Chapter 71: Trap

Instead, Hank, who wanted to cause trouble for the Umbrella Corporation, gave the Umbrella Corporation an opportunity, allowing them to obtain a few scales.

But the problem is, what they gained was not at all proportional to what they lost!

Although the Umbrella Corporation has bases in various states.

However, the apocalypse also had a significant impact on the Umbrella Corporation.

Firstly, some supplies, once used, could not be replenished.

Vehicles like helicopters, if damaged, could not be manufactured.

Losing more than ten helicopters at once was no small loss.

And what they gained was merely a few scales.

How could this not enrage Wesker?

On the other side, the projected loli, Red Queen, quietly watched the furious Wesker, not saying a word.

After Wesker vented his anger, Red Queen finally spoke.

"After data comparison, these mutated Individuals can basically be confirmed not to be products of the t-virus. On the contrary, they bear some resemblance to those two 'Scythes'."

"Scythes" was the name the Umbrella Corporation gave to "Blades" in this world.

"You mean, those guys are related to those two big monsters?"

"We cannot rule out that possibility. The specific situation will only be known after the scales arrive."

The Umbrella Corporation was more concerned about those two suddenly appearing monsters than anyone else.

Any news related to them would be taken seriously.

At this point, the importance of those scales was elevated by several notches.

However, all of this had little to do with Hank.

He was currently stumped by a problem.

That is, how was he going to find the Umbrella Corporation's base?

In this apocalypse, it's unimaginable that those bases would be out in the open, right?

They must either be buried deep underground or located in desolate, uninhabited areas.

Trying to find them with his strength alone might be a bit difficult.

Moreover, and more importantly, he didn't have any transportation. Was he supposed to just walk along the highway to the nearest City with just his two legs?

How long would that take him? And wouldn't it exhaust him to death?

So, the most urgent task was to find a means of transportation first!

Then, Hank thought of the base he had been in before.

Due to the zombie horde outbreak, most of the valuable items in the base had already been taken away.

Vehicles, for instance, had all been driven away, not a single one left behind.

However, if he remembered correctly, when he returned to the base earlier, he seemed to have seen a bicycle.

Well, having a bicycle is better than having nothing.

Of course, it would be even better if Hank could successfully find the place where he entered the mountains, because there happened to be a motorcycle parked there, which he had driven over.

But all of this was still up in the air.

Because he hadn't even made it out of this jungle yet.

After running continuously for nearly a dozen hours, even Hank himself didn't know how far he had run, or how deep he had penetrated into this forest.

After walking for several hours, even the sun had come out, but Hank still hadn't emerged from the jungle.

Hank estimated that he should be able to get out of this jungle before the sun set.

The sun was setting in the west, gradually slanting downwards, and the beautiful evening glow painted a magnificent picture in this jungle.

But unfortunately, no one was there to appreciate this scene.

And Hank, who was in this jungle, was not in the mood to exert himself to look up.

Hank guessed wrong. Although the surrounding trees were much sparser, he still hadn't left the jungle.

So, he had to keep walking.

Several more hours passed, and the moon rose again.

Even the energetic Hank couldn't help but feel a wave of fatigue.

He had been walking for almost a day and a night, surrounded by monotonous trees, which wore down his patience to an unbearable degree.

He hadn't lost his temper yet, purely because there was no target for him to vent on.

Just as Hank was scowling, axe in hand, wanting to chop something, he caught a familiar stench of decay in the air.

This smell was very familiar to him, or rather, no one in the apocalypse could forget this smell.

It was coming from zombies!

Hank's dull Eyes gradually lit up, then the corners of his mouth slowly split into a grin, not even noticing the drool trickling from his lips.

Hank went from walking to running, sprinting in the direction the smell was coming from.

Soon, Hank saw, in the darkness of the night, those zombies standing in the woods, occasionally taking a step or two.

Hank, who had been depressed all day, charged directly into the zombie horde and began a massacre!

Any zombie standing was chopped down, and any zombie on the ground that could still move would have its head smashed by him.

In just a few minutes, hundreds of surrounding zombies were completely slaughtered by him!

If it weren't for the trees blocking the way, he could have shortened that time by two-thirds!

After venting, Hank felt refreshed.

But then again, where did these zombies come from?

Logically speaking, zombies shouldn't appear in such a remote place.

Did they wander over from somewhere?

Hank followed the traces of these zombies and began searching. Half an hour later, he saw a highway!

This made Hank pleasantly surprised, as it meant he could follow the highway to find traces of humans.

And what surprised Hank even more was that he seemed to vaguely see lights?

Hank took a few steps forward, then saw densely packed zombies on the highway, as well as two buses and several cars surrounded by zombies, and several motorcycles lying on the ground.

Hank recognized at a glance that these were the vehicles from the base he had been in before.

It seemed that after they fled the base, they encountered a zombie blockade here and all became trapped.

Hank keenly sensed that something was amiss.

If these zombies had followed the vehicles, climbed onto them, and caused all the vehicles to be trapped here, Hank wouldn't have been surprised.

However, judging by the situation, these vehicles were clearly forced to stop due to the dense zombie horde, and then overwhelmed by the swarming zombies.

With dense trees all around and the road completely occupied by zombies, these vehicles had nowhere to escape.

And looking at the situation.

After these vehicles discovered zombies ahead, they immediately braked and then started reversing.

However, their retreat was blocked by zombies that emerged from the forests on both sides.

This was the real reason they all died here.

This looked, no matter how one saw it, like a deliberately set trap.

First, attracting the zombie horde to attack the base, forcing the people inside to abandon it and flee.

But then, they encountered a trap during their escape, resulting in no survivors from the entire base, except for him, the unexpected one!

His intuition told Hank that these events were inextricably linked to the Umbrella Corporation.

Even the zombie horde itself could have been triggered by the Umbrella Corporation, and these zombies on the highway could have been deliberately placed there by people from the Umbrella Corporation!
