Hulk: Smash, Smash, Smash!
Captain America: "…"
Black Widow: "…"
Hawkeye: "…"
Why did that sound familiar?
All right, it was time to retreat. Otherwise, if they "accidentally" injured him, there would be nowhere to argue his case.
Though Captain America was young—excluding the more than sixty years he had spent frozen, he was really just a man in his twenties—he had lived through both the most glorious and most tragic eras, seen every facet of human nature, and knew even better how many people had their eyes on him.
According to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s intelligence, there were at least fifty physical-enhancement experiments around the world. At their root, every one of them was related to Dr. Erskine’s Super Soldier Serum from World War II—and to him.
Some of those experiments had achieved decent results, such as General Ross’s laboratory, but they were still lacking and could not compare to Dr. Erskine’s version.
If possible, it was not out of the question that they might "accidentally" injure him, then take the opportunity to bring back some flesh or blood for testing.
To those laboratories, his blood was a true treasure. Perhaps just a single drop could help them uncover the secret of Dr. Erskine’s original formula.
Never underestimate the darkness of the human heart!
Wait…
Before I woke up, I stayed with Director Wang for so long.
He didn’t have someone draw my blood too, did he?
Captain America turned and ran, withdrawing under Hawkeye and Black Widow’s cover.
Hulk was furious.
That little runt, who had no merits beyond a big chest and a big butt, had actually held him off for several minutes. Did she really think they were evenly matched?
She had used him to gain attention and glory, and now she wanted to run? How could there be such a good deal in the world?
Hey, you! Stop right there! Let’s fight another three hundred rounds!
Completely ignoring Black Widow’s bullets and Hawkeye’s arrows, Hulk chased after Captain America.
His legs did not seem to be moving very quickly, yet every stride covered several meters, sometimes even over ten. Then, with a hurdle-like leap, he instantly jumped several hundred meters away and landed squarely in front of Captain America.
Captain America’s teeth ached. He made an abrupt stop, turned around, and kept running.
Buddy, there are so many people in the sky. Why are you fixated on me?
Don’t tell me you’re obsessed with me just because my ass is perky. The one in the Quinjet has an even perkier one!
Captain America’s full-speed sprint far surpassed that of an Olympic Games sprint champion. At his explosive limit, he could exceed thirty meters per second.
But before Hulk, that was nothing.
Theoretically, this guy possessed planet-level jumping ability. Even in his normal state without an anger boost, he could easily leap several hundred meters, bounding up and down between skyscrapers.
Speed was definitely out of the question. Captain America could only rely on technique.
This was a little forest!
As one of the greatest combat masters in the world, the more complicated the environment, the better Captain America could display his strength.
At the sight of that little forest, Captain America reacted as if he had seen Bucky and immediately darted inside.
Hulk was really just a little brat who had barely turned five. His thinking was simple:
If you dare run, I dare chase!
Relying on his agility, Captain America dodged and weaved. Seeing Hulk charge at him, he quickly ducked behind a large tree, then continued running.
Hulk was far less agile than Captain America, and once he burst into motion, he was simply too fast to brake. He crashed directly into the tree.
With the dense cover, the people on the grass outside could not see what was happening in the little forest.
They could only see one large tree after another snap and fall.
At that rate of tree-felling, he was faster than a hundred Strong Balds.
The man who had hurried over to embrace Betty’s current boyfriend suddenly felt fortunate. It seemed that nothing had really happened between Hulk and Betty.
Otherwise, with such an intense close-quarters battle, even Captain America could not take it, much less Betty.
One careless move, and her whole body would be torn apart!
"Support!"
"What are you standing around for? Iron Soldiers, go provide support!"
Seeing that the Iron Soldiers had not moved, General Ross hurriedly gave the order.
"…Yes!"
A little forest was not actually suitable terrain for Iron Soldiers.
Their bodies were not small, and they were not real humans. Their agility was naturally lacking.
But that was fine.
This was Azeroth No. 3, made from extremely precious Gold-Titanium Alloy. Its entire body was basically one enormous lump of gold, so its durability was fairly good. It was not afraid of a few scratches and bumps—
Azeroth Industries had reportedly promised a three-guarantee policy and complimentary full-body paintwork. Commodore Talbot had even personally stepped in and shamelessly secured up to three mid-tier maintenance services per year for one year.
Looking back on it now, that really was not enough.
General, you should have demanded "three-year warranty, one-year replacement guarantee, lifetime quality assurance" at the very least!
The general had given the order, and soldiers could only obey, even if the order was not particularly wise.
Five Azeroth No. 3 Air Force Soldiers flew over the little forest and began providing fire support.
Especially with the all-important "Ex-Wife" micro-missiles.
They waited for an opening.
Now!
Fire!
These absurdly expensive high-tech missiles looked only palm-length and thumb-thick, but they were terrifyingly costly. Even the Air Force could not afford to use many of them or buy too many. Of course, the main reason was that Iron Soldiers had limited internal space and could not carry many.
Each launcher could fire only one missile at a time. Every Iron Soldier carried three, with automatic reloading.
Five "Ex-Wife" missiles struck Hulk.
Three misfired!
The other two exploded instantly. Their terrifying penetrating force and impact left pale green marks on Hulk’s skin.
And this was already the greatest result the Air Force had achieved in five years of pursuit operations!
That was right.
Over five whole years, General Ross had not obtained even a single drop of Hulk’s blood. It was as pitiful as it could get.
"%&¥%…&*"
Inside the Quinjet, Black Widow spat out a long string of incomprehensible words.
What kind of joke was this?!
S.H.I.E.L.D. had ordered ten of these Iron Soldiers, and two had already been delivered. They had carried out three missions during this period, with quite good results.
Although "Ex-Wife" missiles had a certain chance of misfiring, it was no more than thirty percent.
Three out of five had turned into dead wives. General Ross, I deeply suspect your status is extraordinarily noble and that non-chief blood runs through your veins…
Most importantly…
"Ex-Wife" was indeed extremely powerful, far exceeding other missiles of the same size, yet it had not even broken Hulk’s skin.
How the hell were they supposed to fight this?
It was not that the Iron Soldiers were weak. These were Gundams.
The problem was that the enemy had Godzilla!
"Hmph!"
Hulk suddenly stopped chasing.
He was somewhat childish and had a temper, but he was not stupid.
That perky-butted little runt was harder to catch than a rabbit. Better to take out those metal lumps overhead first!
Hulk fought like a child in a brawl: if he was not jumping, he was smashing; if he could not smash something, he picked something up and smashed it.
In order to aim and fight more effectively, the Iron Soldiers remained exactly five hundred meters above the little forest—
Any higher would not work.
Most of their weapons had an effective range of less than five hundred meters. Once they climbed too high, it would be difficult to guarantee accuracy, and the powerful recoil would also affect it.
That was the weakness of Iron Soldiers.
A Quinjet could easily carry weapons with greater range and power, but Iron Soldiers were limited by their size and weight. Even if they barely carried such weapons, there would be little point.
This was Earth.
In a real interstellar war, no one would use such flashy but impractical Iron Soldiers. Star carriers and interstellar fighters were what truly mattered.
The aerial environment was too complicated. Affected by wind speed, angles, and all sorts of factors, even computers could not instantly calculate the optimal attack angle. On top of that, Hulk was too fast, and…
This guy was not a trained warrior at all. He had no combat techniques. He did whatever he wanted, jumped whenever he wanted, and smashed whenever he wanted.
With an attack style so close to chaos, Hulk himself probably did not know what he wanted to do the next second. How the hell was a computer supposed to calculate that?!
To most people, five hundred meters could already be considered absolutely safe. With an Iron Soldier’s instantaneous acceleration and reaction speed, it could evade even heavy machine-gun fire from the ground.
But for Hulk, it was clearly not enough.
