Green Lantern Everlasting!
The Super-Skrull made his move.
The instant Superman acted, he was firmly locked down by a force field originating from Invisible Woman, one of the Fantastic Four’s powers absorbed by the Super-Skrull.
As a race capable of freely altering their appearance and even copying memories to achieve perfect disguises, the Skrulls possessed uniquely gifted genes that gave them tremendous potential for growth.
And the finest among them, beings known as "Super-Skrulls," could even replicate the superpowers of those they imitated, giving their combat strength a terrifying boost.
During the Secret Invasion event, the Skrull forces had once suppressed the heroes with this frightening ability. Had the heroes not reacted in time, Earth would likely have long since become their base of operations.
Now, this Super-Skrull, whom Red Skull regarded as one of his trump cards, had fully mastered Mister Fantastic’s elasticity, Invisible Woman’s force fields, Human Torch’s flaming body, and Thing’s rocky hide.
It could be said that Superman was facing more than just an ordinary alien. In a sense, he was confronting the entire Fantastic Four.
The Skrull pinned Superman tightly to the ground. Before he could react, the Skrull raised his rock-transformed arm high and slammed it down at Superman’s head with all his strength.
The immense force kicked up a cloud of dust, and even the ground trembled violently. That punch, carrying all of the Super-Skrull’s power, seemed to strike everyone in the heart, making them shudder.
"Take them alive."
Red Skull did not even look toward the Super-Skrull’s battlefield. His gaze remained fixed on the remaining members of the Justice League. It had not been easy to encounter so many visitors from another world; he could not let a single one escape.
"Prepare for battle!"
As soon as Batman spoke, he threw out several smoke bombs. Then his entire body vanished into the haze, and even Hydra’s optical goggles could not make out what was happening inside the smoke.
"The Flash, deal with those grunts. Don’t let them form an advantageous formation to surround us. Aquaman, target that guy made of sand. Cyborg, seize air superiority. I need you to draw the attention of those things in the sky."
After a pause, Batman’s voice sounded again. "There’s another one on their side with divine power. I can’t determine exactly which god he serves, but he should belong to the Egyptian pantheon. Wonder Woman, he’s yours."
"Leave it to me." Wonder Woman smiled. Nothing could ignite the fighting spirit in her Amazonian blood more than a battle between gods.
"Lastly, Green Lantern, cover me as I head for the execution platform. Move out—"
With Batman’s raspy voice, every member of the Justice League seemed to find their backbone. At that moment, they completely ignored the fact that they were outnumbered and charged out of the smoke at top speed, accurately finding their own opponents.
In an instant, the full-scale war between the Justice League and Hydra erupted before the eyes of the entire world.
Facing the charging Hydra elites as they gradually formed an orderly formation, The Flash cloaked himself in lightning and plunged headlong into the sea of people.
By now, he was no longer an ignorant rookie with no combat experience. Every time he moved, he evaded the Laser Guns while breaking apart the crucial links in the Hydra soldiers’ formation, making it impossible for them to form an encirclement.
Although Hydra’s members had drilled countless times, and numerous strategists had predicted the Justice League heroes’ special abilities based on every known superpower, they had clearly still underestimated these people from another world.
The cyborg Cyborg shot into the sky and quickly became the target of every armed fighter jet and surface-to-air missile. Yet he showed no fear at all, because his electronic eyes had already scanned every bullet and missile trajectory.
Without needing Red Skull’s orders, Shadow Knight, Leap-Frog Batroc, Sandman Baker, and the others had begun moving the moment the battle started. They were not standing here merely to pad out Red Skull’s numbers.
Everyone understood that if they wanted to earn Red Skull’s favor in the future, they had to display enough strength. Especially after Bullseye and Winter Soldier vanished, whoever wanted to take their place would have to prove himself in this battle.
"I’ve seen you in the videos. A demigod from the Olympus God Realm. Like you, I’m also a demigod blessed by the gods."
Shadow Knight drew the crescent blade in his hand, his gaze upon Wonder Woman’s face filled with cruelty.
"I don’t care."
Wonder Woman had no intention of wasting words on him. She slashed at him with her sword.
Although Hydra had deployed all of its trump cards, they still appeared somewhat inadequate against the Justice League’s seven-man team, especially when quite a few of them were old, weak, injured, or disabled.
Wonder Woman fought two against one, taking on Shadow Knight and Leap-Frog without falling behind in the slightest. In fact, she firmly suppressed them. But compared to her, Aquaman beside her was far less fortunate.
Baker, transformed into a giant of sand and dust, fully unleashed combat power comparable to his prime. Aquaman could not suppress him while in human form and was instead knocked to the ground by Sandman’s punch. Fortunately, Aquaman’s body was incredibly tough, and the blow did not cause him any real harm.
"Aquaman, control the water already! That sand mutant won’t be your match." Cyborg dodged incoming missiles in the sky while keeping an eye on the entire battlefield.
"You think I haven’t tried?" Aquaman shattered the approaching sandstorm with a strike of his trident, then suddenly stretched his palm toward the sewers.
But in the next moment, he shook his head helplessly.
". . . No. The oceans of this world aren’t under my control."
Boom!
Immediately afterward, the sandstorm struck. Aquaman was swept into the air by quicksand, followed by a horrifying giant made of countless grains of sand and stone. It slowly extended a pair of massive hands and fiercely clapped them toward Aquaman.
The air was thick with the pungent, gritty stench of sand. Half of New Times Square was enveloped by the sandstorm raised by Sandman Baker. The entire battlefield was murky as heavy yellow sand swept through, dyeing everything yellow.
Aquaman could not help narrowing his eyes as he struggled to break free from the vortex formed by the sandstorm. But he was simply too slow. Before he could escape, two truck-sized palms slammed together from both sides.
Under the sandstorm’s ravaging force, Aquaman was instantly trapped inside the quicksand palms. The sand might not be able to inflict substantial damage on him, but it could enter his body through his mouth and nose, leaving him unable to breathe.
"This is bad!"
Seeing this, Cyborg hurriedly activated his weapon systems, preparing to use interceptors to block the incoming missiles. He could use the opportunity to rescue Aquaman himself.
But someone was faster than him.
"In brightest day, in blackest night—"
Green light suddenly burst through the gaps in the quicksand, like a sharp sword piercing the palms made of grains and punching through the heavy yellow sands before spilling across the earth.
"No evil shall escape my sight."
It was a light no one could ignore. Under the suffocating blockade of the yellow sand, that green radiance, filled with hope and immortality, stubbornly forced open the sandstorm and shone proudly in the world of yellow.
"Let those who worship evil’s might,"
"How is this possible—"
Sandman Baker’s enormous body clenched both hands tightly, but the light spilling from within them was so blinding that he could not help trying to shield himself from it.
"Beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!"
Before everyone’s horrified eyes, at the instant the final words of the Green Lantern oath were spoken, the green light erupting from Sandman Baker’s clenched fists blasted them apart into scattered grains of sand.
A fierce gale swept out, directly blowing the yellow sand filling the sky away. Even Sandman Baker’s enormous body staggered from the force of the blow.
The sand on his body continually fell under gravity, then floated back up and reassembled under his control, rapidly filling the cracks in his body and restoring his shattered hands.
Baker roared and raised his enormous head toward the green light, wanting to see who had wounded him. Then he saw Green Lantern hovering in midair, green light bursting from between his fingers as he stared coldly back at him.
Beside Green Lantern, Aquaman, who had broken free, also tightened his grip on his trident. His face was dark as he looked at Sandman Baker, seemingly enraged by the setback he had suffered at Sandman’s hands.
"Come on. Round two. I’ll be your opponent."
Green Lantern smiled confidently and raised his arm.
In an instant, green light tore through the clouds and illuminated all of New Times Square.
The brilliant radiance was strikingly visible even in the morning. That life-filled glow could be clearly seen even from the White House, some distance away from New Babylon.
Drawn by the light, Ashley and Black Canary, who had secretly infiltrated the place, could not help turning around to look toward the distant city district.
"The battle has begun."
Wearing a Venom combat suit, Ashley could not help muttering to herself.
"Too bad I’m not there."
Beside her, Black Canary stared blankly at the familiar light, her heart filled with complicated emotions.
After a pause, she took a deep breath, slowly smiled, and spoke into her earpiece.
"I never thought that one day, I would see the light of the Green Lantern Corps again."
On the outskirts of New Babylon, inside a wine cellar hidden deep underground.
Zhang Ye sat cross-legged, suspended in midair. An invisible force held his entire body aloft. As the hand seals formed by Zhang Ye’s hands shifted, vibrant magical energy continuously gathered and twisted around him.
Powerful currents danced through the air, gradually transforming under Zhang Ye’s control into a magnificent picture resembling a galaxy. Within that sea of stars, seven Starlights of different colors, brimming with vitality, shone especially brightly.
Hearing Black Canary’s voice, Zhang Ye slowly opened his eyes. At that moment, his pupils were deep and bright, as though they could pierce the entire universe.
"I should thank you. Without the memories in your mind, I wouldn’t have been able to use Abstract Magic to successfully manifest them in this world."
