Chapter 81: Setting Up a Stall at the Entrance, Taking Turns Signing Orders
Arriving at the entrance of the Industrial Park, Li Shen pushed his cart of boxed meals.
Instead of going outside, he stopped just inside the entrance to wait for the employees to get off work and buy food; his stall was the first thing they would pass.
Of course, being able to do this inside the Industrial Park required him to spend a little money; he had bought a carton of cigarettes for the old security guard.
He also had to promise to only set up for a few days before he was allowed to sell boxed meals inside.
He stuck an A4 sheet of paper with the price written on it to the front of the cardboard box.
"Kid, what kind of food is this that you're selling for 15 yuan a portion?"
Before the employees could come off work, the old security guard walked over first.
Seeing that it was the old security guard, Li Shen hurriedly took a box of rice and a box of dishes from the cardboard box and handed them over.
"Grandpa, this is the food from our canteen. You can have a taste."
"Too expensive, I won't eat it."
The old security guard quickly waved his hand, not taking the boxed meals.
"Grandpa, look at what you're saying. If you come to me, how could I possibly charge you?"
"Feel free to eat. Later, when the employees come over, help me advertise a bit."
Li Shen didn't wait for the old security guard to refuse; he stuffed the boxed meals directly into the old man's hands.
The old security guard looked at the boxed meals in his hands and laughed happily.
"Alright, I know quite a few of those brats, so I'll help you promote it."
The old security guard said this while opening the lunch box.
When he saw the dishes inside, he was stunned for a moment.
There were two dishes in one lunch box.
One was braised pork, and the other was soy-sauce chicken chunks.
Not to mention the fragrant aroma, the portion size alone was enough to surprise him.
The braised pork clearly used high-quality pork belly, a perfect mix of fat and lean, and the portion was generous—there had to be at least ten pieces.
In the boxed meals sold outside, there was also braised pork, but it was considered good if there were four or five pieces, and they were mostly fat, and not as big as these.
The other half, the soy-sauce chicken chunks, was the same—the portion was huge.
Just for this box of food, charging 15 yuan wasn't expensive at all!
He picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of braised pork, and tasted it. The flavor was even better than what was stir-fried in those restaurants.
The old security guard's appetite opened up. He hurriedly placed the box of food on a stone step nearby, sat down, opened the box of rice, and began to eat.
Not long after, a chaotic sound came from afar. Looking into the distance, he saw heads bobbing as people swarmed toward them; clearly, the factory had finished its shift.
Soon, the crowd reached them. Most people took one look and walked right past.
However, soon one person came over and asked curiously.
"Brother, what's on the menu?"
Just as Li Shen was about to answer, a voice spoke up before him.
"braised pork and soy-sauce chicken chunks. Look at the size of the meat and the amount of food; it's much more than outside, and it tastes delicious too. It's definitely worth the 15 yuan."
"Buy it. Would I, an old man, lie to you?"
The old security guard said this while showing the food in his lunch box to the employee who had asked.
Seeing that it was the old security guard speaking, the employee didn't hesitate any longer.
"Alright, give me one portion."
Li Shen smiled upon hearing this, but instead of immediately grabbing a lunch box, he spoke up.
"We have a total of six dishes for these boxed meals: braised pork, soy-sauce chicken chunks, deep-fried pork tenderloin, braised meatballs, stir-fried pork slices, and shredded pork with sweet bean sauce. There are two dishes per box, and they are packed randomly, so you never know which dishes you'll get."
"Fine, just give me one. I'm tired of the stuff outside; I want to try something new."
The employee didn't dawdle and slapped the money into Li Shen's hand.
Seeing this, Li Shen readily handed over a box of rice and a box of food.
The employee took the meal and sat right next to the old security guard to start eating.
His dishes were stir-fried pork slices and deep-fried pork tenderloin; judging by the way he was wolfing it down, the food clearly suited his taste perfectly.
More and more people got off work, and with the old security guard helping to drum up business on the side, in less than twenty minutes, the 32 boxes of food and 38 boxes of rice were all sold out.
And right there on the stone steps next to Li Shen, a row of people was already sitting and eating their boxed meals.
Li Shen tidied up the cardboard box briefly, then pushed his cart back to the company canteen.
Out of the 32 portions, excluding the one given to the old security guard, a total of 31 were sold, plus the 6 extra boxes of rice which were sold for one yuan each.
The total income was 471 yuan.
This was just for one meal; if I count lunch, I can sell about 900 yuan worth a day.
As for breakfast, forget it. Breakfast is simple—just fried dough sticks, soy milk, steamed buns, and pancakes. There aren't many leftovers for these, and they are too varied to sell easily.
But nine hundred a day is not bad. In the future, canteen procurement will save at least over twenty thousand yuan a month.
Li Shen thought to himself, finally feeling a bit more at ease.
President Chen had transferred him to procurement and logistics, and for so long, he had been idle. How could he live up to President Chen's trust?
Although these twenty thousand or so didn't amount to much for President Chen.
But this was just a small step for him; he still wanted to do more for President Chen and for the company.
…
Time passed, and in a flash, half a month went by.
In the Garment factory office, Chen Mo looked at the performance report in front of him and rubbed his head, feeling a headache.
Another 200,000 yuan order—will this ever end!
Over the past half month, for some unknown reason, those three newcomers from the Business Department had been taking turns signing orders.
The orders weren't big, almost all small ones around 100,000 yuan.
The largest was Wu Yu's 300,000 yuan order. Hmm! Today, another 200,000 yuan order was signed.
Although the orders weren't big, there were just so many of them.
Wu Yu alone had accumulated over 700,000 yuan in orders from various small deals.
The other two were a bit behind, but added together, they also had over 600,000 yuan in orders.
Calculating it this way, there were over 1.3 million yuan in orders in total.
But these three people were clearly just inexperienced newcomers; how could they start taking orders so quickly?
One order, two orders, one could say it was luck. But these orders couldn't be attributed to luck.
The more Chen Mo thought about it, the more he felt something was wrong, and he felt a chill down his spine.
Could it be that that sneaky guy is playing tricks again?
Thinking this, he looked up and called out to Shen Rou.
"Shen Rou, go check if Wu Yu and the others are in the Business Department. If they are, have them come to the office."
"Alright, President Chen."
Shen Rou stood up and walked out of the office. Not long after, Wu Yu brought the two newcomers from the Business Department in.
"President Chen, did you ask for me?"
Wu Yu looked at President Chen in the office and asked nervously.
This was his first time being called in for a talk by President Chen.
Chen Mo glanced at the three of them and greeted them with a smile.
"No need to be nervous, sit."
"I noticed you've been taking quite a few orders lately. Have you found some special way to do it?"
