Chapter 889: Is That It?
Edman clenched his teeth fiercely, directly detonating more than half of his magic Origin inside his body.
"Boom!"
A muffled sound rang out, and Edman released a thick cloud of black smoke.
The black smoke had an extremely strong mental shielding effect, instantly obscuring Yasuo's perception.
Immediately afterward, Edman turned around and transformed into a puddle of grey-brown mud, fleeing toward the eastern gate of the building at a speed that broke the sound barrier.
As long as he escaped into the complex sewer System of Gotham City, he would have a chance to survive.
The puddle of mud instantly rushed out of the dilapidated eastern gate.
Edman was ecstatic in his heart, feeling the air outside.
As a result, just as the mud darted out of the eastern gate, the surrounding space distorted without warning.
"Whoosh!"
That puddle of mud was forcibly dragged by a High-Dimensional Law, and at the same time, it actually darted back out from the northern gate of the building!
"Bang!"
The mud heavily smashed onto the ruins of the lobby, re-condensing into Edman's battered Physical Body.
He lay on the ground, looking at the familiar scenery around him and the blonde youth not far away, his face full of dullness.
What was going on?
He had clearly escaped, so how did he come back from the northern gate?!
On the sofa, Zhou Huai put down the goblet, making a crisp sound.
The entire Wayne Tower had long been completely sealed off by him using the Law of Space, forming a head-to-tail connected Möbius strip.
Naturally, he would not let anyone leave.
"Let's take your head to celebrate Yasuo's Awakening of his Domain."
Zhou Huai's calm voice echoed in the lobby, and Edman and Bruce Wayne beside him felt their whole bodies turn cold.
The next second.
"Sizzle—"
Golden thunder tore through the Void Realm, and Yasuo instantly appeared in front of Edman.
"No!!!"
Edman let out a despairing roar, his eyes bloodshot from fear.
Under the threat of death, he squeezed out the last trace of his life Origin and frantically mobilized his swamp Domain.
"Absolute Swamp Barrier!"
Rumble!
Countless grey-brown mud gushed out from the ground, instantly condensing into dozens of hard mud walls several meters thick.
The mud walls, reinforced by the High-Dimensional Law, were sufficient to withstand Forbidden Spell bombardments and were his last trump card.
But in front of the sword strike where Yasuo condensed his ultimate Domain, all of this was nominal.
"Clang!"
The sound of the sword was crisp.
Yasuo held the sword with both hands, his eyes calm, without extra movements, just simply waving it forward.
A thin line of gold sword energy, as thin as a gossamer thread but containing the will to sever all things, drifted lightly across the Void Realm.
There was no explosion, no roar.
The dozens of swamp barriers, claimed to be absolute defenses, were split into two without any obstruction the moment they contacted the sword line.
The sword line did not diminish in momentum as it swept past Edman's neck.
Edman's movements instantly stiffened, the light in his eyes rapidly scattering.
A fine line of blood slowly appeared at his neck.
Immediately after, fresh blood shot up into the sky.
A huge head slid down from his neck, rolling into the ruins.
"Thud."
Edman's huge head smashed onto the dilapidated marble floor, making a muffled sound.
His eyes stared fixedly, his eyeballs nearly protruding, dying with an unfulfilled grievance.
Until death descended, this overbearing SS-Rank Expert in the Free Federation still couldn't figure out why his proud swamp barrier couldn't block the opponent's light sword strike.
At the severed neck, mud should have gushed out to heal.
But that tyrannical Sword Intent had completely shredded the foundation of his Law.
The grey-brown mud only wriggled a few times before losing its vitality, turning into a foul-smelling bloody water that surged out wildly, staining a large area of ruins red.
As Edman's vitality was cut off, the swamp Domain in the lobby also lost its support.
The churning mud and poisonous fog quickly dissipated within a few seconds, turning into a ground of slush and emitting a pungent scorched smell.
"Clang—"
A crisp sword hum.
Yasuo flicked his wrist slightly, and the long sword accurately returned to its scabbard.
His black trench coat fluttered in the remaining shockwaves, and not a single drop of blood or speck of mud stained his body.
Without looking at the corpse on the ground anymore, he turned into a glimmer of light and re-merged into Zhou Huai's body.
At this moment, Bruce Wayne, sitting on the other side of the sofa, had a pale face.
Following Edman's fall, his proud composure and dignity as the mayor of Gotham City were completely shattered.
That legendary expert of the Free Federation actually died just like that?
This was simply like a dream.
Wayne trembled uncontrollably, his custom-made expensive suit soaked through with cold sweat, sticking tightly to his back.
He stared blankly at the head on the ground, his brain blank.
It was over.
It was all completely over.
In order to control Gotham City and to dabble in the supreme power of the Free Federation, he had planned for so many years.
He spent heavy money to poach more than twenty elites above Rank 60 to build a guard team.
He even went so far as to sell out interests and ally with a demon like Edman.
These were all his trump cards for running amok.
But now, these trump cards were torn to pieces like they were made of paper in front of the youth before him.
Even Edman was killed in one strike by a sword, and he, a mayor piled up by resources, was not even as good as an ant in front of the opponent.
Escape?
The space of the building had been sealed off by the opponent, turning into a dead loop. Where could he escape?
Resist?
Take his pitiful Rank and equipment?
He closed his eyes as if resigning to his fate, waiting for judgment.
Die.
Everything was over.
He only hoped that the opponent's sword could be faster, just like when slaying Edman, so he wouldn't suffer too much.
The lobby was so quiet that it was suffocating.
"Ting."
Zhou Huai placed the goblet on the dilapidated coffee table, glass and marble colliding to produce a crisp sound.
This sound appeared particularly abrupt in the dead silence, startling Wayne into a sudden shiver.
However, the anticipated sword light did not fall.
Zhou Huai looked at him and suddenly smiled.
There was no killing intent in the laughter, only undisguised mockery.
"Mr. Wayne, what are you doing?"
Zhou Huai's voice was very calm, carrying a hint of banter.
Wayne opened his eyes suddenly, his eyes full of confusion and despair.
He looked at Zhou Huai, his throat rolling as he spoke in a hoarse voice.
"Your Excellency, aren't you going to kill me?"
"Since my skills are inferior and I provoked an existence I shouldn't have, I accept falling to this state."
"Then do it, give me a quick end."
Wayne gritted his teeth, forcing out his last bit of dignity as he stared fixedly at Zhou Huai.
Zhou Huai shook his head, the corners of his mouth curling into a playful arc.
"Who said I came to kill you."
Wayne was stunned.
He stared blankly at Zhou Huai, his brain failing to turn around for a moment, even suspecting that he had heard wrong.
"No… not killing me?"
Zhou Huai leaned against the back of the sofa, his fingers gently tapping the armrest, his tone relaxed.
"I just want to borrow something from Mr. Wayne."
"Borrow something?"
Wayne was surprised.
He widened his eyes with a face full of disbelief.
A big shot of this level could casually crush an SS-Rank Expert, what could he possibly want that he didn't have?
With just a word, countless people throughout the Free Federation would probably queue up to offer it.
He ran to Wayne Tower, slaughtered through all the elite guards, and even casually butchered Edman along the way, only to borrow something in the end?
"What does Your Excellency want to borrow?"
Wayne carefully swallowed a mouthful of saliva, his voice trembling, afraid that the opponent would put forward some fatal request.
But he had already made up his mind in his heart; as long as they didn't want his life, even if they wanted all the property of the Wayne Family or asked him to hand over the mayor's position, he would never frown even a bit.
Zhou Huai looked at him and spoke faintly.
"I heard, Mr. Wayne, that you have a private airship in your hands. Could you lend it to me?"
As the words fell.
The lobby fell into dead silence once again.
The cold wind blew in from the broken floor-to-ceiling windows, whipping up the debris on the ground.
The corners of Wayne's eyes twitched continuously, the whole person dumbfounded, his expression extremely colorful.
"Is that it?"
