Leading the Army into Battle, Three Thousand Demon Lions
Ninety percent of the border city’s civilians had gradually left. Not all of them had gone; many had remained behind. Only after Su Yu looked into it did he learn that these were the families of celestial soldiers. With no one to rely on but their children and fathers, they could only stay in the great border city.
Military Camp
Su Yu gathered the hundred thousand celestial soldiers. The central parade ground was vast enough to accommodate them all below, while Su Yu stood atop the platform and looked down at the crowd.
The celestial soldiers all wore white armor, turning the area below into a sea of white. Su Yu spoke, "Everyone, I am Su Yu, your new general. I do not know how many years it has been since the great border city last went out to kill its enemies, but next time—when the Demon Clan attacks again—you must all follow me out to defend against them!"
"What? Isn’t that just sending us to our deaths? We’re not going."
"Exactly! The Demon Clan has an army of a million, while we only have a hundred thousand. How the hell are we supposed to fight that?"
"I’m not going. I absolutely refuse to go! Even if you kill me, I’m not going!"
Su Yu watched the commotion below as everyone grew restless. He instantly unleashed the aura of a Great Luo Golden Immortal, then shouted, "Quiet!"
The celestial soldiers below were immediately frightened into silence, each standing properly.
"When foreign enemies invade our Immortal Realm, all you think about is running away! Do you deserve to be celestial soldiers? Perhaps some of you think they cannot break in anyway, but the barrier will be breached sooner or later. When that happens, you will be meat on their chopping block, slaughtered at their whim!" Su Yu said gravely as he looked at them.
Su Yu truly felt sorrow for the Immortal Realm. The ones guarding it were actually such a bunch of cowards. If this had been Huaxia, where Su Yu came from, it definitely would not have been like this.
The celestial soldiers below all fell silent. They were afraid of death—who was not? With such a vast disparity in strength, how could they possibly not be afraid?
"Report! General, the Demon Clan has attacked! They are truly assaulting our city walls!" Just as everyone fell silent, Cang Nan rushed onto the parade ground and shouted.
Su Yu slapped the railing. "Good! Cang Nan, go find out how many enemies there are and how many Great Luo realm experts they have."
"Yes!" Cang Nan clasped his fists, then immediately turned and ran off.
Su Yu shouted, "All soldiers, heed my command! Follow me out of the city to face the enemy! I will stand at the front!"
With that, Su Yu stepped down from the platform. The Silver Dragon Battle Armor appeared on his body, and he strode toward the Supreme Polarity Gate. The celestial soldiers and the ninety-nine Great Luo Heavenly Immortals followed helplessly behind him.
When they arrived at the City Gate, Cang Nan came over and said to Su Yu, "General, only five thousand demon soldiers and three thousand Magical Beasts have come this time. There are ten Great Luo Heavenly Immortals and one Great Luo True Immortal."
Su Yu fell silent. "Is the Demon Clan really this arrogant? They sent so few people?"
Cang Nan gave a bitter smile. "General, you do not know. The Demon Clan has always sent only this many people each time, but we have never gone out to fight…"
Su Yu sneered disdainfully. "What a bunch of trash!" Then he looked at the hundred-thousand-strong army behind him and shouted, "You all heard that, right? There are only this many Demon Clan members outside. Do not tell me you cannot beat them!"
Su Yu looked at Cang Nan. "Open the City Gate! Cang Nan, stay behind and leave one hundred celestial soldiers with you. Everyone else will follow me out to face the enemy!"
The moment Su Yu finished speaking, Cang Nan immediately called out one hundred celestial soldiers to open the gate. The City Gate soon swung open, and the Demon Clan outside halted their attack.
The Demon Clan had only two reasons for attacking the great border city at intervals: one was to slowly wear down the barrier, and the other was to humiliate the immortals at the border. They had not expected the Supreme Polarity Gate to actually open this time.
Seeing the countless celestial soldiers within the gate, the Demon Clan’s Great Luo True Immortal sneered. "What? You immortals have finally stopped hiding like turtles? You want to come out and fight our Demon Clan? Too bad it is useless. Do not be fooled by our small numbers—we are all elites capable of taking on a hundred!"
Su Yu led the entire hundred-thousand-strong army onto the battlefield, and the Supreme Polarity Gate closed behind them. Looking at the Great Luo True Immortal who had just spoken, Su Yu sneered disdainfully. "I refuse to believe that we cannot win with a tenfold advantage in numbers!"
The Demon Clan’s Great Luo True Immortal revealed a savage smile. "Is that so? Demon Lions, heed my command! All of you, use Law Manifestation of Heaven and Earth!"
Su Yu froze for a moment. Then he saw the three thousand Magical Beasts—all of them lions in appearance. After roaring, the three thousand Demon Lions began to grow larger.
Su Yu’s expression turned grave. Pinching his fingers in calculation, he said, "So these are the Demon Clan’s Magical Beasts? Because they can remain beasts for their entire lives, they are exceptionally gifted. Once they reach adulthood, they can use Law Manifestation of Heaven and Earth!"
A Great Luo Heavenly Immortal swallowed, his voice trembling. "General, we should run! We cannot win! There are three thousand Demon Lions here capable of using Law Manifestation of Heaven and Earth…"
"Shut up! If you disrupt morale again, I will execute you without mercy!" Su Yu glared coldly at the speaker.
The Great Luo True Immortal on the other side burst into laughter. "Hahaha! That fellow just now had some self-awareness, did he not? But sadly, you have met a foolish general… so all of you can die! Demon Lions, crush them!"
Roar—
All the Demon Lions roared and charged toward the immortals. As the three thousand Demon Lions using Law Manifestation of Heaven and Earth began to run, the entire ground shook. One celestial soldier was so terrified that he threw away his spear and shouted, "No! I don’t want to die!"
As he shouted, the man immediately ran toward the Supreme Polarity Gate, yelling as he ran, "Open the gate! Open it, quickly!"
With one person taking the lead, most of them began fleeing in panic, casting aside their armor and weapons. In the end, only several thousand remained. Seeing this, Su Yu felt truly desolate. As though they understood his feelings, one person shouted, "General, let us face the enemy! How can our Immortal Realm allow these scum to violate it!"
"We, the Su Army, are willing to die on the battlefield for the Immortal Realm!" those people shouted. Since their general was Su Yu, the hundred thousand troops at the border had become the Su Army.
Everyone charged forward together. Seeing this, Su Yu smiled slightly. Some people’s fighting spirit had not yet been erased after all.
"Kill!" Su Yu followed the several thousand celestial soldiers and charged forward after shouting. The remaining celestial soldiers quickly fled back into the border city, while the ninety-nine Great Luo Heavenly Immortals immediately went to close the gate.
Cang Nan shouted, "What are you doing?! The general and so many brothers are still outside!"
Wang Qiang sneered. "They chose to seek death themselves. Do not drag us down with them. Do you not know that the City Gate cannot be left open carelessly?"
"You!" Cang Nan pointed angrily at Wang Qiang.
Wang Qiang curled his lip disdainfully. "What about me? Cang Nan, if not for the fact that we are colleagues, you might already have gone down to the Nine Nether Yellow Springs!"
In truth, Wang Qiang and the others simply did not dare to kill Cang Nan themselves. After all, killing a Celestial Official was a grave crime.
