Chapter 884: Wreaking Havoc in Wayne Tower (Part 2)
Meanwhile, on the top floor of Wayne Tower.
Inside a private office covering hundreds of square meters.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was the chaotic night view of Gotham City.
Inside the office, however, soothing classical music was playing.
The de facto ruler of Gotham City and mayor, Bruce Wayne, was leaning against a leather sofa.
He was swirling red wine in his hand, a confident smile on his face.
Sitting opposite him was a burly, bald Black man.
This person was none other than Edman.
The two of them sipped red wine while discussing the current situation of the Free Federation.
"The Free Federation right now can be said to be in complete chaos."
Bruce Wayne took a sip of red wine: "Once that high and mighty old Holy Lord died, the entire federation seemed to lose its backbone.
Look at the idiots down below fighting tooth and nail to seize territory, it is truly laughable."
Edman leaned back on the sofa and sneered: "A little chaos is good.
Without chaos, how would we have the opportunity to rise to power?"
"Well said!"
Wayne laughed heartily: "Our cooperation is simply like adding wings to a tiger!
Taking advantage of the fact that the Holy Knights Order and that bunch of hypocrites from the Holy See are fighting each other and too busy to care about us, we can use Gotham City as our main base and aggressively expand outward."
He raised his glass: "It won't be long before the future of this Free Federation belongs to the two of us!"
However, speaking of this, Wayne furrowed his brow slightly.
"However, we cannot lower our guard either."
Wayne put down his wine glass, his tone turning somewhat heavier: "Andrew, that cardinal from the Holy See, and James from the Knights Order, these two old fellows are deeply rooted factions with real power and possess elite forces with extremely deep foundations.
They are not easy to deal with."
Hearing these two names, Edman showed a look of disdain.
He snorted coldly, his fingers tapping on the table: "Them?
They are just two old fellows with one foot in the grave."
Arrogance showed in Edman's eyes: "We are all SS-Rank Professionals alike.
If the day really comes when we break all pretense, in a one-on-one situation, they might not necessarily be a match for me, Edman!"
"Hahaha!
Good!
With those words from you, I can rest assured!"
Hearing this, Wayne smiled, stood up, and raised his goblet in a distant toast to Edman.
"Your Excellency Edman, then I congratulate you in advance!"
Wayne's tone carried expectation: "I look forward to the day you reach the pinnacle of the Holy City and control the highest power of the federation!"
Edman responded with a smile, raising his glass to clink with Wayne's.
"To our bright future."
"Clink—"
The sound of colliding glass echoed inside the office.
Just as the two of them were full of ambition.
"Woo—! Woo—! Woo—!"
A burst of alarm sounds suddenly came up from the bottom of the building, interrupting the indoor atmosphere.
Red warning lights flashed in the corridor, appearing exceptionally glaring.
Edman's hand holding the wine glass paused slightly.
He glanced at the flashing red light outside the door, then smiled and looked at Bruce Wayne teasingly: "It seems, Mayor Wayne, that you have encountered some trouble."
He put down his wine glass and twisted his neck.
"What?
Do you want me to go down and effortlessly solve it for you?" Edman asked casually.
Bruce Wayne waved his hand dismissively.
He sat back down on the sofa, his posture still composed.
"Common occurrence."
Wayne picked up his wine glass and took a light sip, smiling: "You know, ever since I became the mayor of this Gotham, countless people have wanted my life every day.
Assassins, bounty hunters, dead soldiers of rival Gangs, I've seen it all."
He smiled at Edman: "Rest assured, the people I raise down below are no pushovers.
They will handle it."
Wayne raised his wrist and looked at his mechanical watch.
"About five minutes will be enough."
He lowered his hand and raised his glass to Edman: "I hope these blind mice won't affect your mood, Edman."
Edman shrugged indifferently.
"As long as it doesn't disturb my drinking."
He smiled, picked up his wine glass, and continued drinking.
However, one minute passed.
Two minutes passed.
Three minutes passed.
The alarm sound did not subside for a long time, becoming even louder instead.
Even the floor of the office could faintly feel the vibration coming from below.
The composure on Bruce Wayne's face began to disappear.
His complexion gradually turned ugly.
He could tell that the current level of the alarm System had clearly reached the highest level.
"Woo—! Woo—! Woo—!"
The piercing alarm sound echoed in the top floor office of Wayne Tower.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the night view of Gotham City was still chaotic, and the soothing classical music inside the office had been completely drowned out by this commotion.
Time ticked away second by second.
Four minutes.
Five minutes.
Six minutes.
The composure on Bruce Wayne's face gradually vanished, and his facial muscles twitched slightly.
He stared at the mechanical watch on his wrist.
Too long.
The guards below were all Advanced Professionals he had dug up at great expense from mercenary groups and the black market.
There were more than twenty elites above level 60, and the captain of the guard was even a level 68 Berserker, holding a top-grade Demonic Energy broadsword in his hand.
With this kind of security force, even if a hundred-man squad of the Holy Knights Order launched a forcible attack, they could still hold them off for half an hour.
But now, the commotion below not only hadn't subsided, but the vibration sound had become even more intense.
Even the floor of this office, which was laid with a shock-absorbing magic array, was trembling slightly.
"Bang!"
Bruce Wayne could not suppress his irritation and smashed the goblet onto the coffee table.
Wine splashed everywhere, staining the carpet red.
"A bunch of trash!"
Wayne cursed, his face turning livid.
In front of Edman, an SS-Rank Expert, his subordinates performing so incompetently made him extremely embarrassed.
Edman, sitting opposite, looked at Wayne, a trace of mockery curving the corner of his mouth.
He steadily held his wine glass, listening to the dull roar coming from beneath his feet.
As an SS-Rank Expert, he could sense that extremely strong energy fluctuations were erupting in the first-floor lobby.
That was definitely not something those people in their sixties under Wayne could emit.
However, Edman didn't care.
In the Free Federation, apart from those few old monsters, he didn't think anyone could threaten him.
Edman drank the red wine in one gulp and smiled as he stood up.
"It looks like, Mayor Wayne, your subordinates cannot handle those enemies."
Edman's burly body exuded a sense of oppression, looking down at Wayne from above.
"Let me go down myself and solve these troubles for you."
He twisted his neck, his bones cracking.
"Consider it a small gift delivered in advance for our upcoming cooperation."
Hearing this, Bruce Wayne showed a look of embarrassment.
He had previously sworn that it could be solved in five minutes, but now he had to trouble an ally to take action.
But he knew clearly in his heart that anyone capable of forcing the elite guard team to this extent had strength that should not be underestimated.
Bruce Wayne stood up and squeezed out a smile.
"Then I will trouble Mr. Edman."
Wayne tidied his suit and reminded him: "However, Mr. Edman, please be slightly careful."
"Judging by the defense strength on the first floor of the building, for the opponent to cause such a big commotion in such a short time, their strength should be very strong.
Perhaps they are top-tier assassins sent by the Holy See or the Holy Knights Order."
"Very strong?"
Hearing this, Edman smiled arrogantly and reached out to pat Wayne's shoulder.
The aura of an SS-Rank Expert was released, making the air hum slightly.
"No need to worry, Mayor Wayne."
Edman's eyes were arrogant, "In the entire Free Federation, apart from those few old bones hiding in the Holy City who dare not come out, there are not many people left who can be my match."
"No matter what monsters and demons come from below, in front of my power, they can only turn into a puddle of mud."
