Chapter 66: Seizing the Foundation (Part 1)

It was an indescribable ancient sword, imbued with an eerie aura that made one irresistibly immerse themselves in it. After a long while, Wang Lin gradually awoke, his eyes flickering as if he had gained some enlightenment.

Three days later, Teng Family City was bustling with activity, adorned with vibrant flowers, as numerous cultivators came and went. Zhang Hu and Wang Lin left the inn early in the morning and wandered through the city.

Zhang Hu, needing to sell his ginseng, discussed it with Wang Lin and then left alone.

Wang Lin strolled through the city, looking at one stall after another. Among them were quite a few Magic Treasures that tempted him, but unfortunately, their asking prices were too high. Wang Lin, short on funds, could only move on.

As he walked, he suddenly stopped. Before him was a cultivator's stall, on which were scattered some jade talismans, Flying Swords, and a thread-bound booklet.

On the cover of the booklet were a few small characters: "Insights into Basic Formations Research."

"Formations?" Wang Lin rubbed his chin, picked it up, and took a look. The small booklet was quite thick, about fifty or sixty pages, filled with densely written tiny characters and some diagrams.

"Ten Mid-Grade Spirit Stones. If you're not buying, don't mess with it." The stall owner, a young man around thirty, lifted his eyelids and said unhurriedly.

Ten Mid-Grade Spirit Stones was all the wealth he currently possessed. Wang Lin pondered for a moment, then flipped through it a few more times. Seeing the other party growing impatient, he took out ten Mid-Grade Spirit Stones, placed them on the ground, took the Formation booklet, and turned to leave.

After circling the various stalls again, Wang Lin saw many wood-attribute Materials, most of which were quite expensive. There was even a piece of Ironwood that was priced astronomically high.

Unconsciously, a day passed. Before nightfall, Wang Lin returned to the inn. Outside the inn, just as he was about to enter, his eyebrows suddenly twitched, and he stopped.

Usually, at this time, the inn would be very lively, but today it was silent and unusually quiet.

Wang Lin swept his Divine Sense, and his expression immediately changed slightly. The entire inn was covered by a mysterious aura, like a mist, blocking his Divine Sense.

Without a word, Wang Lin's body rapidly retreated. Gravity Spell enveloped his entire body, and like an arrow shot from a bow, he flew dozens of zhang away in an instant.

"Oh? That reaction was quite fast." A slightly surprised voice leisurely sounded. Immediately after, a person walked out of the inn. This person was twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with starry eyes and sword-like eyebrows, dressed in snow-white robes. On the cuffs of his sleeves, a black vine was embroidered.

He looked at the rapidly departing Wang Lin, sneered, and said, "Teng Jia, Teng Yi, you two wait here for Zhang Hu to return, cripple his cultivation, and send him to the prison. I'll go catch this clever brat."

As soon as he finished speaking, two illusory figures suddenly appeared out of thin air in front of him, gradually solidifying into two old men with wrinkled faces. One of them said in a deep voice, "Young Lord, these two are, after all, within our Teng Family City. Doing this would be breaking the rules set by the Old Master. If the Old Master asks…"

The white-robed youth frowned, staring in the direction Wang Lin had fled, and said, "If my Great-Grandfather asks, just tell him the truth: this Zhang Hu colluded with outsiders to murder his own benefactor, committing such a great and unfilial act. How could I let either of them off?"

After speaking, he flicked his sleeve, his body instantly ascended into the sky, and he rapidly pursued Wang Lin's escape direction.

After the two old men watched the youth leave, they transformed back into two illusory figures and vanished without a trace.

Wang Lin unleashed his full speed, fleeing at his maximum, and in a flash, reached the outskirts of Teng Family City. Just as he was about to rush out, several figures suddenly darted out from the city wall, shouting from afar, "Flying is strictly forbidden within Teng Family City, Fellow Daoist, stop!"

Without a word, Wang Lin, in this moment of crisis, didn't care about exposing his Spiritual Qi liquid. He flipped his right hand, took out a Spiritual Qi Gourd, and took a big gulp. Immediately, the Spiritual Power within him increased. He took a deep breath, his body paused for a moment, but then he instantly shot out like lightning at more than double his previous speed.

The several Teng Family Disciples blocking his way all changed their expressions, intending to stop him. Wang Lin waved his large hand, and the Gravity Spell spread around. Any Disciple blocking his path was grabbed and thrown aside.

Like a hot knife through butter, Wang Lin rushed out of Teng Family City. Behind him, due to his previous actions, over a hundred Teng Family Disciples, treading on various Magic Treasures, chased after him.

Wang Lin felt bitter in his heart. He still couldn't quite grasp what had happened in the inn. The situation just now clearly indicated that the other party was waiting for him at the inn. If he hadn't made a decisive escape, he would likely be in grave danger right now.

As for Zhang Hu, Wang Lin was currently unable to protect himself and couldn't concern himself with much else. He could only hope Zhang Hu would look out for himself.

After leaving Teng Family City, Wang Lin sped south. The numerous Teng Family Disciples behind him pursued relentlessly. Just then, a long rainbow suddenly streaked across the sky from the direction of Teng Family City, bringing with it a vast aura. In an instant, it surpassed the pursuing Teng Family Disciples and slashed at Wang Lin with a sword.

A colossal Flying Sword, almost condensed into a physical entity, materialized, carrying intense killing intent, and descended from the sky. In this instant, the world changed color, and countless purple Lightning Orbs suddenly condensed in the sky, falling with the Flying Sword.

Wang Lin's scalp tingled. Situ Nan roared, "Damn it, this is a Nascent Soul-level Magic Treasure! Wang Lin, focus your mind, I'll take you to teleport! We're going all out!"

Blue crystals instantly spread rapidly from Wang Lin's chest, covering his entire body. At this moment, the giant sword slashed down, creating booming sounds and huge cracks in the ground. Purple Lightning Orbs followed, forming a field of lightning and electric waves within a hundred zhang radius.

Wang Lin's body vanished the moment the giant sword struck. When he reappeared, he was already 300 zhang away. As soon as he appeared, Wang Lin, without a word, quickly fled forward.

Situ Nan's voice was somewhat weak, and he angrily cursed, "This little bastard is so young, yet he has cultivation at the Late Stage Foundation Establishment! If you were at the Foundation Establishment Stage, I could use your body to unleash some powerful Spells. But now, with your Qi Condensation Stage strength, no matter how much I help, I can at most take down one Middle Stage Foundation Establishment cultivator."

Teng Li frowned, but then immediately relaxed, smiling, "Below the Core Formation Stage, you are the first to escape unharmed from my Teng Li's sword. What I didn't expect was that you actually have a treasure that can teleport. This treasure is mine!"

Wang Lin didn't look back, fleeing rapidly. At this point, his Spiritual Power consumption was too great. Without a word, he took out his Gourd and took a big gulp, instantly increasing his speed by several points.

A cold light flashed in Teng Li's eyes, and his voice was gloomy as he said, "Let's see how many times you can teleport." With that, he pointed his right hand, and instantly the sky darkened as the giant sword reappeared.
