Chapter 77: Destruction

Until now, Wesker had believed that the Blade’s change of direction was due to other reasons, and not because this base had been exposed.

It should be known that the secrecy level of this base’s existence was the highest, and it was impossible for others to know about it.

Let alone a group of wild Beasts.

But was that really the case?

Although the Blade had already changed direction, due to several years having passed, the two Blades had even left this continent, and wanting to return, even at full speed, would probably take several days.

However, a certain number of Watchers, which had split off from the Blade, arrived in Raccoon City earlier.

Not only Raccoon City, but even Umbrella bases on other continents encountered sieges by Watchers.

Using their acidic blood, the sturdy metal doors seemed to not exist, as they were breached one after another by the Watchers.

The high-ranking officials of the Umbrella Corporation hiding inside the base, or rather, their clones, upon seeing how terrifying the Watchers’ blood was, immediately dispatched zombies, zombie dogs, and various biochemical weapons to deal with the Watchers.

But those products modified by the t-virus were as weak as children in front of the Watchers; basically, with one swipe, the fate of those Creatures was only one: death!

Only the more resilient Tyrants could resist for a bit longer.

But as the Watchers swiped a second and third time, they, too, fell apart one by one.

Seeing this, the high-ranking officials in the base were scared out of their wits.

In this short time, their expressions were quite varied.

When the Watchers first attacked, their expression was disdain.

They believed it was just a group of wild Beasts, utterly helpless against their sturdy doors.

But when the sturdy metal door was corroded into a large hole within seconds, their expression was shock, but not fear.

Because in their view, as long as it was a Creature, it could not contend with the zombies.

But after seeing the Watchers easily slaughter the zombies, and even the biological weapons they had created at great cost, their faces were filled with nothing but fear.

At this moment, all they could think about was escaping!

They didn’t want to stay in this broken base for another second.

But could they escape?

These high-ranking officials were somewhat intelligent and did not flee immediately.

Instead, they sent security personnel to support the biological weapons, telling these people to unfreeze more powerful biological weapons and just hold on for a little while, but in reality, they were escaping.

And those security personnel were also clones, and they had been hypnotized and brainwashed to be absolutely obedient to the Umbrella Corporation.

Therefore, they did not doubt the words of the high-ranking officials, and one by one, they stood in front of the Watchers, becoming sacrificial lambs.

When those high-ranking officials passed through the secure passage to the aircraft, and one by one boarded the aircraft, and as the aircraft took off and gradually ascended, they finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“They are just a group of unintelligent Beasts after all.”

Those high-ranking officials seemed to have forgotten their previous frantic escape, and one by one, they mocked the Watchers.

Then, they took out a controller.

As long as the button on the controller was pressed, the entire base would self-destruct, and no matter how many Watchers were inside, they would all die, turning into ashes.

Just as he was about to press the button in his hand, a cold light flashed, and the controller in his hand immediately fell onto the aircraft, along with his hand.

“Ah!!!”

Blood gushed from his wrist, and the person only belatedly screamed out.

The pain in his wrist was not fatal; what truly terrified them was how his hand was severed?

“Hiss~”

At this moment, they heard a hiss in their ears.

This sound was not emitted from a Creature’s throat, but rather sounded like the eerie music produced by twisting and folding metal when encountering a strong wind.

But why would such an unpleasant sound appear on the aircraft?

The person with the severed hand stiffly raised his head and saw a Watcher hanging above them.

How did it get in, and why didn’t they notice?

This was no longer the most important question.

The most important question was, how could they survive?

“Bang bang bang~”

In an instant, rapid gunshots erupted on the aircraft.

Then, there were screams one after another, and wails before death.

“Boom~”

The aircraft, which had risen into the air, hadn’t flown far before it began to sway erratically, as if the pilot had drunk fake alcohol.

Then, not long after, the aircraft exploded, turning into a ball of flame in the sky.

Facing the omnipresent Watchers, no one inside these Umbrella bases could escape.

Even if some quick-acting fellows managed to board the aircraft before the Watchers concealed themselves, they would still be shot down by the Watchers!

Although the Watchers’ air combat capabilities were not as exaggerated as those of the Electromagnetic Beasts and Turrets, shooting down a small aircraft was still very easy.

The Watchers that had invaded the Umbrella bases did not randomly destroy things.

They first destroyed all surveillance equipment, then swallowed all the bottles and jars into their stomachs, packing them away.

Especially the items stored in the cold storage, they left none behind, taking them all.

After achieving their objective, the Watchers retreated from the Umbrella bases like a tide.

Godzilla then allocated a portion of his attention to stuffing all the items the Watchers brought back from the Umbrella Corporation into the Monster Factory, letting it analyze whether there was anything useful in these items.

Subsequently, Godzilla did not pay much more attention to those bases but instead began to focus on the Umbrella base in Raccoon City.

The time was still short, and the Blade had not yet arrived, but the number of gathered Watchers had already exceeded one hundred.

Although the Watchers only served as patrol and alert roles for Godzilla.

However, their combat power was not as low as imagined.

One hundred of them, this number was enough to destroy a regiment’s worth of troops.

Of course, this could only be achieved if the Watchers charged into the human army’s formation.

If the distance was too great, facing various human weapons, the Watchers would only be kited to death.

But now, it was impossible for the Umbrella base to have weapons like missiles.

At most, there were various biological weapons, but would the Watchers be afraid of such things?

Thus, with the Blade not yet arrived.

The Watchers had already begun to search for a passage to the underground of Raccoon City.
