Justice League Appears!
The suddenly opened portal caught everyone present completely off guard.
Countless gang members and thrill-seekers watching from the sidelines erupted into an uproar, crowding toward the barriers in an attempt to get closer to the battlefield and see the heroes more clearly.
A curtain of ghostly green clouds hung low, pressing downward like a towering tsunami. The edges of the sky had already dimmed into darkness, eerie lightning flashing from time to time within the black mass of clouds, as though some terrifying shadow lurked above them.
Red Skull narrowed his eyes slightly. Even he felt his heart tremble at the oppressive scene, yet at the same time, an indescribable emotion surged within him.
His heart pounded rapidly. Forty years had passed, and he was finally experiencing the joy of being alive again. After lying dormant in the White House for so long, he had nearly forgotten what it meant to live.
And now, with a hall full of guests and every player taking the stage, this grand show was finally about to begin!
The ground around the portal continued to crack apart, ghostly green flames spreading along the fissures. The uneven surface looked like flowing lava; it was hard to imagine this was the entrance of "superheroes."
The eerie green fire made people uneasy. Some of the more timid spectators felt their legs go weak. The swirling mist in midair made it impossible to see what lay within, and all anyone could sense was that some terrifying existence was awakening and about to step into reality.
The fog gradually dispersed, and the twisted shadows slowly appeared before everyone. As their vision cleared, they saw seven imposing figures standing proudly in the center of the square.
"Th-that is…"
A trembling voice broke the dead silence. At that moment, everyone’s eyes were fixed firmly on those seven people.
No one even dared to breathe, afraid of disturbing the beings whose presence brought unprecedented pressure. If anyone had mocked these superheroes in private before, they could no longer utter a single word now.
"They’re finally here, the Justice League." Red Skull clenched his fists. Looking at those familiar yet unfamiliar figures in the distance, his entire body trembled with excitement.
Jason Todd beside him was just as agitated. His bloodshot eyes were locked onto those people, his mind going completely blank in an instant.
"Impossible. Impossible. They clearly already…"
In Red Hood’s memories, these all-too-familiar people had long since died beyond the stars. There was no way they could have come here to save him.
But when he saw their faces clearly, his breathing quickened in shock. As Batman’s successor and one of Gotham City’s nightmares, Jason Todd rarely lost control of his emotions.
Yet now, he admitted that he truly could not control himself. He stared in astonishment at the demonic figure standing in the shadows among the seven, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Bruce, you…"
Though they were far apart, something seemed to connect them in the unseen darkness.
"I’m here to save you, Robin."
Batman raised his head slightly and looked toward Jason Todd, who was kneeling before Red Skull on the execution platform, covered in wounds.
"This time, I won’t be late again."
In an instant, tears spilled from Jason Todd’s eyes.
However, the touching moment did not last long. Red Skull’s excitement gradually turned into madness. He kicked Jason to the ground, then stepped on his back.
"Heh heh, hahahaha! The Justice League has finally appeared!"
Red Skull’s burning gaze swept over the seven of them one by one.
A young man clad in red with a lightning emblem on his chest, a metal-bodied cyborg, a burly man holding a trident and wearing fish-scale armor, and another man dressed in dark green with divine light shining from his fingers.
Finally, Red Skull fixed his gaze on the three people leading them. He had recognized them. These were the trio who had thrown his territory into chaos some time ago, and someone had spread their codenames far and wide.
"Batman, Wonder Woman, and… Superman." Red Skull licked lips he did not possess. "You finally came. Honestly, I thought you would have been more patient."
"Enough talk, Skull." Superman’s eyes were resolute. He spoke softly, yet his voice boomed like thunder into the ears of everyone present. "Release Red Hood and end this."
"End this?"
Red Skull sneered coldly and raised one hand. The next moment, every Hydra soldier lifted their Laser Guns, surrounding the Justice League from all directions. At the same time, under Arnim Zola’s control, the automated weapons activated as well, aiming at the seven of them.
"It certainly should end, but the ending will be each of you kneeling before me."
"You’ve already decided the outcome? You really are arrogant. I hope you can remain this optimistic when I cut off your head." Aquaman laughed boldly. As the king of Atlantis and lord of the four seas, he never turned down a challenge.
"My world once had a group of people like you. But do you know what became of them? Look beneath your feet."
Red Skull spread his arms as if embracing the entire world.
"You stand upon their bones. Next, you will follow in their footsteps, just as they did before."
"Then let me see whether you truly have the strength to make such boasts."
Superman slowly rose into the air. Without any assistance or energy propulsion, he simply floated straight upward. Behind him, his crimson cape snapped sharply in the cold wind.
With that single movement, Superman drew everyone’s attention. Everyone wanted to know what kind of power he possessed to dare challenge the ruler of this world.
War was about to erupt. Just as the spectators had hoped, they did not care who won or lost, nor did they care about so-called justice or evil. They only wanted to witness history at this moment.
Would the old king fall, and a new king rise?
Or would the dynasty endure and carve out new lands?
Today would provide the answer to all of it!
Superman extended his fist in midair. The next moment, he shot forward like a cannonball, streaking toward the execution platform at a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow.
His unmatched power and speed produced a thunderous explosion in the air, destructive force blasting away every incoming energy weapon and shell.
Yet Red Skull showed no fear at all. He remained composed, his expression unchanged in the slightest. Even as Superman charged toward him with unstoppable force, he still wore a cold smile.
Just as Superman was about to smash his fist into Red Skull, an external force suddenly struck him. The terrifying impact knocked his attack off course.
Superman felt some invisible energy invade his mind. In the next moment, someone grabbed him and pulled him off course. He arced through the air and crashed heavily into the ground beside the execution platform.
The two tangled together, smashing out a deep crater.
