Cull Obsidian’s Arrival
"Just received word, North America Sector 17 needs reinforcements."
"Mutant squad, move out to support."
"South America Sector 26 needs reinforcement too."
"East Asia Sector 21 requires reinforcement…"
The war reached a fever pitch the moment it began; the enemies struck fiercely and overwhelmingly. In an instant, nations across the globe plunged into the most critical of total wars, while superheroes and powerful mutants provided fire support to major combat zones worldwide under the coordination of the Earth Allied Forces, vastly mitigating a total collapse of the Earth coalition.
Yes, merely mitigating. Despite all the reinforcements, the Earth coalition still remained at a disadvantage in the overall war situation. The enemy’s physical fitness and firearms surpassed those of the Earth Allied Forces by more than a notch. Without the support of superheroes and mutants, the Earth coalition would have already collapsed in defeat.
Above New York, eight space warships hovered like a gloomy doomsday, causing immense panic among the New York citizens. Fortunately, regular soldiers maintained order on the streets, keeping things relatively stable.
A few people stood atop a skyscraper, including Black Widow and Captain America, while Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk were absent—presumably off supporting battles elsewhere.
"It’s our turn to step up; New York cannot be destroyed in the hands of these guys." Captain America gripped his shield, gazing intently at the Dark Order space warriors descending from the sky. Ordinary citizens hid inside residential buildings and skyscrapers, while regular soldiers and armed police engaged these Dark Order space warriors in combat.
"Tony, the battle disadvantage in the sky over there is too great; I’ll leave it to you." Captain America looked toward the sky, where Earth’s most advanced fighter jets were being chased and battered by Dark Order fighters, leaving them zero room to retaliate.
"No problem, watch me." Tony had already finished suiting up in the Iron Man armor. With that, he shifted his posture and shot straight into the air, flying toward the distant sky.
"We should move out too."
Captain America led Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and the others toward the ground.
Battles raged fiercely all over the world, much like New York right before their eyes. Buildings sustained damage, casualties continuously mounted, and superheroes pulled out all the stops fighting this group of enemies hailing from the Milky Way Galaxy and other star systems across the universe.
"Romanoff, watch your back."
Captain America threw his shield, knocking away a Dark Order space warrior who had rushed behind Black Widow. This warrior possessed a sturdy build and wielded a long blade glowing with red light—a close-combat weapon infused with technological power, possessing vibration-cutting capabilities. If that blade came down, even with Black Widow’s formidable strength, she would not escape severe injury if not death.
"Thanks, Steve!" Black Widow did not even look back, rushing up to the space warrior knocked down by Captain America, drawing a dagger, and stabbing it straight into his chest. Blood spurted, the space warrior let out a muffled groan, and life drained from his body, clearly dead.
"Wanda, I’ll leave the front to you; I’m heading to the back." Captain America spoke, already running swiftly toward the rear, where a group of aliens was slaughtering regular soldiers.
Tat-tat-tat…
Machine guns in the hands of the regular soldiers roared incessantly. Some aliens charging from the front fell, yet even more punched through the hail of bullets, reaching right up to the soldiers and using their weapons to continually harvest the lives of the troops.
"Go to hell!" Captain America charged forward, his shield dropping aliens one by one, knocking them flying. Some died from Captain America’s heavy blows, while others were knocked unconscious, leaving the regular soldiers to finish them off.
"It’s the Captain!"
"The Captain is here!"
"Yeah, a good thing the Captain came, otherwise who knows how many of us would’ve died!"
"All right, cut the chatter, keep fighting!"
"Charge, kill these invaders!"
The battle continued; blood and fire burned, mechanical firearms roared, and lives perished in the process.
Xiao Hen’s figure emerged from the void. He first glanced up at the sky; a few warships in space had not yet descended to Earth, and among them, the flagship was unmistakably the warship carrying Cull Obsidian.
"This guy hasn’t come down yet; is he observing the combat power of Earth’s powerhouses? What a cautious fellow." Xiao Hen shook his head and ceased paying attention to Cull Obsidian. If he wanted to strike, he could easily eliminate Cull Obsidian. However, to reiterate his earlier point, his target was Thanos, so an ant as stout as Cull Obsidian should be left to Earth’s superheroes.
Right at that moment, the warships under the coverage of Xiao Hen’s Divine Sense stirred, moving closer to Earth. It seemed Cull Obsidian had finished his observations, concluded that no one on Earth could threaten him, and intended to make a personal move.
"Planning to strike? Landing location: New York?"
Xiao Hen flickered, arriving in New York. He glanced at the fierce battle below, then stood leisurely atop a skyscraper, waiting for Cull Obsidian’s arrival: "Surely someone can handle Cull Obsidian? Thor or Hulk can at least fight him to a draw, though thoroughly defeating Cull Obsidian will be a bit tough! At the critical moment, I might still have to step in."
Cull Obsidian’s warship plummeted into the skies over New York, and an immensely sturdy figure stepped out from it, plunging crashing down from the sky. The figure, over three meters tall, smashed a deep crater more than ten meters in diameter straight into the ground.
"Earthlings! Hand over the Infinity Stones!"
A thunderous voice echoed from the deep crater, rolling out into the surroundings.
The Earth Allied Forces headquarters immediately received word. How could they not pay attention when such a terrifying boss descended?
Instantly, the most powerful superheroes and mutants hurried over.
Thor, Iron Man Tony, Scarlet Witch Wanda, Captain America who was already stationed there, and of course, the strongest combatant, Hulk.
Hulk possessed human consciousness at this time, unflooded by rage, meaning Hulk was not in his ultimate state yet, but rather Bruce.
The Hulk transformed by Dr. Banner reached maximum combat power in a completely enraged state—a state known as Hulk—whereas under the Hulk state, having his humanity awakened by Black Widow allowed him to control his anger as Bruce. However, in this state, his combat power decreased somewhat, with the advantage being that he would not slaughter people indiscriminately like Hulk.
"You’re here?" Captain America looked at Bruce, who had landed with a crash, and Thor wielding his warhammer, and spoke.
"Yeah, how could we not come when such a big guy descends?"
"This fellow is way more troublesome than Ultron." Tony’s voice rang out from the Iron Man armor: "Looks like we’ll have to team up to fend off the enemy."
"For guys like these who want to destroy the Earth, do we really need to talk to them about chivalry?" Bruce said coldly.
"Let’s go, guys!"
