The Three Great Families Visit the Drunken Immortal Restaurant
"The remaining three families are the Dugu Family, Situ Family, and Shangguan Family. Together, they control sixty percent of the economy throughout Jiangnan, while the other forty percent is entirely in our manor’s hands. Each of the Three Great Families has a First-Rate Expert."
After hearing the servant’s report, Su Yu nodded slightly, a thoughtful look appearing on his face. Although Peach Blossom Mountain Manor was indeed the foremost power in Jiangnan, if the two major sects joined forces, they could still shake Peach Blossom Mountain Manor’s position.
If the two sects and Three Great Families all joined hands, it would definitely be a major problem for Peach Blossom Mountain Manor.
Su Yu asked, "How are the relationships between these various factions?"
The servant replied, "Peach Blossom Mountain Manor is on good terms with the other factions. The two major sects are at odds with each other, and the Three Great Families are also at odds with one another. Young Master, are you worried that they might join forces against Peach Blossom Mountain Manor? There is no need to worry about that. Their relationships are extremely poor; they will not join hands."
Su Yu smiled. "Poor relationships? As long as the benefits are great enough, all that is bullshit. Aside from the manor, there are currently seven First-Rate Experts in Jiangnan. Although my senior brothers have learned Peach Blossom Island’s superior martial arts, there are simply too many of them. We have to stay on guard against these factions."
Su Yu felt that Qu Lingfeng and the other three still lacked experience in the martial world. The two major sects and Three Great Families were like festering tumors. If they caught the manor off guard, they might take a bite out of it at any time.
It seemed he would have to visit those two major sects and Three Great Families another day. He could not let his senior brothers suffer losses in the future, Su Yu thought to himself.
The group spent the entire morning boating until the four children grew hungry, then they finally went ashore. Su Yu looked at a servant and asked, "Is there anything good to eat nearby?"
"I know, I know! Little Martial Uncle, the food at Jiangnan’s Drunken Immortal Restaurant is delicious!" Lu Guanying immediately said excitedly.
Su Yu smiled. "Oh? Is it as good as your martial grandmother’s cooking?"
Lu Guanying shook his head without hesitation. "No. Martial Grandmother’s cooking is the best. Drunken Immortal Restaurant is second."
"Alright, let’s go see this Drunken Immortal Restaurant you mentioned." Su Yu smiled as he rubbed Lu Guanying’s hair.
Soon afterward, Lu Guanying and Qu Xiaoling led Su Yu and the others to a three-story restaurant. The sign above the entrance bore the three words "Drunken Immortal Restaurant," and a waiter stood at the door, ready to receive arriving guests.
As a waiter at Jiangnan’s finest restaurant, he had sharp eyes. With one glance, he could tell that Su Yu’s group was either wealthy or noble. He immediately stepped forward with a smile. "Young Masters and Young Ladies, please come in."
Su Yu nodded slightly, thinking that this restaurant’s waiter was quite capable, then followed him inside. At a glance, Su Yu saw that at least ninety-nine percent of the seats were occupied.
The waiter looked around, then said apologetically to Su Yu and the others, "Young Masters and Young Ladies, I’m truly sorry, but I’m afraid there isn’t enough room inside for all seven of you."
One of the two servants took out a token and held it before the waiter. "Take my young masters and young ladies to the third floor."
The moment the waiter saw the token, his expression changed drastically. It was forged from pure gold, engraved with the two words "Peach Blossom," and surrounded by peach blossom markings. He quickly made a welcoming gesture. "So you are the manor’s young masters and young ladies. Please."
Su Yu nodded slightly and followed the waiter to the third floor. The second floor, like the first, was nearly full, but the third floor did not have a single person. The group entered a room and sat down.
Su Yu looked at the two servants. "You two sit down as well. I have something to ask you."
The two exchanged a glance. Lu Guanying spoke up, "Big Brothers, my Little Martial Uncle already told you to sit. Just sit."
The two sat down nervously. Eating with the manor’s young masters and young ladies was something they had never even dared to imagine before.
"Why did that waiter become so respectful toward us after seeing your token? And why is there no one on the third floor?" Su Yu asked.
One servant answered, "Young Master, it’s like this. Ninety percent of Jiangnan’s businesses are basically controlled by one manor, two sects, and Three Great Families. This Drunken Immortal Restaurant is controlled by Peach Blossom Mountain Manor. The third floor was specially reserved by the restaurant’s manager, and only people from Peach Blossom Mountain Manor may come up here."
Su Yu nodded slightly, then asked, "Since this restaurant is controlled by the manor, why did that waiter not recognize Guan Ying and Xiao Ling at first?"
"Oh, that is because Young Master and Young Lady rarely went out before. Whenever they wanted food from Drunken Immortal Restaurant, servants would bring it back to the manor. So there are not many people in Jiangnan who truly recognize Young Master and Young Lady," the servant explained.
"So that was it. I was wondering what was going on." Su Yu nodded.
"Why isn’t the food ready yet? I’m starving to death." Huang Rong rested her head on the table and spoke listlessly.
The servants immediately stood up. "We’ll go urge them right away."
With that, the two promptly left the room for the kitchen. Sitting together with Su Yu and the others still put too much pressure on them, especially since Su Yu, Huang Rong, and Huang Rou were the manor lord’s junior martial brother and sisters.
Very soon, one grand dish after another was brought to the table. Huang Rong immediately perked up, her eyes shining as she tightly gripped her chopsticks. Watching dish after fragrant dish being placed on the table, she was practically drooling.
Su Yu teased with a smile, "Xiao Rong Er, you’re drooling."
Huang Rong froze for a moment, then hurriedly reached up to wipe her mouth. Although she was lively and active, she still thought of herself as a little fairy. How could she drool in public?
After wiping for a long time without finding any drool, Huang Rong immediately puffed out her cheeks. She glared at Su Yu angrily and said, "Stinky Brother, I’m angry! The kind that can’t be coaxed!"
Su Yu smiled, picked up a piece of pork belly with his chopsticks, and held it before Huang Rong’s mouth. Her eyes fixed on the pork belly as she swallowed, then she directly bit into it. With a satisfied expression, she ate while saying, "Mmph… I’ll forgive you this time."
"Eat, everyone. The food won’t taste good once it gets cold." Su Yu said with a smile.
The moment Su Yu spoke, Lu Guanying and Huang Rong seemed to turn into two starving ghosts reincarnated, desperately fighting over the dishes. Huang Rou and Qu Xiaoling, meanwhile, ate properly like little ladies.
The two servants timidly kept eating the plate of stir-fried cabbage in front of them. Su Yu smiled and shook his head. "You two do not need to be so restrained. Eat whatever you want. We’re not my senior brothers, so what are you afraid of?"
The monthly exam is tomorrow. I hope I can survive after it.
