Chapter 40: I Think Your Salary Needs an Adjustment
Chen Mo looked at Wang Maonian's flabby body and chuckled to himself.
He walked briskly around the cafeteria, checking the progress of the renovations.
He found that the renovations were moving quite fast, with more than half already completed. At this rate, the cafeteria should be finished in about another week.
Then again, it made sense.
Aside from the kitchen area, which was a bit complicated, the rest of the cafeteria mostly just involved tiling and painting.
"President Chen, the person here to take measurements has arrived," Shen Rou said softly as she suddenly walked up to his side.
"They're here? Let's go over then."
…
At the entrance of the newly rented workshop, Wang Yang saw President Chen, whom he had met once before, approaching and hurriedly greeted him. "Hello, President Chen!"
Having just arrived at the workshop entrance, he noticed there were no other competitors present, so he knew he was the only one there to take measurements this time.
He felt very grateful that President Chen could trust him so much.
"Hmm, let's go in and take a look," Chen Mo replied with a smile and led the way into the newly rented workshop.
Upon entering the workshop, he looked around and noticed that its layout was different from the cafeteria; it had several simple rooms that were likely originally used as offices.
"President Chen, how do you plan to renovate this?" Wang Yang asked after looking at the interior layout.
"I plan to convert the entire workshop into employee dormitories."
"Do you have any requirements for the size and layout of the dormitories, President Chen?"
Chen Mo thought for a moment and said, "Design them for two people per room, not bunk beds. Also, each room must have a private bathroom, and the overall space shouldn't be too cramped. Furthermore, every room needs to have its own independent air conditioning unit."
He had originally intended to make them all single rooms, but after seeing that there were married couples working in the workshop, he decided to design them as double rooms instead.
"President Chen, if we use central air conditioning and connect air vents to each room, it would be much more cost-effective than independent units," Wang Yang said, trying to apply the experience Brother Jun had passed on to him yesterday.
"Not necessary."
"Every employee has different temperature requirements for their dormitory. Some like it colder, some don't like it too cold. Central air conditioning can't accommodate that. Only by installing an air conditioner in every room can employees adjust the temperature to whatever they want."
Chen Mo refused without a second thought and glanced at Wang Yang indifferently. He thought to himself, 'Why do you think I called you here? Isn't it so you can increase the budget?'
"I understand, President Chen." Wang Yang nodded weakly. He felt immense pressure from the look President Chen had just given him, as if he were the President's enemy.
"Then, President Chen, are there any other requirements besides these?"
"Yes, the final requirement is that all materials used for the renovation must be the same as those in the cafeteria—choose big brands, including the beds, bathroom fixtures, air conditioners, and other items," Chen Mo said to Wang Yang seriously.
"Understood, President Chen." Wang Yang nodded obediently and then began taking measurements with his tools. Chen Mo thought for a moment, and having not forgotten anything that needed to be instructed, he left directly.
…
"President Chen, your coffee." Shortly after he sat down, Shen Rou walked over with a cup of coffee.
Chen Mo looked at Shen Rou. He felt that there was something different about her today, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
"President Chen, what would you like for lunch today? I'll go arrange it," Shen Rou asked, not leaving immediately.
"Whatever, anything is fine." Chen Mo thought about it, but he didn't know what he wanted to eat.
However, he finally realized why Shen Rou was different today. It seemed that ever since entering the company today, she had been paying special attention to his every move. If he wanted water, it was brought to him. If he wanted to adjust the air conditioning temperature, she had already adjusted it for him beforehand. What was going on!
Chen Mo looked at Shen Rou, who was sitting at her workstation, with a puzzled expression, not understanding why she had suddenly changed. After thinking about it, he felt a bit uneasy.
"Shen Rou."
"President Chen, is there something you need?" Hearing the call, Shen Rou immediately walked over.
Chen Mo looked at Shen Rou as she approached and organized his thoughts slightly before saying, "The things you've been doing today… aren't they a bit too attentive?"
"President Chen, I've been reading some books on professional assistant and secretarial duties. These are things a competent assistant should do; you don't need to worry." Hearing the question, Shen Rou quickly explained.
Is that so? So assistants have this responsibility too! Hearing Shen Rou's explanation, Chen Mo was finally relieved.
Hmm, hiring this assistant was worth it; she even arranges my food and daily needs. It's worth it, truly worth it. Is a salary of 8,000 yuan a bit too low for such a competent assistant?
Chen Mo secretly probed the system; how could he miss such a good opportunity to increase her salary? After a while, he slowly looked up and said to Shen Rou.
"You've done very well. As an assistant, your performance has improved, so I've decided to adjust your salary again."
"Starting next month, your salary will be 10,000." This was the result he had tested with the system.
"Ah!" Shen Rou exclaimed in surprise. A raise? Didn't she just get a raise a little while ago? Her next month's salary hadn't even been paid out yet, and now it had gone up by another 2,000 yuan. This…
Shen Rou didn't know how to describe her feelings at this moment; she was happy, but it also felt a bit unreal. Furthermore, she was only doing these things to fulfill her duties as an assistant as best as she could; she hadn't considered the issue of a raise at all.
"President Chen, I'm not doing these things because I want a raise."
"I know, but as your boss, if your capabilities improve, you naturally deserve a raise. It's not just you; if it were anyone else, it would be the same." President Chen said with a serious expression, not giving Shen Rou a chance to refuse.
"Thank you, President Chen." Shen Rou looked at President Chen's serious expression and felt very touched.
"By the way, I have a task for you." Chen Mo suddenly remembered the punishment method he had discovered in the cafeteria.
"President Chen, please tell me." Hearing that there was work to do, Shen Rou's expression immediately became serious.
"Go and notify the personnel in each department to assemble tomorrow morning for employee morning exercises."
"Understood." Shen Rou nodded. Although she didn't know why President Chen wanted to organize employee morning exercises, she believed that since he had decided to do so, he must have his reasons.
"By the way, President Chen, you also need to go to Cangxue Games today. Fang Chang from over there sent a message saying he has prepared several project proposals and wants you to come over and make a decision."
"Alright! I'll head over in a bit." Chen Mo sighed; he found that he was becoming increasingly busy.
However, since he was the one who arranged the project matters, he had to go over. There was no other way; since he took over Cangxue Games, he had to ensure the company developed new projects, otherwise, the system would judge it as intentional loss-making operations.
At Cangxue Games.
"President Chen, there are three project proposals here. Please take a look." Fang Chang nervously handed the proposals to Chen Mo. These three proposals were projects he had prepared before. They had excellent prospects, and he was confident that as long as they were produced, the company would definitely make a profit—it was just a question of how much. Unfortunately, they had all been rejected by the previous boss. He didn't know what President Chen would think of these proposals.
