Little Ancestor, Mysterious Person
Chapter 296: Little Ancestor, Mysterious Person
"Was I… afraid?"
The muscles in Pierce’s face twisted slightly. His hands frantically pressed against his chin, as if trying to stop his teeth from chattering in such an ugly manner. Unfortunately, even his palms trembled up and down along with his jaw. Every inch of muscle in his body displayed signs of instinctive fear.
Sweat soaked through his shirt and dripped onto the scorching deck, hissing as wisps of white steam rose.
"I lost. Completely and utterly lost—so long as this man exists, Hydra will never have a chance to rise again. We can only cower and scrape out an existence in dark, gloomy corners."
Pierce smiled miserably. Like the other four armed guards, he knelt before Kyle, who was fully covered by Venom.
He had not been affected by the oppressive power of Force Field Traction. Rather, unable to see any future in which Hydra could return to the light, the collapse of his faith—his spiritual pillar—had made him lower his head and kneel.
The dim rays of the setting sun fell upon Pierce, making him appear even lonelier and older, like a dog that had lost its home.
"Wouldn’t it have been better if you’d done this from the start? Why go through all that trouble? As long as you’re on Earth, how could you possibly escape?" Kyle shook his head lightly. The strong, resilient Dark Keratin Membrane covering his body began reverting into black liquid threads, which seeped beneath his clothes and vanished as they merged with him.
Before long, he had returned to his silver hair, Shattered Gold Eyes, sharply handsome youthful face, and tall, perfectly sculpted human physique.
Venom transformed into a roomy black trench coat draped over Kyle’s casual clothes.
There was not a trace of blood on him, not even the scent of it. Kyle looked like a gentleman attending a banquet, utterly unlike someone who had just killed people as easily as crushing ants.
Kyle smiled and stepped forward. "Red Skull should count himself lucky. Back then, he touched the Tesseract aboard that aircraft, and was perhaps exiled beyond Earth with his life still intact."
As he passed the armed personnel, the four of them, targeted by the pressure, were practically pressed face-first against the deck. After a final, desperate struggle to preserve their dignity, their heads all lolled to one side as they fainted with foam spilling from their mouths.
Kyle stopped half a meter in front of Pierce and looked coldly down at the back of his bowed head.
"Y-you can’t kill me…" Pierce did not dare look up, his voice trembling.
"Why not?" Kyle shrugged.
Pierce took a deep breath and forced himself to pull together. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Before this, I already informed UN officials, American congressmen, and others that I might be framed and killed. That is a seed. If you kill me like this, that seed will sprout and grow in secret. One day, your inhumane, demonic atrocities will be condemned and rejected by the world!"
"You’re right. That is indeed a potential problem." Kyle nodded in agreement, then smiled. "But you won’t live to see that day. You’re going to die here."
If he truly were the Symbol of Peace in the eyes of the public, perhaps he really would have spared his enemies and ultimately brought them to justice through legal means recognized by society.
Unfortunately, before the empty title of Symbol of Peace, he was Kyle—the one who had crossed worlds and been reborn.
Everything he did was right. If there was an error, then he would erase that error.
Kyle could not be bothered to waste any more words. He lightly snapped his fingers, and golden flames ignited between them. The temperature within several meters instantly rose by more than ten degrees.
"You can’t do this…"
Pierce’s trembling worsened. Sensing death about to descend, he could not help shouting hoarsely, "Little Ancestor! Aren’t you going to act yet? You promised to help me stop the Symbol of Peace! I’m about to die, and you still refuse to show yourself?!"
The slightly comical cry for help carried across the aircraft carrier deck high in the sky, but no one answered.
Little Ancestor?
Kyle frowned and looked around. Aside from the four unconscious armed personnel, there was no one else on the second aircraft carrier.
"Has he suffered a mental breakdown?"
Kyle did not think much of it. Facing Pierce, he flicked his finger and sent that wisp of golden flame flying from his hand.
The golden flame looked as though a gust of wind could extinguish it, yet it contained divine power capable of high-temperature incineration. If it landed on someone’s head, it would likely melt even their skull.
Pierce clutched his head and sprawled on the ground. Just before the golden flame drifted down onto the back of his head, a nearly transparent, subtle ripple suddenly spread through the air.
The golden flame collided with the transparent ripple and gradually annihilated itself, vanishing without a trace.
"Who is it?"
Kyle’s expression turned cold. He swiftly spun around and discovered that, at some unknown point, a tiny "dwarf" had silently appeared behind him.
Less than a meter tall and thin in build, the figure was concealed from head to toe beneath a black hooded trench coat. Its appearance and true physique were completely obscured; it was impossible to tell whether it was human or alien.
"I’ve finally met you." The mysterious person seemed to be smiling, speaking in a hoarse, layered, ethereal voice.
"Are you with Hydra?" Kyle asked coldly. With five meters between them, he could not see the other person’s Ability Cards.
However, the power that had so easily neutralized divine fire just now seemed to carry a heavy spatial aura…
That was right—space!
Having come into contact with the Space Primordial Stone, Kyle could not possibly mistake it. It was definitely a derivative spatial ability.
A mage? A mutant? An artificial being created through Tesseract experiments?
In that brief instant, countless possibilities flashed through Kyle’s mind.
The mysterious person had a pair of small eyes that seemed to be constantly watching Kyle. "I’m not a member of Hydra. That uncle merely helped me find you, and I promised to save his life. My mother once warned me that I must never break my word or betray someone’s trust."
"Did your mother ever warn you to remain wary of your enemies?"
The moment Kyle finished speaking, he lightly tapped the deck with his toes and shot toward the mysterious person at a speed so fast it left an afterimage in his vision. A faint ring of white air surged from where he had stood.
He was not acting so urgently because his killing intent was especially strong. He simply wanted to see the Ability Cards on the other person.
Space reigns supreme; time rules all!
Even the lowest branches of these two types of power were divine abilities that led directly to the mysteries of the universe! That was why Master Gu Yi, with a mortal body, could serve as the strongest guardian resisting repeated multidimensional invasions of Earth alone!
Kyle moved without warning, yet the mysterious person neither retreated nor dodged. Besides, they were only five meters apart. Reading card information required being within three meters; those two meters should not have counted as distance at all—
But ten seconds later.
Kyle was still charging forward at extreme speed, yet the distance between him and the mysterious person remained the original… five meters!
Those short five meters were like an insurmountable chasm, as distant as a Star Domain. No matter how fast he ran forward, he could not close the gap by even a single centimeter.
