used, this talisman could transport one from one state to another, making it difficult even for a Heavenly God to track their whereabouts.

“You play by yourself. I’m going back into seclusion. When I Breakthrough to ten Cave Heavens, I’ll come back and reclaim everything.” Yue Chan stomped her foot in anger and quickly left.

But after leaving this pure land, she smiled again. Overall, she was still in a good mood, at least she had struck a blow against her arch-rival, the Demonic Woman.

However, when Yuechan's Uncle saw her, he felt strange and asked, “Chan’er, did you not roll in the mud today?”

“Roll in what?” Yue Chan asked suspiciously.

“Don’t you feel too much pressure as a Saintess, so every once in a while you go find a place to roll around and vent your emotions?” her Uncle said.

Several times he had seen Yue Chan go out and come back covered in dirt, but this time she wasn’t, and she was even smiling foolishly. Could it be that her mental illness was getting worse?

“No, I’ll go talk to the Sect Master and have you resign from your Saintess position. Doesn’t the sect have a First Generation? Let him be the Saint,” her Uncle muttered to himself.

Hearing this, Yue Chan’s forehead was lined with black, and she clenched her small, delicate fists. She really wanted to punch her Uncle on the forehead for his wild thoughts!

How could someone who valued purity so much possibly roll in the mud? It was always because that annoying guy beat her up every time.

But thinking of Lin Fan’s strength, if he were really established as the Saint, wouldn’t that be… She blushed slightly, her heart fluttering.

“It’s over. She’s truly gone silly from being a Saintess. Not only is she laughing for no reason, but her face is also flushed.” Yuechan's Uncle’s heart sank, and he felt a sudden sense of foreboding.
