Chapter 78: Excavation

However, no matter how hard the Watchers searched, the passage leading into the base was nowhere to be found, as if it didn't exist.

This made the Watchers somewhat irritable.

These irritable guys simply gave up searching for the passage and instead used their tentacles to dig a path to the base.

And digging was something the Watchers were very familiar with.

The first thing they were made to do was to be put into the construction of the Underwater Temple, to dig and cut hard rocks.

Therefore, when they started digging downwards, waving their tentacles as hard as metal, Wesker, who was still watching the show deep underground, couldn't sit still.

What was going on with these Creatures?

Initially, he thought they were products of mutation from jellyfish or octopus-like aquatic Creatures, and he didn't pay too much attention.

But now, as these Creatures destroyed one Umbrella Corporation base after another, Wesker couldn't sit still.

The combat power displayed by these Creatures was extremely unreasonable.

His bio-weapons weren't that exaggerated, okay!

If it were just like this, it would be fine, but what was he seeing now?

These Creatures could actually dig passages!?

Those hard rocks were easily dug out like tofu under the tentacles of those Creatures.

Even more outrageous was that the excavated rocks were even cut into blocks of roughly the same size!?

What was this for? Building houses?

The behavior of these Creatures had exceeded Wesker's comprehension.

Moreover, since these Creatures could dig passages, and it was a very simple matter for them, it meant that the base was truly no longer safe.

Damn it!

How was their base exposed?

Are these Creatures also manipulated? Who created them?

Wesker could only awaken his boss now and let him make a decision.

Although he didn't think his boss would have any ideas.

In the end, they might really have to abandon this base.

As for the rich people hibernating in the base, truly, no one cared about their lives or deaths.

Under the highly efficient excavation of the Watchers, a circular passage, two hundred meters wide and extending downwards, was gradually dug out.

And at the edge of the passage, in order to better transport the excavated rubble, the Watchers also carved out a spiral staircase with their tentacles.

When the first Blade arrived in Raccoon City, these Watchers had already dug a passage a thousand meters deep.

At this speed, in less than three days, they would be able to dig to the location of the base.

After the Blade arrived and saw the Watchers enthusiastically digging the passage, he looked at his two sharp scythes, then let out an excited cry and ran towards the passage.

The Blade's actions caused a stir among the Watchers.

Upon seeing the Blade running towards the passage, they immediately realized his intention, and the Watchers above quickly signaled the Watchers below to quickly get out of the way.

The Blade ran to the mouth of the passage, then leaped down.

"Thud~"

A muffled sound came from the bottom of the passage, and the vibration traveled upwards, causing some rubble at the mouth of the passage to fall down.

At the very bottom of the passage, the Watchers who had urgently dodged to the edges were startled.

They were almost smashed into pulp.

The Blade, as if he had discovered a new toy, waved his two sharp scythes, cutting through the hard rock.

As the Blade rapidly waved his two scythes, the rocks beneath his feet were also rapidly shattered.

And the Watchers acted as porters, moving the rubble piece by piece to the surface.

What made them uncomfortable was that these stones were too irregular; many couldn't be reused because they were too small.

If the rocks used in the Underwater Temple where Godzilla was located were of the “boulder” specification, then the rocks sorted out from digging the passage were “bricks”, although each of these “bricks” had a diameter of two meters.

But under the Blade's rough excavation, many rocks had already shattered into “sand” and couldn't be used.

They could only try their best to “salvage” them.

Those that could be cut into “bricks” were cut into “bricks”; those that couldn't were moved to a more distant place and discarded.

Thus, with the addition of the Blade, the speed of passage excavation increased several times over.

Before another Blade arrived, they reached the location of Umbrella's true base!

Midway, they also dug up the remains of the “Hive.”

However, because the Blade's scythes were too hard, the architectural remains offered no resistance at all.

They didn't even notice anything amiss.

Only the Watchers felt that a section of the passage dug out midway had a bit too much “sand” — after digging into the Umbrella base, the Blade fell into contemplation, looking at the passage he had dug out with one swing of his scythe.

If he continued like this, he wouldn't be able to get in, right?

So the Watchers came into play.

They penetrated the base like a virus, rapidly spreading to every corner and taking away anything that matched the description of the [Master].

On the way, they were not without attacks from zombies and bio-weapons.

But for the Watchers, these were not even obstacles, at most they were like annoying flies.

After Godzilla's specific instructions, not only suspicious bottles and jars, but also suspicious plants could not be overlooked.

Godzilla, who was connected to the Blade and the Watchers throughout, watched every subordinate and paid attention to every suspicious item.

Midway, Godzilla saw the hibernating humans.

Godzilla specifically controlled a Watcher to stop and observe these hibernating people.

These humans hibernating in jars reminded Godzilla of pupating cocoons.

And what awaited them, was it breaking out of the cocoon to become a butterfly, or something else?

Unfortunately, Godzilla could not continue to observe the fate of these people.

It was unknown if this base would still exist after today.

After all, after he paid a visit, even if nothing was destroyed, the Umbrella Corporation would find it difficult to use with peace of mind.

And these people would naturally be abandoned.

As for the situation of having no one to use, this did not exist for the Umbrella Corporation.

Excellent cloning technology can sometimes be indistinguishable from the real thing.

They say who is real, then who is real; sometimes it's better to be flexible.

Godzilla did not destroy these hibernation pods, nor did he destroy the power supply facilities here.

Perhaps, in the not-too-distant future, he would still be able to see these people awaken from hibernation.

He just wondered if they would be startled then.

Or, would they be blown up by Alice, who discovers this place, before they even wake up?
