Chapter 6: Zhou Feng!
Zhou Huai's heart stirred.
A quest had actually been triggered.
"Quest: Clear the Trial Tower and obtain first place in this challenge!"
"Reward: Class Orb Draw Chance X1!"
First place, huh?
This reward had to be taken!
Zhou Huai controlled Yasuo, his gaze sweeping across this unfamiliar forest.
Several jade-green, mantis-like Abyss mutated beasts, "Emerald Sickle Bugs", were crawling out from the bushes.
[Emerald Sickle Bug LV1]
[HP: 50 / 50]
Just small fries.
Yasuo's figure flashed, and the dark iron longsword in his hand brought forth a cold glint.
"Splat!"
The head of an Emerald Sickle Bug flew high into the air.
-50!
One-hit kill!
[Killed Emerald Sickle Bug LV1, gained EXP +5]
[Killed Emerald Sickle Bug LV1, gained EXP +5]
…
The crisp System notification tones rang continuously.
Yasuo was like a tiger entering a flock of sheep, dodging and leaping among the mob pile.
Every sword strike swung out accurately hit the vital spots of the Emerald Sickle Bugs.
These Level 1 small fries were simply unable to pose any threat to him.
This feeling was just like playing a first-person VR game with ultra-high freedom.
Exhilarating and refreshing!
In a short while, over a dozen Emerald Sickle Bugs were utterly slaughtered.
[Congratulations! Clone 'Yasuo' has leveled up to LV2!]
[Yasuo's all attributes increased!]
[Strength: 28 → 40]
[Agility: 56 → 80]
[Stamina: 25 → 35]
[Mental Energy: 22 → 30]
[HP: 150 → 200]
[Mana: 100 → 130]
Agility directly skyrocketed by more than twenty points!
Zhou Huai could clearly feel that Yasuo's body had become lighter, and his movements had also become increasingly swift.
The mutated beasts' attacks couldn't even touch the hem of his clothes.
Soon, all the mutated beasts on the first layer were cleared out.
A flash of light appeared ahead, and a staircase leading to the second layer slowly emerged.
Zhou Huai controlled Yasuo to step onto the staircase.
The scene instantly transformed.
The dense forest disappeared, replaced by a boundless grassland.
"Awoo——"
Several wolf howls rang out.
Four or five robust [Grassland Wind Wolves LV3] crawled out from the grass, their jade-green eyes staring fixedly at Yasuo, filled with vigilance.
Zhou Huai, however, did not make a move immediately.
He remembered that the Clone was equipped with the smart core ai System 1.0.
"System, enable Yasuo's intelligent AI."
[Intelligent AI enabling…]
[Successfully enabled!]
Zhou Huai's thought stirred, and his consciousness withdrew from Yasuo's body.
He switched to a third-person perspective, observing Yasuo under the AI's control.
On the grassland, Yasuo stood quietly.
After a moment, he moved.
At first, his movements were somewhat stiff, like a marionette.
He walked back and forth a few times, and tried swinging the longsword in his hand.
It was as if he was familiarizing himself with this body.
Only a dozen seconds later.
Yasuo's movements visibly became fluent.
From walking, to jogging, to big jumps.
Finally, he even executed a set of flowing sword moves on the grassland.
Ethereal! Agile!
As if he were a true Grandmaster of the sword path!
"Awesome!" Zhou Huai couldn't help praising inwardly.
This AI's learning ability was simply Heaven-Defying!
At this moment, those Grassland Wind Wolves seemed to sense danger, and began to emit low roars towards Yasuo, trying to warn him.
Yasuo's gaze suddenly turned sharp, locking onto them.
He moved!
His figure was like the wind, instantly dragging out an afterimage on the grassland!
Seeing this, the Grassland Wind Wolves instantly panicked.
They opened their mouths, and pale cyan wind blades whizzed and shot towards Yasuo.
However, Yasuo merely swayed his figure slightly and easily dodged all the wind blades.
His speed was too fast!
"Swish!"
Sword light flashed!
At the neck of a Grassland Wind Wolf, a line of blood spurted out!
-188!
Another sword strike!
Another wind wolf wailed and collapsed.
Yasuo under the AI's control had a combat style that was concise and efficient, with every sword strike pointing straight to vital spots.
There were not the slightest redundant movements.
Within just a few breaths, all five Grassland Wind Wolves perished completely.
Yasuo slowly sheathed his sword, his movements suave and effortless.
"This AI is even stronger than me operating it personally!" Zhou Huai exclaimed.
In the future when there were more Clones, entirely relying on AI for hosting, wouldn't he be able to just be a hands-off boss?
Just as Zhou Huai was about to continue observing AI Yasuo's subsequent actions,
a hurried and familiar voice suddenly rang in his ear, pulling him back from the immersive "spectating" into reality.
"Young Master! Young Master! Wake up quickly… Master, the Master has come to see you!"
Master?
Zhou Feng?
Zhou Huai raised an eyebrow, feeling quite astonished in his heart.
This cheap father, who only had power and interests in his mind and was indifferent to himself, would actually take the initiative to run to this shabby courtyard to see him?
The sun really rose from the west.
Zhou Huai's consciousness quickly returned to his main body.
He slowly opened his eyes, and sure enough, he saw Zhou Feng walking with his hands behind his back into the somewhat crude bedroom.
Zhou Feng's gaze swept around the room, a trace of complex and hard-to-understand emotion unconsciously leaking from his eyes.
This place was once where he and Zhou Huai's mother had lived together, bearing his long-sealed memories.
Zhou Huai straightened his body, his voice cold: "What are you here for?"
Hearing this, Zhou Feng's face sank, and he said ungraciously: "What else could I come for? Isn't it because of you brat, not letting your old man worry at all!"
He walked to the bedside and sat heavily on the chair beside it.
"Listen to me, go back this time and properly apologize to your Aunt Liu."
"Then move back to live in the Zhou Family."
Hearing this, Zhou Huai scoffed out loud, as if he had heard a colossal joke:
"Move back to live?"
"Zhou Feng, are you out of your mind?"
"I finally managed to escape from that icy home like Hell, and now you actually want me to go back voluntarily?"
Zhou Feng heavily sighed, his tone seeming to ease up a bit:
"I know, your Aunt Liu… she really hasn't been very good to you."
"However, with your current physical condition, there always needs to be someone to take care of you by your side."
"Uncle Fu is also getting old; we can't always let him work so hard."
"Making you move back is also for your own good."
"No need." Zhou Huai's tone was resolute, leaving no room for negotiation.
He looked coldly at Zhou Feng and continued:
"You should hurry back."
"If your precious wife finds out that you ran behind her back to see me, this 'trash', I'm afraid she'll give you a hard time again."
"Zhou Huai!" Zhou Feng suddenly raised his voice, anger appearing on his face, "What kind of attitude is this?! Are you even ignoring your old man's words?!"
"I told you to move back, so you obediently move back for your old man!"
"After going back, properly apologize to her! Stop saying those bastardly foolish words about cutting ties with the Zhou Family from now on!"
"Zhou Huai!" Zhou Huai also didn't show any weakness, staring fiercely at him, his voice likewise raising a few notches, "You are willing to be that turtle hiding its head, willing to cower and be subservient in front of that woman of yours, that's your own business!"
"But that so-called Zhou Family, I, Zhou Huai, will absolutely never return to!"
"From now on, the two of us had better not meet again either!"
"Rest assured, I will never become a stumbling block on your path to contending for the position of the Zhou Family head!"
"The sentiment between us father and son shall end right here!"
"Bastard! You unfilial son!"
Zhou Feng trembled all over with anger, fury seizing his heart.
He suddenly raised his palm, about to slap it across Zhou Huai's face!
Zhou Huai didn't even blink his eyes.
He just looked quietly at Zhou Feng.
In his gaze, there was no fear, only endless coldness and disappointment.
That high-raised palm stopped abruptly at a distance of less than an inch from Zhou Huai's cheek.
Zhou Feng's arm was trembling slightly.
He looked at his son's face, which bore some resemblance to his deceased wife's, yet was covered in frost.
The anger in his heart seemed to be doused over the head by a basin of ice water.
He slowly lowered his arm.
He looked at Zhou Huai with complex eyes for a long time.
Finally, it turned into a long sigh.
"Suit yourself."
Zhou Feng dropped these words, seeming to age by a few years in an instant.
He turned around and walked out of the bedroom with heavy steps.
The sound of footsteps gradually faded into the distance.
