Dark Phoenix
The flame power Jean currently used was merely a manifestation of the Phoenix Force, which could not yet be considered the true Phoenix Flame, and was clearly still insufficient to kill Cull Obsidian.
With raging flames blazing on both hands, Jean glared angrily at Cull Obsidian opposite her. She had originally been following the professor and dealing with space aliens in other areas, but the professor learned through telepathy that the situation in New York had changed drastically, and temporarily transferred her over to provide reinforcements. Upon arriving, she discovered that the enemies here were so formidable that it was simply a crushing battle; just as the fight began, Captain America, Thor, Tony, and even Hulk were all defeated, and Tony and the others were even in mortal danger.
The enemy this time is exceptionally powerful! Jean’s expression was solemn as her flames condensed into two fireballs in her hands. The bright red fireballs slowly turned dark red, the temperature began to rise, and the surrounding air started to distort.
"Does mere fire even think of dealing with me?" Cull Obsidian snorted, his figure appearing beside Jean like lightning as he slashed down with a blade. That sharp edge sliced through the air silently, leaving a trail of black cracks at the edge of the blade—those were spatial fissures, and Cull Obsidian’s attack had reached the terrifying level of cutting through space.
Jean’s pupils contracted slightly. She simply could not block such a powerful slash in her current state, yet she could not just sit and wait for death either. With no other choice, she could only release the energy within her body.
Boom!
A dark red flame soared into the sky, surrounding her entirely. The endless flames burned the entire sky, and half of New York City could see this soaring pillar of fire. The flame took a columnar shape, continuously rolling and surging upward like an immovable tornado.
Hiss, hiss…
This giant pillar of flame actually stubbornly withstood Cull Obsidian’s saber attack.
"Hn? Such energy? Such flames?"
Cull Obsidian let out a startled cry and halted his figure. He could clearly perceive from the woman in front of him that terrifying energy was erupting from within her body, energy that was so horrific, boundless, and seemingly as terrifying as it was endless.
"The Phoenix Force!"
Far away in Florida fighting in the war, Professor X Charles abruptly raised his head and looked in the direction of New York. The weather in the sky over that place had turned fickle, and a large expanse of the sky was dyed red.
"Jean has unlocked the seal inside her body? It seems the enemy is extremely powerful!" The professor looked worriedly in that direction. He knew just how terrifying that power inside Jean was; if it erupted completely, even the Earth would be unable to withstand this horrific force.
The combat power of Jean, whose Phoenix Force had erupted, soared abruptly. Jean now was even stronger than Hulk’s completely enraged state; just how strong she was could be seen by looking at her current battle with Cull Obsidian.
"Hah!"
With a sharp shout, Jean waved her hand, and a chain formed of flames swept toward Cull Obsidian like a flexible fire snake, attempting to bind and scorch him.
"Break for me!"
Cull Obsidian slashed out, striking the flying flame chain. The two collided, bursting forth with crackling crisp sounds, and the flame chain actually struck against his heavy blade, fighting to a standstill.
"Come again!"
Cull Obsidian’s expression was somewhat unsightly. The suddenly appearing woman before him possessed combat power that was actually this strong, which was not within his expectations at all.
"Phoenix Force, burn!"
Jean roared furiously, and the flames blazed once more. A huge dark red fireball formed between her hands and was violently shoved by her toward Cull Obsidian ahead.
Cull Obsidian wanted to dodge, but thinking that this was merely the native of a planet, it would be far too shameful to evade. A ruthless look flashed across his face as he gripped his blade with both hands and executed a split-the-mountain strike.
Boom!
Under Cull Obsidian’s full-force slash, this gigantic fireball capable of destroying a city was forcefully cleaved into two halves by him. The scattered flames flew toward the sides, detonating more than a dozen high-rise buildings, and the unextinguishable Phoenix Flame burned wildly, reducing everything flammable on the ground to ashes.
This was still because Jean’s current strength was not yet strong and the Phoenix Force was not pure enough; if it were the White Phoenix form, a single spark would likely burn the Earth to nothingness.
The flames at this moment only burned the objects on the ground without scorching the dirt and stones.
Huffed, huffed…
With a fatigued expression, Jean looked at Cull Obsidian, who had cleaved the fireball apart with a single slash, breathing heavily. It was far too taxing for her current human body to bear this horrific energy, and she could clearly feel the energy within her body growing more and more explosive and increasingly difficult to control.
Yet, if I do not defeat the enemy before me, Earth, humanity, everything, everything will be destroyed… Rather than that, then, unleash!
Jean closed her eyes slightly, and the human aura on her body gradually faded away, replaced instead by a noble and sacred aura. This was a horrific aura that stood high above, overriding all living things.
The dark red flames transformed once more, growing even dimmer in color before finally turning into a noble and mysterious purplish-red. These purplish-red flames no longer leaked and erupted wildly as before, but instead began to slowly contract and shrink back into Jean’s body.
A pair of flame wings appeared behind Jean—purple flame wings. The purple flames encircling her body enshrouded her, making her look like a flaming angel. The flame wings flapped, and Jean’s body floated in mid-air. Her eyes slowly opened, burning with holy purple flames, and human emotion was completely gone from her gaze. What remained was a terrifying majesty that could destroy all things in the world and return the entire world to chaos; this gaze of peerless majesty transformed her into another high-level being, just like a deity—supremely sacred.
Jean’s combat power in this form had already reached the divine level in the world, the true deity tier. A Combat Power of two million could absolutely crush Earth, and even crush the Milky Way Galaxy. Throughout the entire galaxy, aside from a numbered few individuals such as Thanos and Odin, absolutely no one was her match.
Of course, Xiao Hen also counted as one.
"Perish!"
Looking at Cull Obsidian opposite her with his unsightly expression, Jean raised her hand slightly and pointed from afar at Cull Obsidian. A purple flame sprout flew out from her finger, drifting toward Cull Obsidian at a speed that was slow yet resolute.
Cull Obsidian’s expression truly was unsightly. This person before him did not play by the rules at all—how could anyone transform just like that, and suddenly become this strong?
The strength the woman before him currently displayed was already comparable to Thanos, the most formidable figure in his mind. Although his own strength was formidable, he was no match for this woman either. Thinking of this, Cull Obsidian wanted to flee, but the moment his figure moved, he felt the stagnation of the surrounding space. The entire space was imprisoned by the Phoenix Force, and he was completely unable to move.
"No!"
Cull Obsidian let out a furious roar, but he had already been touched upon the body by that small purple flame sprout.
