Test Successful
"Is there?"
Kara froze for a moment, then immediately raised her hand to wipe beneath her nose. Soon, she saw blood on her fingertips, but what puzzled her was that she had not felt her nose bleeding at all.
Just as she was about to say something, Kara suddenly felt a tightness in her chest. The next moment, intense dizziness washed over her, making it difficult for her to stay on her feet. Then her throat sweetened, and she spat out a mouthful of blood.
That gave Zhang Ye quite a fright. He had anticipated a situation like this, but when it actually happened before his eyes, he was still somewhat at a loss.
"Kara, are you okay? Hang in there, I’ll take you back right now!" Seeing that Kara could barely stand, Zhang Ye hurried forward to support her. But this time, the feel of her body made him breathe a sigh of relief.
Under normal circumstances, Kara’s body was extremely hard. Only the surface layer of her skin was somewhat soft; the flesh beneath was taut and firm. That was what made up her Man of Steel physique. But now, Zhang Ye discovered that her skin and flesh had both relaxed, feeling no different from an ordinary girl’s.
It seemed his test had succeeded. The Red Sun here could truly override the Yellow Sun’s enhancement and reduce a Kryptonian’s physique to that of an ordinary person.
Now, all he needed to do was ensure Kara’s safety. Fortunately, she was right beside the portal and could return with barely a turn of the body. Even if something happened to her, she could receive emergency treatment as quickly as possible.
However, though Zhang Ye was supporting her, Kara showed no intention of going back. She shook her head, let out a long breath, and spoke weakly.
"There’s no need to go back. I’m fine."
"Are you sure? You’re in pretty bad shape right now. We still don’t know how long someone with your physique can last here. What if staying too long leaves behind some hidden complications?" Zhang Ye said seriously.
"I’m really fine. My body just reverted to its previous state so suddenly that I’m not used to it yet." Kara waved her hand, signaling Zhang Ye not to worry. "I know my own body very well. I don’t know where you found this planet, but I can tell you that this place is very similar to Krypton."
"Really?" Zhang Ye’s heart stirred.
"Sort of. But I’m not saying this planet is similar to Krypton. It’s the sunlight here—it’s almost exactly the same as Krypton’s sunlight. There are still some differences, though, so I want to stay a little longer and take a look." Kara released Zhang Ye’s hand and walked a few steps forward.
Seeing what Kara was doing, Zhang Ye did not stop her. Since she had said so herself, he would let her continue testing. There did not seem to be any danger at the moment, though he had no idea whether there were any hidden risks.
Kara walked more than two meters away, then came back. She clenched her fists tightly and jumped in place, seemingly trying to see whether her Bio-Field could still support her in floating.
Naturally, the result was a failure. Even her Man of Steel physique was gone, so her Bio-Field would not have remained either.
Kara spent more than ten minutes hopping back and forth as she tested herself, while Zhang Ye simply watched silently from the side. He could not help with this kind of specific testing, nor could he offer any useful suggestions. Since Kara had her own method, he let her do as she pleased.
Soon, Kara stopped. She walked over to Zhang Ye and said,
"This is about what I expected. Although the solar radiation weakens us Kryptonians, it doesn’t completely suppress us. My physical abilities are still somewhat stronger than those of you Earthlings."
"Maybe this Red Sun still retained a bit of energy," Zhang Ye guessed, but he quickly asked, "Can you tell me exactly how much stronger?"
"Mm, probably three to five times stronger than you humans. I don’t know how to classify it precisely, but I’m certain that Kryptonians here are ten thousand times weaker than we are on Earth. Maybe we really can avenge my cousin!" Though Kara’s voice was weak, her spirits were high.
It seemed the results of this test had truly given Kara hope of revenge. Like her, Zhang Ye nodded slightly.
A physique three to five times stronger than an Earthling’s did indeed sound superhuman. But Zhang Ye had grown accustomed to mutants, so he was not intimidated in the slightest. A General Zod at this level was no longer anything to fear.
After the test ended, Zhang Ye and Kara quickly returned to Wayne Castle. When leaving that planet, Zhang Ye had not forgotten to collect a large number of stones from the Gobi Desert.
Perhaps these stones could not compare to genuine "kryptonite," but after being exposed to the Red Sun for so long, they carried massive amounts of radiation themselves. They were more than enough to deal with the Kryptonian army.
At the very least, this battle to defend Earth would no longer be completely one-sided in humanity’s disadvantage.
By the time they returned to the castle, night had already fallen outside. Not because Zhang Ye and Kara had been gone for long, but because dark clouds had blanketed the sky. Torrential rain battered the windowpanes, producing a relentless crackling sound.
It seemed the plan to help Barry Allen regain the Speed Force had already begun.
However, Old Batman had clearly underestimated Gotham’s weather. After several hard-won sunny days, his casually arranged artificial rainfall had directly affected Gotham City’s climate. For the next month, Gotham City would probably be stuck in gloomy, rainy weather.
"How do you feel after coming back? Nothing feels wrong, does it?" Zhang Ye casually placed the stones on a table some distance away from Kara, then turned to look at her, breathing "heavily."
"Don’t worry. I’m not as fragile as you think." Kara shook her head, then sighed. "Right now, it feels like I’m carrying a heavy burden. It’s nothing like before, and without sunlight, I’m recovering slowly."
"It’s fine. Once Barry regains the Speed Force, I’ll have Bruce take you up into the sky in a plane. The sunlight is better up there, and you’ll be able to recover to your previous state faster."
As the two spoke, a tremendous flash suddenly erupted outside the window. The light illuminated the dim Wayne Manor as brightly as day.
Immediately afterward, an ear-splitting thunderclap exploded!
Hearing that earth-shattering roar, both Zhang Ye and Kara felt their hearts tighten.
They immediately looked toward the Batcave. If their judgment was correct, Barry Allen’s plan to regain the Speed Force had reached its critical moment.
