Did I Profit or Lose?
Looking at the blackish-red blood of the evil god all over the ground, Li Feng smacked his lips regretfully. He hurriedly pulled out the Green Gourd, drained the last of the beer inside, then carefully collected all the evil god’s blood into it.
Then Li Feng flew to the evil god’s chest. Just as he was about to grab the Scythe, his entire body stiffened.
Danger? Scratching his head, Li Feng circled the Scythe and muttered in confusion, "What does that mean? Did the little guy inside the Scythe evolve again?"
That seemed likely. No matter how little Divine Power the evil god had, it was still a god. The little guy had absorbed a god’s soul. There was no reason for it not to evolve.
After thinking it over, Li Feng, who did not dare touch the Scythe, sent it into his Personal Space from a distance. He planned to inspect it once his strength had recovered.
After dealing with the Scythe, Li Feng happily dug open the evil god’s chest and ripped out its no-longer-beating heart.
This was good stuff. Whether Li Feng ground it into powder for use as medicinal ingredients or traded it with certain great gods, he would not lose out.
After sealing the enormous heart, Li Feng grinned and flew to the evil god’s head to search for the Pseudo-Seraph Feather.
Before long, Li Feng found the Pseudo-Seraph Feather on a hollow tube, with only three strands left.
Why was it bald already? Li Feng was somewhat baffled. This thing was his first choice against dark creatures. Without it, he would be a little less confident when facing them.
For example, when facing Mephisto, Li Feng with a Pseudo-Seraph Feather and Li Feng without one were completely different.
Looks like I’ll have to stay away from Mephisto from now on, Li Feng thought helplessly.
Loki’s Mask had shattered, and the Pseudo-Seraph Feather was nearly out of energy. In exchange, he had only gotten an evil god’s corpse. Had he profited or lost?
Still conflicted, Li Feng dismantled the evil god’s body with a bleak expression. He did not dare leave the corpse intact, much less turn the evil god into a Mummy.
Although the gods of the Marvel Universe did not have any setting where they could regenerate from a drop of blood, what if? Li Feng did not want to fight the evil god again. People would die. Therefore, dismemberment was the evil god’s only fate.
After separately sealing the blood, bones, and horns from its head and placing them into his shoulder bag, Li Feng glanced around the Mirror Dimension. Once he made sure nothing had been left behind, he left the space with his head hanging low.
In the real world, Kurt and the others were gathered around the Magical Artifacts, eagerly guessing what they did. When Li Feng suddenly appeared with drooping brows and downcast eyes, they did not need to ask. They could tell with their toes that he was not in a good mood.
Kurt, who had been chosen as the representative of the five, gathered his thoughts and slowly said, "Sir, is the evil god dead? When can we leave this damned place?"
"The evil god is dead. As for leaving? Anytime," Li Feng said. He glanced at the artifacts on the ground, which had not been touched, and asked curiously, "Have you picked your gifts?"
The evil god was dead? What wonderful news. Kurt and the others exchanged looks, their eyes filled with joy at having escaped death and survived the disaster.
As for picking gifts, heh. How were they supposed to choose when they knew nothing?
Kurt shook his head slightly and gave a fake smile. "We don’t understand these things. We don’t know how to use them, or what the cost of using them is, so…"
Li Feng nodded in realization. Are they afraid they’ll accidentally use an artifact and get themselves killed? Careful enough. But that was only natural. After seeing all sorts of monsters in this world with their own eyes, even the dumbest person would understand that the world was not as wonderful as they had imagined. Some seemingly ordinary artifacts might carry hidden dangers.
Li Feng put the armor into his Personal Space and sat weakly on the ground. While recovering some Mana, he took the opportunity to explain the effects and side effects of the artifacts to Kurt one by one.
Once he understood the rules for using the artifacts, Kurt picked one up under his companions’ envious gazes, indicating that he had chosen his gift.
Seeing this, Li Feng waved his hand and opened a passage to the old geezer’s gas station. There was no helping it. The gas station was the place Li Feng was most familiar with in this world. It was remote enough that no one usually disturbed it, making it a good place to recuperate.
Back at the gas station, the old geezer saw that every single sacrifice that had supposedly been offered had returned. His face instantly turned pale with fright. He ran back into the dilapidated wooden house, grabbed a hunting rifle, and asked fearfully, "Are you people human or ghosts?"
"Heh heh." Li Feng sneered a few times, snapped his fingers, and directly hypnotized him. Then he said tiredly to Kurt, "Figure out your own way home. I’ll be staying here for now."
With that, Li Feng ignored how Kurt and the others would return to the city from this desolate place. He walked into the old geezer’s bedroom, released several Dementors as guards, and entered meditation.
Three days later, Li Feng had recovered his strength. Wearing the face of a man in his thirties, he sat on the roof drinking beer and chewing on steak, while the old geezer carried a hoe behind the broken wooden house and cleared land for planting wheat.
After filling his stomach, Li Feng burped and took out the armor and Scythe from his Personal Space, floating them before his eyes.
Looking at the battered right-hand gauntlet of the armor, Li Feng’s eye twitched. Damn it, I lost big this time. This was forged from Uru Metal. Where am I supposed to find Uru Metal to repair it?
With no other choice, Li Feng cast a spell to summon Hellfire over the armor, then took some metal from the breastplate and other sections to repair the right-hand gauntlet.
However, although the armor looked fully repaired afterward, its metal had become thinner.
I wonder if its defense will weaken. Probably. Maybe. It might. Helplessly, Li Feng returned the repaired armor to his Personal Space and turned his attention to the Scythe.
Earlier, when the tip of the Scythe had pierced through the evil god’s chest, it had been chipped away. Li Feng had no choice but to repeat the process and summon Hellfire again to repair it.
Once the Scythe’s exterior had been repaired, Li Feng took a deep breath and slowly let it out. He carefully reached out to inspect Carter Slade inside the Scythe.
Before long, Li Feng happily put the Scythe into his Personal Space. Carter Slade had regained some of his sanity. Looks like I need to find an opportunity to finish off that traitor Abomination.
A Hell Knight with Abomination’s physique, and one who belongs exclusively to me. Heh heh.
After dealing with the armor and other equipment, Li Feng was about to jump down from the roof for more beer when the roar of armored vehicle engines came from the distance.
Li Feng scratched his head and watched several armored vehicles approaching the gas station in confusion.
The armored vehicles stopped in the distance. Kurt and the other four stepped out, along with several burly men in black suits and a young woman wearing a business suit and gold-rimmed glasses.
Before long, they arrived outside the wooden house. Kurt, whose face was practically written with the word "haggard," looked up at Li Feng and said in a somewhat exhausted tone, "Austin, sorry. They’re the organization that made an agreement with the evil god. If I hadn’t told them you were at the gas station, they would have killed us."
As soon as Kurt finished speaking, the woman with gold-rimmed glasses interrupted, "We never said that. Our exact words were ‘make you disappear.’ We meant having you join us and erasing your personal records so outsiders would not know you existed."
The woman with gold-rimmed glasses flashed a sweet smile, swept a slightly contemptuous gaze over Kurt, Marty, and the others, and said, "You misunderstood it yourselves. You can’t blame us for that."
Heh. Kurt and the other four secretly rolled their eyes. After interrogating us for three days, your conclusion is just that we scared ourselves? Like hell I believe that.
"Mr. Austin," the woman with gold-rimmed glasses said politely as she looked up at Li Feng on the roof, "we would like to speak with you."
"About what?" Li Feng asked with confusion and curiosity.
He really was curious. Logically speaking, now that the evil god had been killed, everyone should celebrate for a few days. Then the woman’s organization would kill the monsters they had imprisoned, and finally everyone would go home.
That should have been the end of it.
As for how they intended to treat him, the hero who had slain a god, Li Feng did not believe they were unaware that he had been obediently staying at the gas station for the past three days.
This was not the age of slash-and-burn farming. Were all those satellites in the sky just decorations?
Besides, with the old geezer clearing land behind the wooden house, Li Feng had already made it clear that he did not want trouble. He only wanted to guard the gas station and live quietly.
The woman with gold-rimmed glasses glanced sideways at Kurt and the others. They immediately understood, waved goodbye to Li Feng, and jogged back to the armored vehicles.
With a professional smile, the woman with gold-rimmed glasses said, "Who are you? Did you come from another dimension like the evil god? We investigated your records and found that you suddenly appeared near the gas station four days ago."
Li Feng shrugged, neither denying nor confirming her guess. "Just tell me what you want."
The woman with gold-rimmed glasses fell silent for a moment, then pointed at the armored vehicles in the distance. "They contain tools for capturing monsters. Do you need me to introduce them?"
Li Feng held his right hand over his forehead to block the sunlight. As he looked toward the armored vehicles, he grinned. "They have all kinds of advanced weapons inside?"
When she nodded, Li Feng could not help laughing. "I killed an evil god that even Nuclear Weapons couldn’t kill. Do you think a pile of scrap metal can subdue me?"
"Subdue you? We’re not that foolish. You misunderstood me," the woman with gold-rimmed glasses said, shaking her head slightly. She pushed up her glasses and continued, "We examined the gift you gave Mr. Kurt and found some Runes carved on it. I believe you are a Mage from legend. We came to ask for your help. We would like you to imbue the weapons we use to capture monsters with Runes, or teach us Runic writing."
After a pause, the woman with gold-rimmed glasses said gloomily, "We had no choice but to disturb you."
She took a deep breath and let out a sorrowful sigh before continuing, "Although the evil god has been killed, there are still many monsters on Earth that we need to eliminate and capture. But our weapons are too weak against monsters. Every mission costs several lives before it can be completed. So we hope you can help us."
Li Feng understood somewhat, but he had no intention of carving Runes for them or taking on disciples. Rather than waste time on that, he might as well cultivate.
Even drinking was more interesting than teaching disciples.
Besides, had they really come to learn Runic writing just to capture monsters? Probably not.
What they wanted was probably to learn magic.
Researching monsters still wasn’t enough for them? Li Feng shook his head with a faint smile.
Seeing Li Feng refuse, the woman with gold-rimmed glasses froze for a moment, then smiled. "Mr. Austin, why don’t you hear our terms before refusing?"
"No time." Li Feng stretched his limbs, a flash of crimson appearing in his eyes. He released the Dementors and ordered, "I need slaughter to release the desires in my heart. Starting now, search the entire world for monsters."
Didn’t you say Earth had plenty of monsters? Then I’ll kill until you have no monsters left to study.
