Fish Dragon Wharf, A Young Thief
"No, no need. This is enough for us," one of the servants said nervously. Eating with their master had already made them uneasy, let alone being allowed to feast.
Su Yu shook his head helplessly. "Suit yourselves. After lunch, take the children back."
Upon hearing Su Yu’s words, all four children looked up at him. Huang Rong asked, "Brother, where are you going?"
"I’m going to have a look around the two major gangs and the Three Great Families," Su Yu said.
Huang Rong’s eyes lit up. "I want to go too."
Su Yu smiled and mercilessly refused. "No."
"Ah! I want to go!" Huang Rong said with puffed cheeks.
"Getting angry won’t help. I’m not going there to play. Be good, take your sisters home, and I’ll be back soon." Su Yu waved his hand.
"Hmph!" Huang Rong pouted unwillingly.
Seeing her expression, Su Yu wordlessly took out four Lollipops. The instant Huang Rong saw them, all traces of reluctance vanished from her face. She smiled at Su Yu and said, "Brother, go ahead. We’ll go home obediently."
"You said it. Don’t take the Lollipop and then go back on your word," Su Yu said with a helpless smile.
Huang Rong immediately nodded furiously. "I said it, I said it."
Seeing how impatient Huang Rong was, Su Yu handed out the Lollipops, then stood and looked at the servants. "Remember, make sure you get them home safely."
The servants immediately nodded. "Yes, Young Master."
With that, Su Yu left the Drunken Immortal Restaurant. He did not ask the servants to guide him; the two gangs and Three Great Families were surely household names in Jiangnan, so he only needed to ask around.
After leaving the Drunken Immortal Restaurant, Su Yu asked someone where the Fish Dragon Gang was located. The Fish Dragon Gang controlled the wharf trade in the south of the city. All businesses connected to the wharves fell under their management, and naturally, they had to protect those businesses. Their headquarters was thus located in the largest estate near the biggest wharf in the southern part of the city.
The Lion Tiger Gang was much the same. Its headquarters was likewise located in the largest estate near the biggest wharf in the north of the city.
Su Yu had nothing to do today, so he decided to see what these major powers were like. The largest wharf in the south was Fish Dragon Wharf, a name chosen by the Fish Dragon Gang. The biggest wharf in the north was called Lion Tiger Wharf.
Su Yu arrived at the wharf alone. Countless ships, large and small, filled the docks. The entire place was perpetually bustling beyond measure, with people constantly coming and going. In the crowd, Su Yu was jostled this way and that.
Suddenly, Su Yu spotted someone sneaking through the crowd. At a glance, he saw exactly what the person was doing.
Su Yu smiled. "This thief is quite skilled. Wherever his blade passes, there’s money."
A youth who appeared to be only fourteen or fifteen darted through the crowd, holding a razor blade between the index and middle fingers of his right hand. Amid the passing crowd, no one noticed the blade in his hand. Wherever he cut, money would fall into his grasp. Su Yu was beginning to wonder whether the thief had some kind of X-ray vision.
Before long, several men carrying sabers arrived. They immediately drove the surrounding crowd away, leaving only the youth with the blade.
The leader approached the youth with a helpless expression. "Young Master, can you stop making trouble? Our Fish Dragon Gang may lack plenty of things, but money isn’t one of them. Why do you insist on stealing money in the streets?"
The youth immediately became unhappy. "Uncle Zhang, I’m not stealing money. I’m practicing martial arts."
The man surnamed Zhang, who led the group, covered his face in exasperation. Then he grabbed the youth by the shoulder. "Young Master, fine, fine. You’re practicing martial arts, all right? The Gang Leader is looking for you. Come back with me."
"Uncle Zhang, don’t drag me…" The youth was dragged away by the man surnamed Zhang.
Once they had left, everyone resumed what they had been doing. Smiling curiously, Su Yu tugged on the shoulder of a man beside him and asked, "Big Brother, who were those people just now?"
"Little brother, you just arrived in Jiangnan, right? The man leading them was the Fish Dragon Gang’s second-in-command, and that youth was Jiang Xiaoyu, the only son of the Fish Dragon Gang’s leader. You wouldn’t believe it—Jiang Xiaoyu has been extremely strange since he was little. Every day, he goes out into the streets and steals people’s money. Just think about it: his father is the leader of the Fish Dragon Gang, and money is the one thing they never lack. Yet he insists on doing this. He’s practically angered Gang Leader Jiang to death."
When the man heard Su Yu ask about Jiang Xiaoyu and the others, he immediately told him everything he knew.
Su Yu smiled. "Interesting." Then he looked at the man and said, "Thanks, Big Brother."
"It’s nothing." The man smiled, then went back to work.
Su Yu’s figure flashed, and he vanished directly from the street. He had not used the Space Stone’s ability; instead, he used ordinary lightness skill to reach a rooftop, then followed Jiang Xiaoyu and the others all the way to the Fish Dragon Gang.
Fish Dragon Gang
The Fish Dragon Gang’s second-in-command, Zhang Quan, dragged Jiang Xiaoyu into a room before leaving directly. Su Yu lay down on the roof above the room.
Inside the room
A middle-aged man looked at Jiang Xiaoyu and shouted in furious disappointment, "You brat, did you run out into the streets to steal again?"
"Father, I was practicing martial arts…"
"Practicing my ass!" Jiang Xiaoyu’s father, Jiang Long, grabbed a handful of papers and threw them at Jiang Xiaoyu.
Jiang Xiaoyu lowered his head and muttered, "I was practicing martial arts…"
"You… Are you only satisfied once you’ve angered me to death?" Jiang Long said, pointing at Jiang Xiaoyu in fury.
Then Jiang Long sighed. "Xiaoyu, can you stop making trouble? I already told you, that old man you met as a child was deceiving you. What Shadowless Hand? Those are just dirty tricks used by thieves. Why do you keep treating it like treasure? Tell Father what martial art you want to learn, and I’ll empty my fortune to get it for you!"
Jiang Xiaoyu said angrily, "Father! What right do you have to say that Shadowless Hand is some dirty trick used by thieves? When I was young, I saw Senior Xie use Shadowless Hand to take a man’s heart straight out of his body! For Senior Xie to sell me such a peerless manual for one million taels—that was my opportunity!"
"You! You’ll be the death of your old man!" Jiang Long slammed his palm onto the table in rage.
On the roof, Su Yu smiled and shook his head. Jiang Xiaoyu had been thoroughly fooled. Taking someone’s heart directly out of their body? Was this still a martial arts world? Still, Shadowless Hand was not entirely useless. At the very least, pickpockets would definitely love it.
