#314
The Clearly Divided “Beckett Rescue Plan”
"Unbelievable."
"My body… my body really recovered?"
Undersea world, Kingdom of Zebel, side hall.
When Mera poured the last vial of Nutrient Fluid Beckett had left behind into the severely injured Barry Allen, a miracle occurred.
Just as Woz had calculated beforehand, this medicine from another universe did not cause any adverse reaction in Barry Allen’s body.
Its effects became apparent within mere minutes, making Barry Allen, who had never seen anything like this before, cry out in astonishment.
Injuries that should have kept him bedridden for three to five years rapidly healed under the effects of the Nutrient Fluid. Before long, Barry Allen was able to walk normally again.
"No, to be precise, not entirely."
"The Nutrient Fluid only prioritizes treating the most serious injuries in your body, ensuring that your body will not collapse during the recovery process."
"According to Woz’s calculations, given your physique, Mr. Allen, it should still take three hours for you to fully recover." Woz projected a character model of Barry Allen.
It had created it earlier after scanning Barry Allen in order to analyze the data.
"Incredible."
Having followed Bruce Wayne for so long, Alfred had never seen such a miraculous medicine.
Not just him—even Diana, who had witnessed many miracles on Paradise Island, found it astonishing.
One could imagine the immense shock caused by the vial of Nutrient Fluid Beckett had left behind.
Barry Allen’s previously dying appearance stood in stark contrast to his current vitality.
"Three hours?"
"No problem. That’s completely acceptable."
The optimistic Barry Allen twisted his waist and stretched his limbs before turning his gaze toward Mera on the other side. "Then, what do I need to do in your plan?"
Mera had already told Barry Allen about Beckett’s plan to gamble with his life. Whether out of emotion or reason, he had no reason to shirk responsibility.
"Just like when you revived Superman before, Barry. Run."
"Your speed, and the electricity generated by that speed—that is the key to activating the Mother Box."
"So, Barry, I need you to run."
As the only Speed Force user left in the world, Barry Allen’s unmatched speed was precisely what Mera needed right now.
"No problem. I’m good at that, and I have experience."
Barry Allen shrugged, indicating that there was no issue at all.
The first time was unfamiliar, the second time came naturally. If he had been nervous due to inexperience when reviving Superman before, then now, he had clearly lost that unease born from the unknown.
Wasn’t it just running? Easy.
"No. In fact, you have no experience."
As the architect of the "Beckett Revival Plan," Woz personally stepped forward and immediately placed a hat called pressure on Barry Allen’s head.
"According to the data simulated by Bruce Wayne, you encountered no interference when reviving Superman. You had an extremely favorable environment."
"But things are different now."
"You must ensure that you are fast enough to activate the Mother Box on that ancient bronze door before Darkseid notices you."
"In other words, you are still not fast enough, Barry Allen."
The astronomical figures Woz simulated through the model silenced everyone present, and the optimism on Barry Allen’s face vanished with it.
A trace of doubt even rose in the Speed Force user’s heart: Were those really figures he could possibly run?
"Listen, we don’t have much time. Ms. Mera’s power can only hold out for three days. After three days, both land and sea will fall entirely into Darkseid’s hands."
"Barry Allen, I will oversee your training over the next three days and strive to get you to this value."
"Ms. Diana, your task is to recover as much of your demigod power as possible, then strengthen it. In three days, you will be the primary candidate to draw Darkseid’s attention."
"Mr. Alfred and I will try to crack the Kryptonian spaceship’s operating system. Once we succeed, I will fly the Kryptonian spaceship over to support you."
Woz’s division of duties was clear and reasonable.
Darkseid was an obstacle their plan could not avoid, and among their group, the only one capable of diverting Darkseid’s attention was Diana, the demigod.
"Wait, Woz. I think Diana may have another helper."
After Woz mentioned Diana’s demigod identity, Mera suddenly thought of someone.
"Who?"
"Arthur Curry, eldest son of Atlanna, the current Queen of Atlantis."
"F**k!!!"
"Everyone, get in the car! Now!"
Outside a border town in Kansas, United States.
A burly man with his upper body bare wielded a harpoon, continuously stabbing Apocalypse soldiers. His messy stubble and hair drifted in the seawater.
"Cackle!"
"Cackle, cackle!!!"
The piercing, unpleasant shrieks made everyone cover their ears. The fear growing in their hearts became paradise for the Parademons’ delight.
"Everyone, hold on!"
"We’re almost through the water barrier!"
"Once we get past the water barrier, we’ll be safe!"
The panting burly man stood atop the pickup truck. While constantly working his harpoon, his mouth did not stop moving either.
The trembling crowd huddled in the old pickup truck. Some had faces filled with fear of life itself, while others had already become numb with despair.
Along the way, they had witnessed too many partings of life and death. They had also seen with their own eyes what cities without the protection of the water barriers had become.
Blood flowed like rivers. It was a living hell.
The soaring Parademons constantly fed on the fear in human hearts and drank the blood from human bodies.
"It’s useless…"
"Even Superman is dead. That monster killed him."
"Earth can’t be saved anymore…"
"Who knows how long this water barrier can hold?"
Despondent emotions passed through every person. Seeing it all, the burly man opened his mouth, yet for a moment, he did not know what to say.
To be honest, he could not see any hope for humanity’s salvation either.
The earlier live broadcast had let people across the entire world witness Superman being killed by Darkseid in a single blow.
The blond, blue-eyed man who had fought Superman on equal footing had also been pierced through the chest.
What did that mean?
"We can’t win. Just like that monster said, humanity is going to be destroyed…"
Having finally driven into the city within the water barrier, the humans huddled in the pickup climbed down like walking corpses. As far as the eye could see, there was only deathly gloom, not the slightest trace of vitality.
The government’s steel flood was as flimsy as a paper defense, collapsing at the first touch. The nuclear weapons said to be capable of wiping the surface clean had somehow disappeared without a sound.
In just a few short hours, the entire world had become a paradise for apocalyptic "zombies."
Too many people, driven by despair, chose to indulge themselves and vent the ugliness hidden deep within their hearts.
Murder, brawls, rape, and more.
With no zombies appearing, some despairing humans chose to become "zombies" themselves.
"Arthur Curry, we found you."
The burly man, who had chosen to drink at a bar due to his foul mood, encountered two women.
"Mera?"
"We need you. We need you to join us and defeat Darkseid."
Mera, who had come to recruit him, got straight to the point. Diana, beside her, said nothing and merely observed Arthur Curry, the man who was about to become her teammate.
"What?"
"I’m serious. I swear it in the name of the Queen of the Sea."
The Golden Trident was Mera’s most effective tool for persuading Arthur Curry.
And indeed, it was.
"I agree."
Arthur Curry chose to join without hesitation.
"I’ve had enough of this atmosphere."
Sleepy…
So sleepy that I can’t stop yawning…
The second update was a little late, but it’s here.
There won’t be an extra update today. I’m too sleepy to keep writing…
