Impure World Reincarnation: Ryuma the Dragon-Slaying Swordsman
"Fused with the Soul-Soul Fruit, the Hollow-Hollow Fruit, and the Revive-Revive Fruit, this Devil Fruit could perhaps be called the King of Hell Fruit."
Looking at the enhanced fruit in his hand, Yota smiled. "What am I thinking? Isn’t it just a Soul-Soul Fruit? After eating it, do I really want to become the King of Hell?"
"I wonder if I’ll ever travel to one of those mythological worlds in the future… Forget it. Before I’m strong enough, I’d better stay away from those high-risk worlds."
Even in classical mythological worlds, those immortals and gods were beings capable of divination and boundless magic. In Huanzhulouzhu’s Chronicles of the Shu Mountains alone, if Yota went in, whether he could make it back alive would depend on luck.
After all, practically any somewhat powerful character in that world could calculate the so-called will of heaven. Yota had no desire to be killed as an Extraterrestrial Demon.
As for the fantasy and xianxia worlds that emerged after web novels took off, they were even more of a chaotic mess. Web novels did not need special effects, so naturally their authors could exaggerate as much as they pleased.
Planets shattering was small potatoes, and the destruction of universes happened from time to time. The whole setting was like a set of nesting boxes, each layer more powerful than the last, until even a multiverse could barely contain it.
There were even more terrifying ones, like Lord of the Mysteries, where time and causality could be reversed. A transmigrator entering that world would not have the slightest privacy. Lord of Mysteries was even worse—the knowledge and intelligence in that world were poisonous! The more you knew, the faster you died. With a cheat as weak as Yota’s, he would probably be dead the moment he arrived.
That was also why Yota became far more cautious about traveling between worlds afterward.
Yota bit into the Soul-Soul Fruit in his hand. He had long since replaced his Azure Dragon Fruit, so within moments, he could feel his soul undergoing some strange changes. Most notably, his Yin Release Chakra, once at an absolute disadvantage, suddenly surged by an unknown amount.
"Time for a test," Yota said as he looked at the corpse of Ryuma the Dragon-Slaying Swordsman before him. He took out a prepared spore and poured a massive amount of Chakra into it. Soon, a White Zetsu grew from it.
However, although this White Zetsu had already taken shape, it did not move at all. Yota could only sense vigorous life force from its body, not the slightest mental fluctuation.
Yota’s expression did not change. This seemed to be a side effect caused by traveling between worlds. He had previously experimented on animals. Many living animals, after traveling through worlds, eventually lost all consciousness and became empty shells.
Of course, some animals remained unchanged and lived perfectly well. But Yota had yet to discover the reason for this, which was why he had never dared to bring people along when traveling between worlds.
Still, what he needed in the first place was an empty fleshly shell. As long as it possessed vitality, that was enough. Having no mental power actually made things simpler.
Forming hand seals with both hands, Yota called out softly, "Impure World Reincarnation!"
Back when he was in the Pirate World, reaching this stage would not have caused the slightest fluctuation in the Chakra within him. Yet now, he could feel some Chakra vanish in an instant, while the Soul-Soul Fruit he had just eaten also emitted strange ripples.
The two powers fused together and entered the White Zetsu’s body. Strange ashes, like scraps of paper, adhered themselves to White Zetsu’s body layer by layer. In the end, they revealed a valiant and heroic face—it was none other than Ryuma the Dragon-Slaying Swordsman!
Opening his eyes, the Dragon-Slaying Swordsman looked around. "Huh? Wasn’t I already dead? What’s going on?"
Yota let out a relieved breath, then burst into laughter, leaving the newly risen Ryuma with a baffled expression.
"So I really am dead," Ryuma sighed, looking helpless.
"To think that someone could pull me back after death. What an interesting experience."
Beside him, Yota examined him from head to toe before asking, "How much of your combat strength do you still have?"
"Combat strength? Far less than when I was alive." Ryuma waved an arm. "This body’s physical condition does not seem very good. It might only have half the strength I had in life. I can still use seventy or eighty percent of my Haki, and my swordsmanship has not been affected much."
"But if the foundation is weak, everything else is meaningless. If the body does not meet the standard, the rest is all empty talk."
Yota nodded slightly. In the One Piece World, even so-called swordsmen had extremely high requirements for physical strength. Just looking at how Zoro trained his sword swings with barbells every day made the physical power of these swordsmen clear.
There were admittedly mysterious swordsmanship realms such as the Breath of All Things, but when all was said and done, they were nothing extraordinary.
Back in the first half of the Grand Line, Zoro had already comprehended the Breath of All Things and was said to be able to cut through gold and iron. Yet if he had encountered Kaido then, even if Kaido stood still and let him slash away, Zoro probably could have done no more than trim Kaido’s calluses.
What could brutes like Kaido or Charlotte Linlin possibly comprehend? Did they not rely on their flesh alone to block swordsmen’s attacks?
Thus, the attack power of those Sword Masters ultimately still came down to physical attributes. At most, a more skilled swordsman could gain some advantage against someone with the same physical strength.
Ryuma’s physical condition had been cut in half, but that did not mean his combat strength had merely been cut in half. The Dragon-Slaying Sword Master Ryuma of old had forged a black blade, so he must have been an Emperor-level powerhouse. With his physical strength halved, any Emperor Vice-Captain could probably suppress him.
Moreover, Yota discovered another flaw in the Impure World Reincarnation in the Pirate World: its recovery ability was far weaker.
Perhaps because it lacked Chakra, although an Impure World body was still immortal and indestructible, once it was shattered, it often took one or two hours to recover.
The defensive power of an Impure World body was also far inferior to what it had been in life. Without using Armament Haki for protection, its physical toughness was roughly that of an ordinary person.
Under such circumstances, a master like Ryuma could at most deal with Elite Vice Admirals of the Navy, or ordinary Great Elites of a Four Emperors Crew.
The only advantage was that an Impure World body’s stamina was inexhaustible, never running out, just like the infinite Chakra of the Naruto World.
But powerhouses in the Naruto World had always had very short mana bars, so infinite Chakra was naturally a huge advantage. As for the strong fighters of the Pirate World, Yota had never heard of many with poor stamina. Any random Vice Admiral could fight for three days and three nights. This so-called infinite stamina was merely better than nothing.
After thoroughly testing Ryuma’s Impure World body, Yota could only sigh that nothing in the world was perfect.
The sole benefit was that this world had no Sealing Jutsu, so the immortality and indestructibility of an Impure World body was still quite intimidating.
