Chapter 79: We Can Sell Them Outside
Aside from purchasing some fabrics and materials for the workshop, his work for the day consisted solely of procurement for the canteen.
Materials for the workshop only needed to be replenished regularly, and procurement for the canteen was even simpler; Aunt Dong had daily menus set, and Wang Maonian would estimate the required ingredients based on the recipes, then call the pre-arranged market.
Someone would deliver them specially to the canteen when the time came, so he wasn't needed at all.
The only thing he could do was keep the purchase lists and receipts, then create reports and send them to the company's finance department.
Therefore, aside from spending some time learning office computer software, he really didn't know what else to do with his day.
At this moment, hearing that there was still a problem in the canteen that needed solving, he instantly perked up.
"It's not really a big deal; it's just that President Chen was worried the employees wouldn't be full, so he asked me to make as much of every dish as possible."
"I did make more, but there's leftovers every day."
"I thought I'd make a little less next time, but then the next time, there wasn't enough to eat."
"It's hard to control the portion size. To ensure the employees have enough to eat, I have no choice but to make more, but this way, after every meal, there's a lot of food left over. It's truly too wasteful."
Wang Maonian sighed helplessly when he reached this point.
Every time he saw so much food being wasted like that, his heart ached.
That was food!
Listening to Wang Maonian's words, Li Shen rubbed his chin in thought.
Waste is shameful; it certainly shouldn't be wasted.
But if he didn't make extra, he couldn't guarantee that there would be enough food for every meal.
The employees' meals had to be guaranteed, so making extra was a must.
Then, only one problem remained: how to reasonably dispose of the leftover food so it wouldn't seem like such a waste.
After pondering for a long while, Li Shen looked at Wang Maonian with a joyful expression.
"I've got it! We can take those leftovers and sell them outside."
"Sell? How do we sell them?" Wang Maonian looked at Li Shen in confusion.
"Look, every noon and evening, food trucks come to the entrance of the Industrial Park to sell fast food. We can also pack the leftovers into individual portions and take them out to sell."
"I used to eat those portioned meals quite often. Two meat dishes and one vegetable dish cost 13 yuan, and the boxes were divided into compartments; the amount of food in each compartment actually wasn't much."
"But we don't need to go to that much trouble. We just need to buy a batch of disposable lunch boxes. Each box will contain two dishes, plus a box of rice, for fifteen yuan."
"Wouldn't fifteen yuan be too expensive? Didn't you just say that theirs cost only 13 yuan for two meat dishes and one vegetable dish? If you charge 15 yuan for just two dishes, will anyone buy it?" Wang Maonian asked with some concern.
Hearing Wang Maonian's worried words, Li Shen shook his head.
"It's not expensive at all. First, there's the culinary skill. Uncle Wang, your skills are all master-chef level; the food you make is far better than those fast-food places outside."
"Also, our canteen has six dishes per meal, and almost every dish has meat, so one lunch box will actually contain two meat dishes. Then there's the portion size. Don't let their three dishes fool you; each dish is just in a small compartment. Added together, it's not as much as the amount in one of our lunch boxes. Plus, we have a whole box of white rice."
"All things considered, it's definitely worth fifteen yuan. Besides, we're just getting rid of the leftovers, so I estimate there won't be that many portions. No need to worry about not selling them all."
"And even if we don't sell them all, there's no loss; they were leftovers to begin with."
"Most importantly, our workshop gets off work earlier than the other workshops. By the time our employees finish eating, employees from other factories probably haven't even clocked out yet."
"We have plenty of time to pack the leftovers into the lunch boxes."
"Then should we give it a try?" Wang Maonian said with some hesitation. He had never done anything like this before and didn't know if this method would be feasible.
However, just as Li Shen said, it was all leftovers anyway; even if no one bought them, there would be no loss.
"Of course we have to try it! I'm going out right now to buy disposable lunch boxes. We'll test the waters at dinner and see how the response is."
Li Shen slapped the table, stood up in a rush, and headed out of the canteen.
…
"This is it. Let's go in."
Wu Yu glanced at the office building, checked the navigation on his phone, and said to the two colleagues beside him.
The three of them, each carrying a gift box, walked into the office building.
They entered the elevator and finally stopped in front of a company door: Cangxue Games.
"So this is President Chen's other company."
Wu Yu looked inside the company with curiosity, then led the two people beside him inside.
"Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
The receptionist at the door looked at the three people entering and asked.
"We are sales representatives from Changfeng Garment Factory, and we're looking for your Director Wei."
Wu Yu heard the receptionist's question and replied.
"Oh, from Changfeng Garment Factory? Please wait a moment; I'll call the Director's office."
Upon hearing it was Changfeng Garment Factory, the receptionist didn't dare to be negligent. After all, Changfeng Garment Factory was also President Chen's company, and it was his first company at that. Furthermore, Director Wei had been transferred over from Changfeng Garment Factory.
Who knew if these people in front of her were also leaders transferred from Changfeng Garment Factory?
Thinking this, she quickly dialed the number for the Director's office.
After a while, the receptionist looked at Wu Yu and the others with an apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, Director Wei doesn't seem to be in his office right now. Please wait a moment while I go inside and look for him."
"Alright, we're not in a rush."
Wu Yu replied with a smile.
Upon hearing this, the receptionist walked quickly into the interior of the company and headed straight for the employee workspace.
Sure enough, upon entering the employee workspace, she saw Director Wei sitting next to an employee, holding a notebook and recording something.
Seeing this, she walked over and said in a low voice.
"Director Wei, there are some sales representatives from Changfeng Garment Factory here to see you."
Wei Yan heard this—sales representatives from Changfeng Garment Factory, meaning Wu Yu.
Could it be that they encountered a problem with the business? But a phone call would have sufficed; there was no need to come find him.
Thinking this, he stood up and walked outside with the receptionist.
"Hello, Director Wei!"
Wu Yu greeted him hurriedly when he saw Wei Yan walk out of the company.
Wei Yan glanced at Wu Yu, then at the gift box in Wu Yu's hand, and understood immediately.
"Follow me."
After they entered the Director's office.
Wu Yu hurriedly handed over the gift box in his hand.
"Master, I didn't know what to buy, so I just got a few boxes of tea. You can give them a try."
As he spoke, he signaled to the two colleagues behind him.
Seeing this, the other two colleagues also hurriedly handed over the gift boxes they were holding.
Wei Yan took the gift boxes and placed them on his desk, then teased Wu Yu.
"Not bad. You've been doing sales for a while, and you've learned these tricks pretty quickly."
"It's thanks to your teaching, Master."
Wu Yu chuckled.
"Don't say that. I didn't teach you for more than a few days; I can't accept the title of Master."
"Tell me, what do you need me for?"
Wei Yan waved his hand, sat down in his chair, and looked at Wu Yu.
