#315
Injustice Superman
"So, the ultimate goal of your plan is to resurrect this Beckett, right?"
Kansas, United States. A small border town.
After returning to his home with Mera and Diana, Arthur Curry stood by the window, gazing in the direction of Gotham.
"That’s right." Mera nodded.
"I understand."
"But I have a question."
"Are you sure that man will be able to defeat Darkseid after he’s resurrected?"
"We both saw what happened before. Even Beckett and Superman together were no match for Darkseid." Arthur Curry’s voice was calm as he stated an established fact.
Was the Mother Box’s enhancement really that powerful?
Could it make Beckett strong enough to defeat Darkseid?
It wasn’t that Arthur Curry didn’t believe them. The idea was simply too insane.
"…To be honest, I don’t know." After countless words flashed through her mind, Mera shook her head and ultimately chose to tell the truth.
Darkseid’s strength had far exceeded Mera’s expectations. He had even forced the ever-proud Beckett into faking his death.
"But I believe in him." Mera tightened her grip on the Golden Trident, a striking smile appearing at the corner of her lips.
"I believe in him, so I’m willing to bet all our hope on him."
"Just as he bet his hope of resurrection on me."
Arthur Curry: "…"
"More importantly, resurrecting Beckett is our only option right now." Diana, who had been watching Arthur Curry, took over.
Superman Clark was truly dead. If they resurrected him too, and Darkseid killed Lois Lane, who would be left to wake him up?
Beckett was different. He had only faked his death.
His consciousness hadn’t vanished like Clark’s. Once resurrected by the Mother Box, he wouldn’t go on some nonsensical rampage.
"This world has already fallen into Darkseid’s hands. We have no other choice, do we?"
"Although I don’t think much of that man, you have a point."
"We have no other choice." Arthur Curry leaned against the window railing, his gaze falling upon the humans in the city, all of them shrouded in fear and despair…
Three days later, Gotham.
The city once renowned across the world as the crime capital had long since become the Apocalypse Legion’s temporary headquarters on Earth.
Steppenwolf, wielding a massive axe, was stationed there, standing proudly amidst the ruins as he waited for his prey to come to him.
The great Lord of Apokolips, Darkseid, had said that the people of Earth would make one final struggle.
Whether it was the Amazons or the sea people, neither would stand by and do nothing. Steppenwolf’s task was to stop that trash for Darkseid.
"The current heir of Atlantis isn’t powerful enough. Even with the Golden Trident’s shield drawing upon this planet’s own power, it can only last for three days at most."
"So, after three days, kill them."
That was the order Darkseid had left behind before disappearing, and Steppenwolf had followed it all along. Today happened to be the third day.
Crack…
A faint sound reached him. Steppenwolf followed it with his eyes, and an utterly unfamiliar figure came into view—a scruffy man in standard black sea-people armor, holding a bloodstained silver trident.
His killing intent was overwhelming.
"Who are you?"
Seeing that the newcomer was not Diana but some obscure, disheveled man, Steppenwolf frowned and asked.
"The one who’ll kill you."
Arthur Curry sneered. Without the slightest hesitation, he swung his trident and charged at Steppenwolf.
This was his mission: to divert Steppenwolf’s attention.
Clang!
The instant the axe blade met the trident’s tip, blinding sparks erupted.
An overwhelming force that Arthur Curry could not resist instantly sent him flying into the ruins!
Boom!!!
Dust scattered everywhere!
"Ugh…"
Arthur Curry shook his head and emerged from the rubble, filthy and disheveled. "Is that all you’ve got, Steppenwolf?"
"What?"
"If that’s all you’ve got, then it’s my turn."
Arthur Curry stomped hard on the ground, shooting toward the puzzled Steppenwolf like an arrow released from its bow.
"You?"
Though he had no idea what the man before him was plotting, it didn’t stop Steppenwolf from casually finishing him off.
Arthur Curry, as he was now, was simply no threat to Steppenwolf.
The combat buff from his wife was gone, and the weapon that should have been his now belonged to someone else.
Facing Steppenwolf in a set of basic gear, he should theoretically have had no fate but a one-sided beating.
"It’s over, sea man."
Without dodging or retreating, Steppenwolf swung his massive axe directly at Arthur Curry!
Whoosh!
Smack!
A button-sized little robot wobbled as it shook the dust from its body, then hopped onto Steppenwolf’s toe.
"???" Steppenwolf, whose attention had been completely drawn to Arthur Curry, had not noticed such a tiny thing approaching beneath his feet.
A powerful current burst forth in an instant. Steppenwolf’s eyes bulged as the power within his body immediately fell into disarray!
Splat!
The steel trident pierced his body, and blood sprayed everywhere!
Arthur Curry seized the opportunity and directly smashed Steppenwolf’s heart!
"Don’t underestimate Earthlings’ ingenuity, outsider."
"Don’t forget, you left an arm behind on Earth."
With a sneer, Arthur Curry pulled out his trident, took out one of the legacies Bruce Wayne had left behind before his death, and began spraying Steppenwolf’s corpse with gunfire…
"Is that so?"
Arthur Curry was firing away happily when a tremendous terror suddenly surged into his heart!
He wanted to move. He wanted to dodge. But to his horror, he discovered that his limbs were no longer under his control…
Boom!!!!
An Omega Beam descending from the heavens instantly engulfed Arthur Curry’s body!!!!
"Now!!!!"
Diana, who had been hiding for a long time, hurled her shield toward Arthur’s position and burst from the ground!
Empowered by divine strength, her sharp sword stabbed toward Darkseid, who had emerged from the void!
"Your opponent isn’t me."
Darkseid sat upon his throne in the void and chuckled, lightly waving a finger.
Upon the bronze gate, one of the corpses that should have been dead suddenly raised his head. Two Heat Vision beams shot from his gray eyes and brushed past Diana…
"??????!!!!!!!"
"Clark?!!!"
The sudden turn of events nearly made everyone’s eyes pop out.
"What did you think I hung their corpses here for?"
Darkseid sat upon his throne, quietly admiring the results of his transformation.
"When righteous Superman falls into darkness, he will become a god in your world that no one can rival."
Darkseid’s figure slowly faded away, and Clark upon the bronze gate immediately regained his freedom…
"Clark…?"
"No! Clark!!!!"
P.S.: Old Zhou asked me to add this at the end: He got drunk today, so there’s only one chapter.
That bumpkin got drunk tonight and still made me pay the bill. Damn it!
Also, I was wondering what this guy was doing every afternoon, clacking away at his keyboard like crazy instead of even having afternoon tea. Turns out he really was writing a novel.
And by the way, this title is seriously killing me, hahaha.
Now I can be his dad, hahaha. If he doesn’t want this secret exposed, he’d better obediently become my son, hahaha!!!
I was just thinking about what to get this bumpkin for his birthday in a couple months. Looks like I can buy him two Infinity Stones on Taobao, hahaha.
I can’t, I can’t. This is seriously going to make me laugh to death, hahaha.
