Each Side’s Trump Card
"My brother, you knew I might be fake, yet you still couldn’t bring yourself to strike. How are you supposed to avenge anyone or become king like that?"
Loki looked at Thor with disdain. "A king needs to be cold and ruthless, like Odin."
"A king needs kindness. He needs compassion."
Thor climbed to his feet, turned to Loki, and shouted, "I won’t kill you. I’ll lock you up until you die of old age."
"Then try it."
With a wave of Loki’s hand, a group of Frost Giant warriors who had long been lying in wait nearby revealed themselves and charged at Thor with furious roars.
"Loki, I won’t let you get away with this."
Thor swung Thor’s Hammer and battled the powerful Frost Giants. He was no longer who he used to be; these Frost Giants were no match for him and were blasted away one after another.
Jane, who was setting up the Void Stabilizer aboard the spacecraft, saw Thor fighting and could not help sighing. She had always thought she came first in Thor’s heart. Now, she finally understood that she was only third.
Thor’s number one was that hammer, Loki was second, and only then came her. Jane was truly speechless. What kind of relationship was this? Should they just break up? Aside from being handsome, having a good body, and plenty of stamina, that guy had no other redeeming qualities.
Leaving Jane’s frustration aside for now, the Space Fleet was battling the Chitauri in the sky. Besides trading fire, both sides had dispatched large numbers of bio-soldiers to fight fiercely in midair. In only a short time, many motorcycles, bio-soldiers, and giant beasts had fallen from the sky.
Fortunately, the area below had already been cleared, so there was no need to worry about anyone getting crushed.
Steve said, "The Chitauri have more troops than we do. Black Bolt, it’s your turn."
"I’ve been waiting."
Black Bolt’s phone ringtone came through the communicator. Then, a Revenge appeared out of thin air overhead. Dressed all in black, Black Bolt stood at the spacecraft’s entrance with an imposing presence.
"It’s a little cold."
Black Bolt shouted three words. The void shook, and a Chitauri mothership ahead of him exploded with a thunderous boom before shattering into pieces and raining down toward the ground in flames.
"How is that possible?"
The Chitauri were nearly scared pissless and immediately turned their cannons toward the Revenge. Black Bolt rubbed his throat and walked back into the ship. The Revenge raised its Defense Shield as it flew skyward.
At the same time, Gordon led a group of Inhumans through Teleportation into the main control room of a Chitauri mothership. He sneered. "Every mothership has the same layout? You people really lack imagination."
The Chitauri captain was shocked. He called for reinforcements while raising his gun and firing at Gordon’s group. Ili immediately erected a Defense Shield. At the same time, Toad Glasses Inhuman removed his glasses and glared at the Chitauri one by one.
Several dozen seconds later, all the Chitauri higher-ups had fallen. Pain Girl stepped forward, grabbed a Chitauri’s hand, and said with a smile, "Give me your pain."
Seeing that the situation was settled, Gordon said, "I’ll leave this to you. I’ll take the others to the next ship."
"No problem. This mothership will soon be on our side."
Toad Glasses Inhuman nodded. Smiling, he said, "Other than the higher-ups, all the Chitauri are bio-soldiers. They obey orders completely."
"Good."
Gordon nodded and took Skye and the others to the engine room of the next mothership.
Yes, the engine room, not the command room. After what happened before, the command rooms of the other Chitauri motherships would definitely be heavily guarded.
Quite a few soldiers were protecting the engine room. When they saw Gordon’s group appear, they immediately raised their guns and fired. Inhuman Giyera snorted and lifted his hand, sending all the Energy Guns flying into the air.
Then Qiao Yi stepped forward and waved her hand. All the soldiers’ armor melted, and they screamed in agony as they were burned.
Qiao Yi looked contemptuous. "What era is this? You’re still wearing metal armor?"
Skye placed her hand on the wall and said with a smile, "Good thing the Asgardians aren’t here, or you’d get beaten up."
"The Asgardians are bizarre too. They clearly have advanced technology, but when they fight, they all charge forward carrying weapons. They’re no different from medieval soldiers."
Gordon mocked them. Just then, a large number of bio-soldiers rushed over as reinforcements. As everyone prepared to attack, Skye shouted, "Gordon, get us out! The engine’s about to blow!"
Without another word, Gordon immediately teleported everyone away. The next moment, the Chitauri engine room exploded with a thunderous boom. Flames surged out wildly and swallowed every soldier who had come to reinforce them.
Without its engine room, the mothership naturally began trailing black smoke as it fell. The Chitauri were terrified and fled aboard Space Motorcycles and Leviathans.
A moment later, the Chitauri mothership crashed to the ground with a thunderous boom, collapsing an entire row of nearby buildings.
At the same time, Pain Girl finished taking control. The mothership began firing madly at its own side, instantly reversing the situation.
"Are Earthlings really this powerful?"
Loki stared in stunned disbelief. In such a short time, out of five Chitauri motherships, two had been destroyed and one had been taken over. Was this really the Earth that could not even leave its own planet? "Loki!"
Thor’s roar came from nearby. Loki could not be bothered with him. After thinking for a moment, he activated the magical device in his hand. With a whoosh, a large number of Frost Giants and Fire Giants appeared around him.
They were the regular armies of the Frost Giants and Fire Giants.
The Frost Giant and Fire Giant leaders roared, "Destroy the Asgardians! Destroy the Earthlings!"
"Destroy the Frost Giants! Destroy the Fire Giants!"
Steve shouted coldly. The troops hidden within the surrounding buildings immediately fired missiles at the Frost Giants and Fire Giants.
Hundreds of missiles streaked out, falling like meteors into the Frost Giant and Fire Giant positions before exploding with thunderous booms. The area instantly turned into a sea of fire.
A large number of Frost Giants and Fire Giants were annihilated on the spot. More Frost Giants died, naturally, since Fire Giants were not afraid of fire.
That was not all. Moments later, a second wave of missiles arrived. At the same time, large numbers of bombers took off toward the area, while the naval fleet at sea launched medium-range missiles in succession.
In short, they carpet-bombed the area with missiles.
Seeing the Frost Giants and Fire Giants’ miserable state, the human leaders in the command room cheered. President Ellis even sneered, "A bunch of primitives, and you dare invade Earth?"
"Exactly. You don’t even have a decent weapon. Do you really think Earthlings are easy to bully?"
Everyone nodded. One-on-one, humans truly were no match for Frost Giants or Fire Giants, but humanity had technology.
The Prime Minister of England stared at the sea of flames with a bitter expression. Why did the war have to take place in London? How much would rebuilding cost?
"Don’t worry. Mr. Wang said he would compensate you with some alien technology."
President Ellis noticed the Prime Minister of England’s distress and smiled. "Mr. Wang won’t let us take a loss."
"Alien technology?"
The Prime Minister of England’s eyes lit up. He immediately declared righteously, "Continue the missile bombardment. Don’t stop. Even if all of London is blown up, we cannot let a single alien survive."
Everyone looked at the Prime Minister of England speechlessly. He wanted more compensation, did he not?
Five minutes later, the missile bombardment ended. The area occupied by the Frost Giants and Fire Giants had become complete ruins. Other than a small number of Fire Giants, every invader was dead.
Elite squads hidden throughout the city emerged and used high-tech weapons to wipe out the remaining Fire Giants. So what if they were aliens? Earthlings were not weak.
"How could this happen?"
The Chitauri and Dark Elves felt as though they had fallen into an ice cellar. They had never expected the Frost Giants and Fire Giants to die so quickly, or so miserably.
Thor laughed loudly. "Loki, do you see that? You’re about to lose."
"Idiot."
Loki looked disdainful. He felt neither sorrow nor anger over the Frost Giants’ complete annihilation. If they did not die, how could he become the Frost Giants’ queen—no, king? Loki had no intention of being a puppet.
"Everyone, hold on! It won’t be long before Malekith and Ebony Maw kill the Blood God and come support us!"
Algrim roared. The Dark Elves, Chitauri, and the ice-and-fire allied army were all collapsing. Their only hope of victory now lay with Malekith and Ebony Maw.
"Hold on!"
The allied forces roared as one. They could not lose this battle, because they had no way out.
"A futile struggle."
Steve looked disdainful. He had absolute confidence in Wang Bert, because Wang Bert had never disappointed Earth.
To many people, Wang Bert had already become Earth’s protector. Moreover, Earth possessed such strength precisely because of him.
Let’s turn the clock back a little. In the Mirror Dimension, Wang Bert faced Malekith and Ebony Maw head-on. Ebony Maw looked around and sneered. "Blood God, this place will become your burial ground today."
"Are you ever going to stop? You said the same thing last time. And what happened?"
Wang Bert sneered. "I don’t know how you came back to life, but today, you’re definitely going to die again."
"The one dying today will never be me."
Ebony Maw spoke with complete confidence. Malekith added, "That’s right. The ones dying today will never be us. Blood God, since we dared come here, we are absolutely certain we can kill you."
"Then come and try."
Wang Bert did not waste words. He instantly equipped his armor, and brilliant blue-red Light Flame blazed around his body, making him look like a god.
Seeing the blue-red Light Flame, both Ebony Maw and Malekith became somewhat wary. Malekith controlled the Aether and asked, "Do you know how Cursed Warriors are born?"
"I don’t, and I don’t want to."
Wang Bert said.
Malekith was a little speechless, but he continued his introduction anyway. "Cursed Warriors use fragments of the Aether to transform life and soul into extraordinary combat power. Put simply, they exchange an entire lifetime for a brief moment of brilliance.
"Because they are only fragments, the effects are not very good. The best method is to transform oneself directly with the Aether. That way, one can obtain invincible power."
As he spoke, Malekith absorbed the Aether into his body. His body rapidly expanded, and an eerie red glow emerged from it.
Malekith had used the Aether to transform himself into a Cursed Warrior.
"Blood God, no matter how powerful you are, can you truly surpass the Dark Elves’ ultimate Cursed Warrior?"
Malekith roared in a deep voice. Then he stomped hard, splitting the ground apart with an enormous crack. He laughed loudly. This was invincible power.
Wang Bert was a little surprised. "You turned yourself into a Cursed Warrior? Are you throwing your life away?"
"So what if I am, as long as the Dark Elves’ great cause can be fulfilled?"
Malekith shouted, "Blood God, you’re dead today."
"That’s right, Blood God. You’re dead today."
Ebony Maw laughed loudly as well. He shouted, "Ancient God, I offer you most of my soul in exchange for the Blood God’s death. If he does not die, the agreement is void."
"I normally would not accept such an agreement, but the target is the Blood God. I accept."
The Ancient God’s sinister voice rang out. He had not been fooled by Ebony Maw; he simply wanted revenge against the Blood God. Ancient Gods were nothing special? Who gave you the nerve to say that?
The next moment, Ebony Maw’s aura surged wildly, and strange runes representing the Ancient God appeared on his face. He raised his hand and activated his power, making the entire ground tremble.
"Blood God, either one of us would be enough to kill you in a one-on-one fight, much less now that it’s two against one. Today, you’re dead."
Malekith and Ebony Maw roared at the same time. To kill the Blood God, they were willing to pay any price.
"You two have actually made me see you in a new light."
Wang Bert raised an eyebrow and said, "In that case, I can’t hold back either."
As he spoke, the blue-red Light Flame around Wang Bert’s body burned fiercely, as though it would burn through the void itself. Malekith and Ebony Maw both became even more vigilant. They were confident, but their opponent was the Blood God. They could not afford the slightest carelessness.
Just as both men focused all their attention on Wang Bert, a Tesseract appeared out of thin air above Malekith’s head. Then, a beam of spatial light shot from the Tesseract and landed on Malekith. Malekith instantly vanished.
"Malekith?"
Ebony Maw froze and hurriedly tried to sense Malekith, but he could not sense him at all.
Ebony Maw was deeply shocked. With his current power, as long as Malekith remained in the Main Universe, he could sense him no matter how far away he was. Now he could sense nothing. There were only two possibilities: Malekith was dead, or Malekith was no longer in the Main Universe.
Ebony Maw asked Wang Bert in shock and fury, "What did you do?"
Wang Bert recalled the Tesseract and said calmly, "Some time ago, I spoke with Odin. He said that as a protector, one must have a trump card to keep those demon gods from invading Earth.
"I thought he was right, so I secretly developed a trump card. I just didn’t expect to use it so soon."
Ebony Maw asked, "What trump card?"
"Secret."
Wang Bert smiled. He would never tell an enemy about his trump card.
This trump card was called Dimensional Banishment. Simply put, it used the Space Stone to exile enemies to other dimensions.
Given Earth’s situation, once someone was exiled, they could forget about returning to Earth unless they broke Ancient One’s protective formation.
In Mephisto’s Hell, the mentally diminished Mephisto watched the battle broadcast floating in midair and chuckled foolishly. Fight. Don’t hold back on my account. Beat each other’s brains out.
Both Ancient One and the Hell Lords were Mephisto’s enemies. Now that they were fighting each other like dogs, Mephisto was naturally delighted beyond measure.
At that moment, a beam of spatial light descended from the sky, destroying the palace roof before landing on the ground.
"Again? Wait, why did I say again?"
Mephisto hurriedly rose to his feet and watched the light ahead warily. Soon, the light faded, revealing the massive Malekith before him.
"Blood God!"
Malekith clenched his fists and roared. He looked around, then asked Mephisto, "How do I get back to Earth?"
"If I could go to Earth, would I still be stuck here?"
Mephisto looked at him with contempt. "It seems you have a grudge against the Blood God?"
"Mephisto, this guy has the Reality Stone. Kill him, and the Reality Stone is yours."
Wang Bert’s voice suddenly rang out. "The Reality Stone can grant any wish—for example, restoring your intelligence."
