Charging Bank and ‘Dragonborn’
"Fury, you’re bothering me with something like this too? Are you kidding? Don’t you know I’m busy?"
Sitting in the London Sanctum, Noah looked displeasedly at the bearded, eyepatched, bald man on his phone screen.
This man was Fury. By now, he had basically become the same as the man Noah remembered, except he couldn’t put on any airs in front of Noah.
Without anyone noticing, time had reached a critical juncture. Over the next few years, this world would probably no longer be as peaceful as before.
A year ago, after Noah had completely finished developing this new Transformation Magic, he had run into some trouble.
That was how to remove the will contained within high-dimensional dark power. Honestly, Noah didn’t know a damn thing about that.
But Noah had the system. With no other choice, he could only hand the solution provided by the system to The Ancient One, and that finally got him through it.
It was rather interesting, really, because the method provided by the system was not particularly difficult.
Simply put, it involved using the soul magic Noah and the others had already mastered, then applying special techniques to completely strip away those wills.
Noah himself was utterly baffled when he heard about this method, but he had no choice but to pretend that he had known it all along.
Fortunately, after hearing part of Noah’s explanation, The Ancient One immediately understood. After pondering it for a while, her eyes grew brighter and brighter.
This method truly was not difficult. Its difficulty lay in the fact that very few people would think of approaching it this way.
Although The Ancient One was a top-tier mage, that did not mean she was omniscient and omnipotent.
After Noah’s explanation, she immediately realized that she really could do this!
Having received the answer, The Ancient One was extremely pleased. Of course, she also blamed Noah for not telling her about this method sooner.
Noah was quite helpless about that. He couldn’t exactly tell her that he had known nothing before and that the system had done everything for him, could he?
"Master, I was still experimenting with it myself before. It had some effect, but this wasn’t my main work. My main focus was still on this new Transformation Magic."
"Is that so?"
The Ancient One silently nodded after hearing Noah’s words. She had always watched what Noah had been doing over the years.
What she had not expected was that this kid had quietly helped her settle another major problem!
Noah neither denied nor took pride in The Ancient One’s praise. He and the system were one, but this matter really had nothing to do with Noah himself.
Naturally, revealing this matter also brought Noah quite a few benefits. That was, Noah now had the chance to obtain more high-dimensional dark power!
"Although my other body is connected to my current body, that body’s level is far ahead of this one. Besides, it was formed using dark power. If I continue using this kind of power, that body should develop even better."
The Ancient One did not reject Noah’s request. After all, Noah truly had a way to remove the wills within that power.
However, The Ancient One made it clear that she had to try removing those powers herself before handing them over to Noah.
Noah’s strength was about the same as hers had been back then. How much effort had she needed to overcome the influence of those wills?
Although Noah’s method was indeed an extremely successful one, Noah was not strong enough to handle those powers. Therefore, The Ancient One intended to do it herself.
On one hand, it would let her practice. On the other, it would allow her to test the results.
If she could completely resolve the issue with those powers, then perhaps this kind of power could be put to wider use!
Dormammu was terrifying, but after crossing so many dimensions to come cause trouble, as long as she was around, nothing would go wrong.
And with the help of this "clean" power, they could surely forge even more powerful mages!
By then, if Dormammu wanted to come cause trouble while she was away, he might well be dumbfounded.
Noah was not particularly aware of The Ancient One’s idea of treating Dormammu like a "charging bank."
But even if Noah had known, he would definitely have supported it with both hands.
Noah did not know about other worlds, but according to what he had learned from the system and The Ancient One, this kind of power was everywhere in the Dark Dimension of this world. There was as much of it as one could want.
Rather than wasting it there and polluting the environment, it was better to use it for something meaningful.
Besides that matter, Noah brought up another topic: the assessment plan for Archmages and mages.
The Ancient One had always been very interested in Noah’s suggestions, but this time, she did not carefully listen to his explanation.
Instead, she asked Noah to write up a proposal for her. Noah naturally had no reason to refuse.
After resolving this series of problems, Noah’s life returned to peace. He truly had not been so idle in a long time.
From the start of the millennium, when he came up with the idea and began researching it, to his eventual success, seven years had passed.
He could not say those seven years had been terrible, but they were definitely some very difficult years for him.
After completely resolving the matter, Noah was astonished to discover that aside from his daily duty of guarding the Sanctum, he had a great deal of free time.
So Noah decisively chose to indulge himself. After finishing work, he would drag along Ms. Heifen, Wong, or Dennis, then bring Jason, who was familiar with places all over the world, and travel everywhere.
It had to be said that Kamar-Taj’s magic was simply too convenient. The few of them could go wherever they wanted, with the only concern being whether the timing was appropriate.
As for passports and such, even if Noah did not step in, Jason could help them handle it. And if Jason could not manage it, Noah could always ask Fury, couldn’t he?
Speaking of which, it was rather amusing. Because Fury did not have a Gringotts account, he had been unable to log onto WeChat.
In the end, he had no choice but to ask Noah for help. Only then did he finally get a more complete look at the hidden magical world beneath the surface of the world and how these people lived.
It would have been better if he had not looked. Once he did, Fury felt his scalp go numb.
For example, a mage somewhere in the United States would post a message. Since Fury himself was in the United States, he could naturally find it immediately, and then he saw that this mage had discovered a mammoth calf.
Or mages elsewhere might have killed werewolves, vampires, or similar creatures.
Even more terrifyingly, he noticed the paper Noah had published regarding Animagus evolution, as well as that pile of dragon corpses. This made Fury even more afraid to speak of any of it.
Who knew which idiot might decide that these mages were threatening Earth, when in truth they were threatening that person’s interests, and then trigger an unprecedented conflict?
Just thinking about such a possibility made Fury tremble all over.
Not to mention that if it really happened, this world would probably become a genuine magical world.
Fury spent every day staring at his computer or phone, reading information about mages around the world, but Noah had no interest in dealing with him.
Fury could not speak of it, nor could he expose any of it, so Noah had nothing to worry about. However, Noah’s "indulgent days" drew The Ancient One’s displeasure.
"So, you went to Asgard and got this thing?" One day, while Noah was normally receiving The Ancient One during her inspection of the Sanctum, he stared dumbfoundedly at the book in his hands.
"Yes, Noah. The road of magic is long. Although you are a genius unlike any I have ever seen, you cannot let yourself slack off too much. Besides, didn’t you say that the methods of training the body I had were no longer effective for you? Giving this to you fulfills your wish, does it not?"
The Ancient One spoke gently, though her words also carried a lesson for Noah.
Noah looked gloomily at the book in his hands, but he honestly admitted his mistake to The Ancient One and promised to turn over a new leaf.
Truthfully, after that transformation, Noah’s physical abilities had reached a terrifying level.
Although he could not display them in human form, he had still gained benefits from it.
What he needed to do now was fill himself with magical power. Only when he could activate the physical strength of a Tier 9 body while in human form would he truly succeed.
Moreover, because Noah had unexpectedly taken such a huge leap, the system had done more than set the time ratio to nine times in order to keep Noah from screwing himself over. It had also added a new feature to the System Space.
This new feature was combat simulation. In plain terms, it functioned like the Room of Requirement by summoning opponents.
These summoned opponents were created through the system’s analysis and simulation, so their strength was absolutely guaranteed, and these guys would not show any mercy!
The only advantage was probably that no matter how Noah messed around in the System Space, he would not accidentally get himself killed.
After gaining all these benefits, Noah naturally wanted to slack off a little.
But now Noah felt it was better to forget it. Just as The Ancient One had said, the road of magic was long.
Although Noah always felt that he had somehow been led astray and was constantly developing in the direction of a melee mage, he could not be bothered to think about it too much.
"By the way, Dumbledore has already submitted the paper on your new Transformation Magic to me. You should at least give this magic a name, shouldn’t you?"
Seeing that Noah was doing much better, The Ancient One stopped dwelling on the previous subject.
"A new name?" Noah felt that he was terrible at naming things, but he could not avoid it. After thinking it over, Noah asked tentatively, "How about Dragonborn?"
"…"
The Ancient One shook her head. She felt that she had asked an unnecessary question, then spoke again. "By the way, since you are already Tier 7, you should also take the Archmage exam. You have not even taken the mage exam."
"Don’t worry, it’s next September, right? I’ll take it." Noah nodded seriously.
The mage and Archmage exams were, in fact, certification exams for mid-tier and high-tier mages. Their purpose was to assess a mage’s knowledge and professional ability.
Of course, there was one more important assessment: the mage’s will.
Only after combining the results of these three exams with one’s current magical power would such a title be granted.
It could be said that this thing was like a diploma. Having one and not having one made a huge difference.
Two mages might both be Tier 6, but if one did not have the mage title while the other did, many places would prioritize the one who had it when hiring and the like.
So, in order to pass the exam he had created himself, Noah had put a great deal of effort into studying.
Then Fury called him at this moment, so naturally Noah was not in a good mood.
"Sorry, Noah. I didn’t want to disturb you either." Fury looked somewhat embarrassed. "But this is driving all of us crazy right now. And didn’t you want to get the Artificial Intelligence AI System from him? Isn’t this a good opportunity?"
"You’re really annoying. I need to study for the exam, okay?" Noah was still reluctant.
"Good Lord, Noah, you need to study? You’re Ravenclaw’s pride! And this really won’t take much of your time. Help us out, okay?"
"Fine, fine. Have someone come to London to pick me up. I have no interest in going to your place."
"Of course. See you then!"
