Gathering Intelligence, Fury Sets Out

After the No-Eyed People and the Toad Monster left, everything around them returned to normal. Skye’s expression changed. Why had the No-Eyed People appeared here? And what was with that Toad Monster?

"We’re leaving. Let’s avoid any trouble."

Skye took a deep breath and had the bodyguards escort Mindy and the others away. Mindy was deeply dissatisfied. She had thought there would be something exciting to watch, only for it to end in an instant.

The moment Wang Bert received the news, he hurried back to the hotel. Looking at the recorded footage, he frowned slightly. "Why would wild Inhumans appear?"

Inhumans needed Terrigen Crystal to awaken. Under normal circumstances, there would be no wild ones. This was completely different from mutants.

That was also why the Inhumans had remained undiscovered all this time.

Wang Bert asked, "Skye, has that No-Eyed People contacted you recently?"

"Only once. He told me that both my parents are still alive."

Skye said, "As long as I keep passing along information, he’ll let me see my parents. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder whether he’s just stringing me along."

"If I’m not mistaken, he should come looking for you tonight."

After thinking for a moment, Wang Bert said, "Get him talking."

Skye was stunned. "He’ll come looking for me tonight? Really?"

"We’ll know tonight."

Wang Bert did not say more and waved for Skye to leave.

Next, Wang Bert called Lilith, who was holding down the fort at Osborn Corporation, and instructed, "Investigate any recent unusual incidents, things like Toad Monsters suddenly appearing on the streets."

He had sought out Lilith rather than James, the intelligence chief, because James was in London helping Mercury fight a war.

"Alright."

Lilith nodded first, then said, "Blood God, can someone else take over my position? I don’t want to be president."

"You’re president and you’re still complaining? Keep at it for a while. Mercury has to deal with matters in Europe."

Wang Bert said. Lilith hesitated before saying, "Blood God, doing this might draw Dracula out."

"Wouldn’t that be even better?"

Wang Bert said, "As long as he stays hidden, he’ll remain a threat. On Earth, he’s the one who poses the greatest danger to me."

Hearing Wang Bert’s undisguised malice, Lilith fell silent for a moment before saying, "Dracula is immortal."

"So am I."

Wang Bert put down the phone, his eyes flickering. Lilith seemed particularly concerned about Dracula? That night, Eyeless Gordon really did appear in Skye’s room. Somewhat angry, he questioned Skye, "How could you let those bodyguards shoot?"

Skye did not understand. "What’s the problem? That was a monster."

"Then am I a monster in your eyes too?"

Gordon grew even more displeased. "Skye, he and I are both your kind."

Skye was stunned. "My kind? What do you mean?"

Gordon said, "There’s no need to hide it from you anymore. You’re an Inhuman, just like us. You simply haven’t awakened yet."

Skye was even more shocked. "What is an Inhuman?"

"I’ll explain that to you later. Just remember, if you encounter strange people like that again, don’t attack them. Otherwise, you’ll definitely regret it someday."

Gordon said, "Enough of that. Why is the Blood God traveling around the world?"

Skye answered, "To pick up women."

This time, Gordon was the stunned one. "Seriously?"

While Gordon was astonished, a drop of blood flew from the ceiling to the back of his neck and seeped inside—it flew rather than fell, so Gordon did not notice it.

"Absolutely. In just one month, he’s gone through at least thirty women."

Skye said with great certainty. Gordon was speechless. Thirty women in a month—was that guy even human? And were his kidneys made of steel?

After thinking for a moment, Gordon handed over two photographs and asked, "Have you seen either of these things near the Blood God?"

Skye took the photos and looked down. One showed a strange silver Obelisk, while the other showed an unusual black stone. She shook her head. "No. What are these?"

"Very important things."

Gordon took back the photos and said, "Stay by the Blood God’s side. I’ll come find you again."

Skye wanted to say something else, but Gordon had already vanished. Skye frowned deeply. Inhumans? What were they? Was she an Inhuman too?

I only wanted to find out about my origins. Why did it have to be so complicated? Leaving Skye’s complaints aside for now, Gordon teleported back to the Inhumans’ gathering place, Afterlife. Then, he found Jiaying, whose face was covered in scars, and told her everything that had just happened.

Jiaying sighed and said, "The Obelisk isn’t a big deal. We don’t lack Terrigen Crystal now. The key is that Teleportation Stone. It’s a huge threat to us. We have to get it back from the Blood God."

"No one knows where the Blood God hid the Teleportation Stone. Unfortunately, I arrived too late that day. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been so much trouble."

Gordon said, "Jiaying, I think we should tell Skye the truth as soon as possible. Otherwise, she might hurt her own people."

As Gordon spoke, Wang Bert’s blood within his body split in two. One half remained inside him, while the other flew out and quietly entered Jiaying’s body.

"Not yet. We need her at the Blood God’s side."

Jiaying did not notice anything at all. She shook her head and said, "The Blood God is the greatest obstacle to the rise of the Inhumans. We must learn all the information about him, then find an opportunity to kill him."

"That’ll be difficult." Gordon gave a bitter smile. "The Blood God is too powerful."

"Only difficult, not impossible. Inhumans have all kinds of abilities. There will always be one capable of killing the Blood God."

Jiaying said confidently. Gordon nodded. "That’s true. Huh, another one of our people has been born. Jiaying, I’m going to guide him here. One of our people is born every few days now. I’m so happy."

"I’m happy too. Before long, this world will become the world of us Inhumans. Then, we won’t have to hide anymore, and we won’t have to worry about being captured and dissected someday."

Jiaying said through gritted teeth. Whitehall had once cut her into pieces, so she hated humans to the bone.

Remembering something, Jiaying instructed Gordon, "Oh, right. Maximus the King just sent me an order. He wants me to help find the former king, Black Bolt, and Queen Medusa, who escaped prison and fled to Earth. If you find them, come back and notify me immediately. They’re very strong. You’re no match for them."

Gordon asked in astonishment, "Black Bolt escaped to Earth? Will that affect our plans?"

"No. The rise of the Inhumans is inevitable. No one can stop it."

Jiaying said confidently. Gordon nodded and disappeared.

"One new member every few days is still too slow."

After thinking for a moment, Jiaying took a strange blue-purple crystal from a cabinet. Then, using a special alien tool, she slowly ground it into powder.

The work was difficult and required extreme care. One small mistake and the crystal would immediately turn into gas. Yet Jiaying did not find it troublesome at all. Instead, she worked with great enjoyment, because this powder was the future of the Inhumans.

Jiaying, absorbed in her work, did not know that a tiny hand as thin as a strand of hair extended from the back of her neck. The little hand made a circle, and a portal about the size of a sesame seed appeared.

On the other side of the portal was Wang Bert’s room. Wang Bert was lying on the sofa. As the portal opened, his consciousness returned, and he slowly sat up before waving his hand to disperse the portal.

Wang Bert’s consciousness had been inside that drop of blood earlier, which was why it had seemed so alive.

"Maximus became king, and he’s colluding with Jiaying?"

Wang Bert recalled the intelligence he had just obtained and frowned slightly.

The Inhumans were divided into two groups. One was on Earth, centered around Jiaying’s Afterlife. The other was on the moon, ruled by Black Bolt. In the TV series, the two had no connection, but in this world, they had made contact.

"This seems a little troublesome. Fortunately, only a little."

Wang Bert smiled. His blood had already attached itself to Jiaying and Gordon. No matter what they planned, they could not hide it from his senses.

Know yourself and know your enemy; there was no reason to lose.

After thinking about it, Wang Bert called James and asked, "Have there been any unusual movements among the European Blood Clan?"

James knew what Wang Bert meant and answered, "There’s no sign of the Demon God for now, but they’re planning to move against Mercury and Blade."

"They’re courting death. Keep a close eye on them."

Wang Bert sneered. James laughed. "Rest assured, Blood God. I’ve planted many undercover agents among the European Blood Clan, and several families have secretly pledged allegiance to us."

It was perfectly normal for Blood Clan members to defect. After all, Wang Bert was that powerful.

Whether human or Vampire, everyone sought fortune and avoided disaster.

"Very good."

Wang Bert nodded. It was worth mentioning that although he was in Brazil, he had secretly visited major cities like London and Paris. Whenever necessary, he could open a portal there at any time.

James hesitated for a moment before asking, "Blood God, why not simply destroy the European Blood Clan? With our strength, it wouldn’t be difficult."

"That would cause unrest. More importantly, I want the Demon God to make a move."

Wang Bert said, "The Demon God’s power on Earth diminishes with every bit it uses."

"So you want to lure the snake out of its hole."

James understood. The Blood God wanted to use this opportunity to eliminate some of the Demon God’s forces.

"It should be called luring the demon out of its hole."

Wang Bert smiled and hung up. This time, his target was not only the Demon God’s forces, but Dracula as well.

While Ancient One, his great patron, was still around, he needed to eliminate as many hidden threats as possible.

At that moment, Wang Bert’s phone suddenly rang. Captain America was calling. He asked, "Bert, Fury and the others are about to leave. Aren’t you coming?"

"I’m on my way."

Wang Bert drew a circle with one hand and walked through it. On the other side was S.W.O.R.D.’s secret base, where Nick Fury and a group of people stood with bags of all sizes.

Besides Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and the Winter Soldier, the rest were all Fury’s trusted subordinates. There were quite a few of them. That corrupt bastard did have some personal charisma.

Looking at the portal, Steve sighed. "I have to admit, your ability is really convenient. Unlike me, flying around every day for meetings."

"It really is convenient. At the very least, President Ellis can rest easy when I leave America. I heard he nearly cried when he learned I was leaving. Rhodey told me."

Wang Bert smiled, then said to Nick Fury, "We’re finally sending you, the disaster, away. Do your best to plague aliens from now on. No need to spare me any consideration."

Everyone laughed. Fury rolled his eyes and said, "Even in space, I’ll still keep an eye on you."

"Still?"

Wang Bert was speechless. He said, "Fury, your old methods don’t work anymore. It’s time to change."

Fury was silent for a moment, then sighed. "I’ll give it a try."

Wang Bert said, "Alright. If you’re ready, then set off. Oh, and say hello to Thor for me."

Fury nodded. "Alright."

"Steve, apologize to Iron Man for me. Also, thank him for forgiving me."

The Winter Soldier waved to Steve with some dejection. Steve said, "I will. Bucky, make sure you hook up with plenty of alien beauties and bring glory to Earth."

"I would have done that even if you hadn’t said anything."

The Winter Soldier finally smiled. He said, "Oh, right. I’m going to be your child’s godfather. Don’t forget."

Steve smiled. "I won’t."

Once everyone was ready, Wang Bert called toward the sky, "Heimdall."

The next moment, a seven-colored beam of light descended, carrying Nick Fury and the others to the Bifrost. Thor was already waiting for them there.

Thor said enthusiastically, "Welcome, friends from Earth. I’ve already found you a place to live at Starport."

Fury said, "Thank you. These are some basic instruments. Also, Bert asked me to bring some fine liquor as a gift."

"I like Earth’s fine liquor."

Thor beamed and led everyone to a welcome banquet. Ivan and the others were all there.

The next day, Fury led his people to Starport. With his capabilities, he quickly integrated into the place and gathered a great deal of intelligence.

"Space pirates? Ravagers?"

Fury’s eyes lit up. This seemed like a good profession. The money came quickly, the information network was extensive, and most importantly, it was a profession where corruption came easily.

Fury was full of ambition. "Good. I’ll become a Ravager. I, Nick Fury, will open Safe Houses across the Entire Universe."

Leaving Fury’s grand ambitions aside for now, at the secret base, Wang Bert stopped Steve and said, "You, Carter, and the others should come to my estate tomorrow. There’s something very troublesome I need to tell you."

Steve asked, "How troublesome? More troublesome than Hydra?"

Wang Bert thought for a moment and said, "In a sense, it does seem more troublesome than Hydra. If things go wrong, it could trigger a Civil War on Earth in minutes."

"Are you serious? I was just joking!"

Steve was stunned. Wang Bert shrugged and said, "Unfortunately, I am serious."

"God, why did I take over as Director?"

Steve was starting to lose it. He touched his hair, then turned to Coulson and said, "Coulson, how about you become Director instead?"

Coulson was speechless. Captain, don’t think I don’t know what that hair-touching means. At that moment, an image of a bald Captain America suddenly appeared in Coulson’s mind, sending chills down his spine. He hurriedly said, "Captain, leave all troublesome matters to me from now on. I’ll help you with everything I have."

Even if he lost all his own hair, he could not let his idol lose a single strand—excerpted from A Fan’s Self-Cultivation.

"Coulson, thank you so much."

Steve was especially grateful. He asked Wang Bert, "Bert, can you at least tell me what kind of matter it is?"

Wang Bert said, "Uh, superpowers, aliens, races—more or less those things."

"Every one of those sounds troublesome."

Steve sighed. "I’ll gather everyone. See you at the estate tomorrow."

"Alright."

Wang Bert nodded and returned to the hotel through a portal, only to find Skye waiting for him.
