Gwen’s Choice (Please Bookmark and Keep Reading)
"Sorry, General Ross, but this incident is under the jurisdiction of the NYPD. The military won’t need to interfere."
"Fine, that’s it. I’ve arrived at the scene. I’m hanging up now."
Aboard the helicopter, Captain George hung up on the military’s call without hesitation.
"Captain, won’t directly refusing them like that…"
The officer beside him watched his captain show the military so little respect and could not help worrying about his future.
After all, although the police and the military belonged to different factions, their connections were tangled and complicated. And the other party was, after all, a general. If he resorted to some underhanded methods in secret, the captain’s future might be bleak.
"Hmph. How could those military bastards possibly be kind enough to help us catch criminals?"
"Now that they’ve offered to help, it’s nothing more than an attempt to obtain genetic samples from those two people with extraordinary abilities below, then use them for some terrifying genetic experiment to uncover the secrets hidden within them."
"After all, it’s common knowledge that the military wants to create another super-soldier comparable to Captain America."
"I’m already highly suspicious that these powerful people appearing one after another are the products of certain special military experiments."
"But no matter what, since they disturbed the order of my jurisdiction, it must be our police department that arrests them and brings them to justice."
"Only then can we face the citizens of this city with our heads held high."
Captain George looked at the two Spider-Men below, already surrounded on all sides, a trace of determination flashing in his eyes.
"This is the New York police! People ahead, listen up! You are surrounded. Immediately drop your weapons, cease your criminal activities, raise your hands, and lie face down on the ground. Any resistance will authorize us to shoot you on sight…"
Dozens of police cars, several armed Helicopters, and more than a hundred heavily armed officers surrounded Gwen and Peter.
An officer holding a loudspeaker began calling out to them.
"Damn it, what do we do now?"
Surrounded by the police, Gwen was frantic.
Although her strength now far surpassed that of an ordinary person, she still could not withstand gunfire.
If there were only a few armed officers, she could rely on her powerful Spider-Sense to dodge their bullets.
But there were nearly a hundred officers around them now, with armed Helicopters providing cover from the air.
Escaping would not be easy at all.
"It’s all that bastard’s fault!"
Knowing that escape might be impossible, Gwen could only slowly raise her hands and prepare to surrender, all while silently cursing Peter in front of her.
"But if I get caught like this, how am I supposed to face Dad?"
At that moment, what she feared most was not being caught by the police, but how she would face her father, who was a captain.
After all, she had heard her father more than once at the dinner table express his hatred for Spider-Woman—herself.
"Officers, don’t you have this wrong? I’m no criminal. I’m a renowned upstanding citizen of Los Santos."
Aside from Gwen, Peter also slowly raised his hands as if surrendering. He gradually bent his knees as though preparing to lie down, speaking to the surrounding officers in an incredibly relaxed tone.
"Where’s Los Santos?"
"No idea. Probably some remote little town."
Naturally, none of the officers knew where Los Santos was.
"I’ll repeat this once more. To avoid unnecessary casualties, immediately raise your hands, lie face down on the ground, and do not resist. Otherwise, we will open fire immediately."
However, seeing that neither of them seemed prepared to resist any longer, the police sent several officers over to restrain them.
The officers slowly approached the two, but their vigilance never wavered, and they kept their guns raised in case anything happened.
"Hehe, sorry, I forgot to tell you—my upstanding citizen rating is five stars!"
When those officers were less than a few meters away, Peter, wearing a black Spider Suit and crouching on the ground with his expression hidden, laughed and slowly spoke again.
"Something’s wrong! All officers, fire immediately! No authorization needed!"
However, Captain George, observing everything from the helicopter, suddenly sensed that something was wrong. He immediately spoke urgently into his radio without hesitation.
At the same time, he shouted at the pilot, "Quick! Gain altitude!"
But in the end, they were still one step too late.
Bang!
A deafening boom like muffled thunder erupted beneath Peter’s feet.
It was as though an anti-tank mine had been buried under him.
The immense force directly sent several officers standing only a few meters away flying.
Even the sturdy street, capable of supporting trucks weighing dozens of tons, was shattered by the tremendous impact, leaving behind a deep pit several meters wide.
Countless cracks spread outward from the deep pit like a spiderweb.
A cloud of dust rose up, obscuring everything within.
Rat-tat-tat… Bang bang bang… Rat-a-tat-tat…
As the sudden accident made the surrounding officers freeze for a moment, Captain George’s warning helped them quickly regain their senses.
Without the slightest hesitation, they unleashed their pistols, rifles, and other weapons into the dust cloud.
Thousands upon thousands of bullets poured out like rain within mere seconds. Even an elephant would probably have been reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.
Yet no screams came from within the dust cloud, as though their bullets had struck nothing but air.
Boom!
Just as they were beginning to doubt themselves, a violent explosion suddenly erupted in the sky, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.
"Oh no, he’s up there!"
Someone had already seen what was happening in the sky.
"Oh, god, how is this possible?!"
Yet the sight before them left everyone present utterly incredulous.
Of the armed Helicopters that had been circling overhead, one had now been completely torn in two, its wreckage falling from the sky.
Even more unbelievable, a figure suddenly burst from one half of the shattered fuselage and charged straight toward the nearest helicopter beside it.
"Can a human really do that?"
Watching an armed helicopter get torn apart in an instant, nearly everyone present was too shocked to speak.
"A perfect chance…"
At the same time, while every officer was too stunned by the scene before them to process it.
Gwen found the best possible opportunity to escape.
"But…"
However, as she looked at the helicopter wreckage destroyed by the person called Venom, falling toward the ground along with the survivors inside screaming endlessly.
Gwen ultimately stopped just as she was about to flee.
The next moment, Webbing shot from her wrist as she rushed into the sky toward the falling helicopter wreckage!
