Cooperation
"I have no objections to this condition!"
Amelia was the first to voice her agreement.
"Agreed!"
Victor appeared rather calm.
"I… agree too!"
Marcus hesitated for a moment before choosing to agree. Although Gu Sheng had not finished speaking, Marcus understood his father’s personality. If he wanted to obtain his blood, he might have to fight him.
Marcus cared about his family, but his father’s actions had long since broken his heart. For William to regain his sanity, if absolutely necessary, he could only bring himself to fight his own biological father.
"Good~ Since everyone has reached a consensus, I’ll wait for your good news. Just don’t keep me waiting too long!"
Gu Sheng smiled, then walked over to Sonia and Lucian. "Lord Victor, Sonia and Lucian will stay by my side for a while. That’s not a problem, right?"
"Sonia, Lucian, stay by Mr. Will’s side during this time. Tanis, arrange the best rooms in the castle for our honored guests."
Victor’s peripheral vision swept over the assembled councilors. Although he also disliked the idea of vampires and werewolves joining together, Sonia was his daughter, and he was unwilling to abandon her unless absolutely necessary.
Now that he had learned from Gu Sheng that his unborn grandson might be the key to allowing him to walk beneath the sun again, he was even less willing to let anything happen to his daughter.
Although Vampire Castle was under his control, there were countless vampires within it who were as conservative and ambitious as he was. If they deliberately harmed Sonia, he would not even have the chance to regret it.
"Marcus, I hope you find your father soon!"
Before leaving, Gu Sheng added this remark. He then put an arm around Liu Daimei and left the council chamber, while Lucian hurriedly followed them out with Sonia. Marcus’s expression shifted repeatedly. Just as Gu Sheng had predicted, it was no coincidence that Marcus would eventually find Alexander.
"Lord Victor, this human is far too arrogant! He actually caused Chairman’s death!"
The moment Gu Sheng left, the councilors began making a commotion. The female noble who had previously echoed Chairman’s words was the first to step forward.
"Silence!"
Victor slammed the armrest of his chair. His gaze swept over the councilors, and a trace of anger flashed through his eyes. He had established the Vampire Council to restrict the other two and safeguard his rule, not to bind his own hands. It seemed he had been wrong.
He raised his head again, looking first at Amelia and then at Victor. "Victor, are you confident you can deal with this human?"
"My master, this man is far too mysterious. Before fighting him, I can’t know the outcome. However, I sense a threat from him—a threat to my life. I have only felt this kind of sensation from my father."
Marcus appeared extremely respectful. Back then, for William’s sake, he had willingly pledged himself to Victor and made him his master.
But Victor’s behavior after capturing William had left Marcus deeply dissatisfied. He now had other ideas in mind. "However, I already have a way to help William. If we release William, I can make him listen to me. William and I should be able to—"
"Enough!"
Victor shouted sharply. "You know William’s condition perfectly well. His Mad Wolf illness has not healed, and he cannot be released. Once we obtain your father’s Perfect Blood, I will naturally help treat him."
Victor had never intended to release William. He possessed an extremely powerful desire for control and would not tolerate anything that threatened his rule.
The Werewolf Progenitor William was a mindless beast. Releasing him might lead to another werewolf calamity. Even if Marcus guaranteed that he could control William, Victor was unwilling to believe him.
If Marcus had not threatened him back then, saying that killing William would cause both the werewolves and vampires to lose their Immortal Bodies, Victor would have already chopped that beast to pieces.
"Yes, my master!"
Marcus lowered his head respectfully, a trace of resentment flashing through his sapphire-blue eyes.
"Amelia!"
Victor turned to look at the female warlord who was still seated. "Mobilize your guards. Find the whereabouts of Alexander’s third son, and keep an eye out for any news of Alexander. Alexander’s strength may be greater than ours. We must be extremely careful."
"I understand!"
Amelia held a Silver Whip in her hand and nodded at Victor to show that she understood. Unlike Marcus, who was constrained by Victor, she had her own vampire descendants and subordinates and was not under Victor’s control.
"And you lot! Didn’t you hear my order?"
Victor stood up and roared at the councilors below, "Go find Corvinus’s third son. Use your influence in the human world. You must find the Corvinus Family."
In the castle corridor, Tanis led the way. Gu Sheng and Liu Daimei walked in the middle, while Sonia and Lucian followed behind, each separated by some distance.
"I didn’t expect things to go so smoothly this time."
Liu Daimei held Gu Sheng’s arm. Even after leaving the council chamber, she still found it unbelievable. What she had thought would be difficult to obtain, Gu Sheng had acquired with ease. He had even gotten the entire vampire race to treat him courteously and search for what he needed.
"It’s nothing more than a matter of strength."
Gu Sheng smiled and tightened his arm around her. "This is merely an ordinary B-rank world. Its strongest combatants are only Fourth Star Level existences, and I’m not weak even among Fourth Star Level experts.
"I displayed my strength and offered information along with suitable terms. Those clever people naturally knew when to accept a favorable deal. Politicians may be annoying, but there are still relatively few true idiots among them. They naturally know when to advance and when to retreat."
"Is that so? The way I see it, those councilors looked like they wanted to skin you alive!"
Liu Daimei was somewhat displeased by Gu Sheng’s smug appearance. She bit his ear and grumbled.
"They’re just a bunch of clowns. Do you think they even exist within my field of vision?"
Gu Sheng smiled. "The people I need to care about are those who truly have the authority to decide matters. In reality, if Victor didn’t possess that authority, he wouldn’t even qualify for my attention.
"Within the entire vampire castle, there aren’t many who truly deserve my attention. There’s one and a half: Marcus, and the half who is still in your belly."
"Oh? So you’re saying you look down on me too?"
A girl’s train of thought could be rather peculiar at times. When Gu Sheng put it that way, Liu Daimei immediately drew a different conclusion. She twisted his weak spot and performed a two-finger pinch.
"Spare me! Spare me, Mei-jie! Please be magnanimous…"
Gu Sheng immediately begged for mercy without bothering to think things through. Women could be utterly unreasonable when angry. If he resisted now, what if she gave him the silent treatment and refused to let him into bed? He still wanted to experience what this young lady’s foreign beauty incarnation felt like!
"Hmph~"
Liu Daimei felt that her dignity had been defended and released him with satisfaction. She failed to notice that she had already lost ground above and below, with most of her territory having fallen under Gu Sheng’s control. If not for the several eyesores nearby, Gu Sheng really wanted to let the young lady know who was truly the head of the household.
