First Arrival on an Alien Planet

Although Kara seemed utterly determined, testing was not something that could be done overnight. Zhang Ye still needed to explain some crucial information and potential problems in advance. It was better to lay the ugly truth out first.

Looking at Kara, who was eager to try, Zhang Ye took out the Time Twister and began to speak.

"In a moment, I’ll open a portal. On the other side will be an unknown planet. I can only guarantee that its ecosystem is very similar to Earth’s and that it is under a Red Sun. What I can’t guarantee is whether it’s safe over there."

Seeing Kara about to say something, Zhang Ye raised a hand to stop her from interrupting and continued.

"I know you’ve made up your mind, but I still need to make this clear. This test is mainly to see whether the Red Sun radiation there affects Kryptonians. But accidents could easily happen. If the Red Sun radiation there is even a little stronger, you could die."

Zhang Ye was not trying to scare her. The climates of different planets were only a basic concern; the radiation from their stars was the greatest factor affecting this test.

Kara had already been strengthened by a Yellow Sun. If she were suddenly exposed to a Red Sun with radiation stronger than Krypton’s, the result would be like red-hot metal being plunged into ice water. Such an extreme difference could even threaten Kara’s life.

And that was only the most obvious danger. Ever since the incident in the Ruined Universe, Zhang Ye had viewed the abilities of all superpowered individuals like ticking time bombs, as though those powers could destroy their wielders at any moment.

Take solar radiation, for instance. Radiation was difficult to test and verify, and everyone’s constitution was different.

If Kara had an allergic reaction to the Red Sun radiation there, she would still be walking straight into death. That was a result Zhang Ye absolutely did not want to see.

Precisely because the destination was so dangerous, Zhang Ye wanted Kara to make the decision herself.

"Enough. I’m going!"

Kara’s answer was still the same. Her resolute expression made Zhang Ye admire her a little. Perhaps hatred really could awaken the strength hidden in a person’s heart.

Seeing Kara’s utter disregard for life and death, Zhang Ye hesitated no longer. He found the location marked Zod’s Tomb on the Time Twister’s screen, then pressed the button to begin the jump.

The next moment, the air before Zhang Ye and Kara suddenly began to tremble violently. Then a purple rectangular energy barrier unfolded from top to bottom, standing before them like a doorway.

Looking at the passage leading to an unknown planet, Kara was still a little nervous despite how resolute she had sounded. After being imprisoned for so many years without anyone to talk to, her mental age was about the same as when she had first arrived on Earth—only in her teens, still just a child.

Zhang Ye was nervous as well, but he quickly adjusted his mindset. Still, as he looked at the purple portal, he became even more certain that the Time Twister had definitely been modified.

Because in his memories, the Time Variance Authority’s portals in the Loki TV series had been golden-yellow, completely different from the one he had opened.

"Ready? I’ll go over first and take a look. Stay behind me." Zhang Ye glanced at Kara as he spoke and walked into the portal.

His reasoning was simple. Everything on that planet was supposedly similar to Earth, with the Red Sun being the only possible exception. He should not have much of a reaction after crossing over. On the other hand, if something happened to Kara behind him, Zhang Ye could simply kick her back through the portal.

It did not sound particularly elegant, but it was the only "safety measure" Zhang Ye could think of.

The moment he stepped into the purple portal, Zhang Ye felt nothing, as though it were merely a holographic projection. But then a powerful gust of wind swept over him, and in the blink of an eye, he found himself in a Gobi Desert.

He did not recklessly move forward. Zhang Ye even held his breath. This was his first time on an alien planet, and he was both curious and wary of everything. He needed to mentally prepare himself even to breathe.

He looked up. Red sunlight blanketed the land. Unlike the sun on Earth, this Red Sun was not impossible to look at directly. Zhang Ye could even see something moving irregularly across its surface.

After taking a moment to steady himself, Zhang Ye began breathing in small, cautious breaths. Nothing unusual happened after the air entered his lungs, and his heart relaxed slightly. It seemed this planet really was much like Earth.

Then movement came from behind him. Zhang Ye immediately realized that Kara had probably followed him through, so he instantly prepared himself, afraid that something might happen to her.

Soon, Kara emerged from the portal. Unlike Zhang Ye, she moved naturally, without the slightest hint of caution. Her expression was somewhat blank, perhaps because she was nervous.

"Zhang, is this an alien planet?" Kara had indeed been nervous at first, but when she saw the surrounding environment, she was instantly captivated—and deeply shocked.

The two of them stood in a vast Gobi Desert. The ground beneath their feet was mostly covered in gravel, dotted with a few withered plants. In the distance stood jagged rock formations, with many enormous, irregular boulders scattered across the ground.

And in the sky, aside from the Red Sun, four enormous planets hung around them. Those were probably this planet’s moons. Beyond that, there was even a visible ring of asteroids, an incredibly magnificent sight.

Kara could be certain that this was absolutely not Earth. Not only was it not Earth, this planet was not even within Krypton’s observable range. That was what shocked Kara most of all.

After all, even Krypton did not possess technology capable of crossing galaxies like this. Yet Zhang Ye could casually open a portal leading to another planet. That alone was an astonishing ability.

"Yes, this is an alien planet. I feel fine. The environment here really doesn’t have much effect on Earthlings, even with a different sun." Zhang Ye paused before asking, "What about you? How do you feel right now?"

Seeing Zhang Ye standing there as if he were ready to lift his foot at any moment, Kara did not know whether to laugh or cry.

"I… don’t feel anything. Is something wrong?" Kara looked at her hands and asked uncertainly.

But when she looked up, she saw Zhang Ye pointing at her face.

"Are you sure you don’t feel anything? Your nose is bleeding."
