Bloodbath at S.H.I.E.L.D.
S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
Pierce had clearly been driven into a corner. After learning that bases everywhere had been destroyed, he flew into a rage and wanted to make one last desperate stand.
"Emergency alert! Symbol of Peace Kyle has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters with the intent to kill Director Pierce and sabotage Project Insight! All agents are to immediately proceed to the stairwells and intercept him! Any weapons and emergency measures are authorized!!"
"I repeat, the target enemy is Symbol of Peace Kyle!"
The headquarters building’s alarm suddenly blared, sharp and urgent, echoing through every corner and clearly reaching everyone inside.
The technicians and elite agents were stunned. They all put down their busy work, and some even wondered whether they had misheard.
The halls and offices on every floor fell silent for several seconds before erupting into heated discussion as though a hornet’s nest had been kicked.
Mad! They had truly gone mad!!
The number one enemy S.H.I.E.L.D. was targeting this time was actually the Symbol of Peace…
It was like a son trying to beat up his father. Many people felt their minds simply could not process it and could not recover for a while.
"What are you standing around for? Didn’t you hear the order?!"
"Move it! Grab your weapons and come with me!"
Some agents did not hesitate for long. They moved swiftly and decisively, armed themselves according to the alert, shouted to rally the others, and surged toward the stairwells.
"Going after the Symbol of Peace? What kind of joke is this?"
A female agent murmured to herself. Looking at the swiftly moving agents, she could not help tightening her grip on her gun.
If S.H.I.E.L.D.’s break with Captain America had already made many agents suspicious, then S.H.I.E.L.D.’s move against the Symbol of Peace completely woke some of them up.
It was time to choose a side—continue believing in the department superiors, or choose to believe in the Symbol of Peace alone.
The question seemed absurd and ridiculous, but long ago, all the people of New York had already given their answer.
The elevator master switch had been shut off, making normal use impossible.
Kyle did not care. He chose the stairs directly and began walking down from the thirty-sixth floor, near the top of the building.
The screams from the Director’s office still rang in his ears when dense, chaotic footsteps came from the stairwell ahead.
"Get up there!"
"We have to kill the Symbol of Peace!"
A group of Armed Agents poured out from the floor and blocked the stairwell. The moment they saw Kyle, they pulled their triggers and unleashed a barrage of rifle fire.
Smoke Bombs, Flashbangs, and High-Explosive Grenades were mixed in from time to time.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters seemed to be undergoing demolition. The entire building shook without end, while on a floor near the top, surging shockwaves blasted apart doors and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Hydra’s real bases were already gone. These Hydra spies disguised as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had bloodshot eyes and the resolve to die. Ignoring the extent of the damage to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, they used every weapon they had in an attempt to kill Kyle on the spot!
They were determined to strike ruthlessly. Some threw High-Explosive Grenades from just a few meters away, even ignoring the safety of themselves and their teammates.
The results were naturally obvious.
The original stairway was blown away completely. Billowing smoke filled the upper floor, and ashes that symbolized death drifted down in waves.
The surviving agents who had launched the attack all put on Protective Hoods. Uneasy, they began scanning with the Infrared Sights mounted on their guns.
"The target… has disappeared."
"Is he dead?"
"How could that be? He’s the…"
Their conversation came to an abrupt halt. In the corridor thick with black smoke, a dark, towering humanoid silhouette gradually emerged.
Narrow crimson eyes glowed with a faint, sinister light, filled with Inhuman Emotions—violence, slaughter, coldness, and savagery.
Venom, full-coverage state.
"You pieces of trash think that’s enough to kill me?"
The Dark Demon spoke in a hoarse voice. He bared his teeth in a faint, savage grin and took a huge step forward. His towering, bestial dark body brought an extraordinary visual impact.
The agents sucked in cold breaths. Their backs went icy, and the hands holding their guns trembled uncontrollably.
"Demon… it’s that demon…" one of the agents said in terror.
Hydra’s archives described the reasons for its crushing defeat in World War II, including detailed records on its number one enemy, Kyle.
At night, once battle began, that man would transform into a Black Demon with an Immortal Body and wings. He possessed strength and speed far beyond ordinary humans and was a monster one could only abandon resistance against upon encountering!
Monster, go die!
Under the shroud of the Fog of Fear, someone among the agents could not help screaming. A high-explosive grenade was then pulled and hurled fiercely, flying straight at the Dark Demon’s face.
Kyle did not dodge. He suddenly opened his vicious jaws wide and, under the agents’ disbelieving gazes, bit the approaching high-explosive grenade in one bite!
Boom!!
The immensely powerful explosion erupted inside his mouth. Kyle was completely unharmed. Smacking his lips, he blew several rings of black smoke out as if smoking.
"Monster… this is a real monster…"
The agents who witnessed the scene fell into despair. Their fighting spirit vanished completely, and driven by fear, they threw down their guns and turned to flee downstairs.
"Where are you running? Stay right there!" Kyle grinned savagely as a crushing pressure rose from his body and erupted outward in a tangible wave.
The agents still within ten meters felt their legs grow heavy as lead. They staggered and fell forward one after another, and once their heads lowered, they could no longer raise them again.
"Die." Kyle strode forward. Several tough, dark tendrils shot out from his tall, powerful body like bullets leaving a barrel.
In an instant, the tendrils pierced through the agents’ heads and strung their corpses together.
Kyle dragged the corpses by the tendrils and walked down the shattered stairs, leaving behind rows of bloodstained steps.
On the lower floors, fresh teams of agents poured out and began another round of fighting.
Kyle welcomed them all. He slaughtered his way down from the rooftop, using a single tendril as a long rope to string all the corpses together.
Across the thirty-six floors, nearly every level saw a localized battle, yet each one came to a complete end within a short time.
Until he reached the ground floor!
The main lobby on the first floor was utterly silent. When Kyle stepped out of the stairwell, he raised his eyes and saw nearly a hundred agents standing guard in place.
These agents showed no intention of fighting. Upon seeing Kyle in Venom’s full-coverage state, they hurriedly bowed and saluted him, greeting him respectfully. "Greetings, Chief Advisor!"
Chief Advisor?
Kyle paused slightly, suddenly recalling that during World War II, when S.H.I.E.L.D. had first been established, he had created the nominal position of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Chief Advisor to avoid trouble.
"You reacted quickly enough. Otherwise, I might have killed you along with the Hydra spies."
Kyle swept his gaze around the lobby. Under the stare of his crimson, killing-intent-filled eyes, every agent present lowered their heads in trembling fear.
"I’ll leave these to you. I’m going after Alexander Pierce of Hydra."
Kyle gave the order and flicked his left hand forward. The end of a tendril dragged a pile of corpses out from the stairwell.
Likewise, nearly a hundred agents wearing Combat Suits had been bound together, their chests and heads pierced through. Blood still flowed from their wounds, dripping to the floor.
