Legendary Hero, Kyle

The main hall of S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters was deathly silent.

Only the hair, muscles, and bones scraping against the floor produced bone-chilling rustling sounds, accompanied by the dripping of blood flowing down the stairs.

The agents present had gone pale. Some were too shocked to speak at all, while several researchers immediately bent over and vomited uncontrollably.

How could the scene before them be described? Even calling it a massacre seemed too mild.

Over a hundred corpses, not yet fully stiffened, had been strung and bound together by tentacles like chickens and ducks, dragged all the way from the thirty-sixth floor down to the ground floor.

Blood washed through S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, dyeing the entire building crimson and filling it with a nauseating stench that churned their stomachs.

No matter the reason, this was an utterly inhumane slaughter. If footage of it were released, it would undoubtedly cause enormous panic throughout civilized society!

What was more, the one responsible was a legendary hero—the Symbol of Peace, promoted as a defender and lover of peace! One misstep, and Kyle could be utterly disgraced by this battle, branded as a heartless butcher!

Kyle had naturally considered that, but he did not care.

S.H.I.E.L.D. agents? So what if he killed them! He owed no one an explanation!

"Where is Alexander Pierce?"

Still not returned to his original form from Venom’s full-body coverage, Kyle bared his grotesque maw and exhaled hot breath as he asked coldly.

An agent acting as the representative shuddered and quickly replied, "After the Director hurried down from upstairs, he issued a wanted order and left by helicopter. He said he was personally going aboard the Helicarrier to complete Project Insight."

"Fine. I’ll go kill him now." Kyle spoke in a low voice, heedless of anyone’s feelings as he twitched and withdrew his blood-soaked black tentacles, leaving behind a heap of shattered bodies bearing fatal wounds.

"Oh, right. From now on, Alexander Pierce is no longer the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. And there must still be Hydra spies among you. From this moment onward, no one is allowed to leave headquarters."

As he walked outside, Kyle threw out one final sentence. Broad black wings patterned with scales unfurled from his back.

He crouched slightly, his legs tensing like compressed springs, then launched himself more than twenty meters into the air.

Upon reaching the highest point, Kyle swept his wings backward. A hurricane exploded into existence in the air, and his towering body became a streak of black light. Rings of white shockwaves appeared where he had stood as he shot toward the Helicarriers at supersonic speed.

Only after Kyle left did the Fog of Fear enveloping S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters finally disperse. Countless people on the first floor let out long breaths, still shaken as they stared at the pile of corpses in the middle of the main hall.

"Was that killing monster really the Symbol of Peace?" Someone’s trembling voice asked the question.

The agents collectively fell silent. That was undoubtedly the Symbol of Peace, but who would dare pin this inhumane slaughter on the legendary hero?

Wasn’t that a complete collapse of his image…?

"There is no need to question it. That was Kyle, the Symbol of Peace—the hero who stopped Hydra and hastened the end of World War II!" A weak yet steady voice suddenly rang out from the building entrance.

Everyone followed the voice and saw a female agent pushing a metal wheelchair into the hall.

Reclining in the wheelchair was a bald, middle-aged Black man covered in bandages. His fierce, dark face carried an imposing authority even without anger.

"F-former Director! Mr. Nick Fury."

The agents were overjoyed and hurriedly bowed in unison. "Greetings, former Director!"

"Enough. This farce should end."

Fury swept his single eye across the wrecked hall. Looking at the gruesomely mangled corpses, he sighed. "I can testify that Project Insight is a conspiracy that would bring catastrophe upon humanity. Alexander Pierce is a Hydra spy. Captain Steve and Deputy Director Natasha are innocent, and more than half of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been infiltrated by Hydra spies."

As soon as he finished speaking, the horrified agents instinctively placed their hands on their gun holsters, warily guarding against the agents beside them.

"But even so, Hero Kyle’s actions were too…" A researcher slumped on the ground, having vomited up even bile. Despite knowing the truth, he still found it difficult to accept the brutal slaughter that had begun before anyone’s identity was verified.

"Whether you accept it or not, that is simply how Kyle operates—fighting violence with violence."

Fury shook his head and said, "How do you think he earned the title Symbol of Peace? By reasoning with enemies or talking to them about laws? That legendary throne was built upon piles of corpses!"

That was precisely why he had always hesitated, the greatest reason he had not wanted Kyle to resolve S.H.I.E.L.D.’s internal conflict himself.

Fury understood Kyle extremely well.

Kyle had no reservations. As long as someone stood against him, no matter whether their identity was good or evil, they would meet their final destruction.

His killing intent was pure. He rarely killed on impulse, just as one cleanly pulled open a soda can’s tab simply because one wanted to drink what was inside.

He was the one least burdened by the mantle of a hero. He did whatever he wanted, never caring about the opinions of others or the public. From beginning to end, he had never considered himself some so-called Symbol of Peace.

Laws, morality, humanity, and the like—he had never considered them, nor did he need to. He would only firmly do what he believed was right.

That was Kyle, the lawless legendary hero.

The hall once again fell silent, and a trace of understanding appeared in some agents’ eyes.

The level Kyle stood at could no longer be considered that of a superhero.

He was more like an emotionless god. When faced with what he deemed wrong on Earth, he would erase and correct it all at once, leaving many unable to accept such excessively cruel methods.

"Everything that happened at S.H.I.E.L.D. today is to be classified as top secret. No one is allowed to leak anything. All recordings from every floor today are to be deleted from the source code and formatted!"

Fury said with a cold expression.

Kyle might not care, but that did not mean Fury did not care!

Fury continued, "Also, everyone put down your weapons. No one is permitted to carry weapons until the battle at the Helicarriers is over!"

Since things had come this far, they might as well cleanse S.H.I.E.L.D. with blood! Burn it with fire until it returned to its original state, free of impurities and contamination!

Over downtown New York, a thousand meters in the air.

Three Helicarriers formed a triangle, hovering as they rose, each separated by fifty meters. They resembled three steel islands bobbing upon the sea.

At that very moment, a fierce chase was unfolding on the flat top deck of one of the Helicarriers.

A gigantic yellow transforming robot held Natasha in its palm as it ran desperately at full speed.

More than a dozen single-pilot fighter jets buzzed like a swarm of bees, relentlessly pursuing the giant robot from behind.

"Come chase me! If you catch me, I’ll let you heheh."

As Vision ran, he even looked back and used his loudspeaker to deliver a powerful taunt to the group.
