Lu Su Wasn’t Good at Handling Straightforward Approaches

Kurumi’s sudden words made Lu Su’s composure crumble in an instant.

But he quickly steadied himself.

Suppressing the shock in his heart, Lu Su grinned and joked, "Who in Great Ming would dare force me? Could it be Ye Diantang?"

His teacher was one of Great Ming’s few Master Card Masters. In all of Great Ming, Ye Zhou was indeed the only one qualified to force him to do something he did not want to do.

Of course, that was only on the surface.

Kurumi was not fooled by Lu Su’s joke. Instead, she said with certainty, "Someone is forcing you."

Though he did not know how his Senior Disciple Sister had found out, Lu Su could not possibly admit it so easily.

Besides, he had no idea how much the tall woman before him actually knew.

With that in mind, Lu Su pretended to have a headache and said, "Senior Disciple Sister, why would you think that?"

"No one is forcing me."

In this situation, he could only first find out why Kurumi had come to that conclusion, then figure out a way to brush it off.

Confessing outright was impossible. Lu Su did not want things to spiral in an uncontrollable direction.

Even though they had already vaguely slipped beyond his control.

Hearing Lu Su’s question, Kurumi fell silent for a moment before bringing up a small matter from Donglai. "Donglai."

"You used your ability on them."

Lu Su was stunned for a moment, then began recalling what his Senior Disciple Sister could be referring to.

If he remembered correctly, he had only met Kurumi once while working in Donglai.

That had been when a Secret Realm suddenly appeared in Laiyang County.

To deal with the threat posed by the Secret Realm, he had no choice but to ask his Senior Disciple Sister to go to Donglai as a safeguard.

Though in the end, Lu Su had broken through the Secret Realm with the newly created Aizen.

"Wait, Aizen." Lu Su froze at the thought and murmured inwardly, "Illusion."

He remembered. Back then, right in front of Kurumi, he seemed to have had Aizen cast Illusion on Zeng Bo and Lu Yan.

"Senior Disciple Sister noticed?"

Lu Su truly had not expected Kurumi to notice such a detail.

All he could say was that, as a Gold Grade Card Master back then, he had still underestimated a Diamond Grade Card Master.

"But Senior Disciple Sister shouldn’t have been able to conclude that someone was forcing me from that alone."

A new doubt rose in Lu Su’s heart.

Suppressing it, he put on a slightly confused expression. "Senior Disciple Sister, what do you mean?"

Playing dumb was a good choice at this moment. Though Lu Su could have explained that he had just arrived in Donglai and was unfamiliar with the place, so having Aizen use Illusion had merely been a precaution.

However, Kurumi seemed to genuinely believe that Lu Su did not understand what she meant and calmly explained, "Hypnosis."

"You used it on them."

Lu Su felt helpless for a moment. From his Senior Disciple Sister, he deeply understood what it meant for sincerity to be the ultimate weapon.

Kurumi had completely blocked off his path of playing dumb.

Yet he still did not answer directly, instead asking, "Why do you think hypnotizing them is connected to someone forcing me?"

"You admitted it."

"?"

Lu Su had just wanted to refute Kurumi when a pale hand covered his mouth. "I wasn’t—"

After cutting Lu Su off, Kurumi lowered her hand and looked down at her full thighs.

Though only half of them were visible.

She softly said, "The two assassination attempts on Sima Huai and you."

"They weren’t done by the same group."

Back in Donglai, the Vice President and President had been assassinated one after another. Those unaware of the details would most likely lump the two incidents together.

But Kurumi had investigated.

She did not know who had made the first move against Lu Su, but the ones who had targeted Sima Huai the second time—

Were the Spirit Summoning Society.

"Junior Brother."

"You are Lu Xi."

"Right?"

The moment he heard the name "Lu Xi," Lu Su’s heart nearly stopped. His knuckles turned white as he unconsciously clenched his fists in shock.

But the moment he heard Sima Huai’s name, he had already felt something was wrong.

Sure enough, Kurumi directly unleashed a devastating move.

Faced with his Senior Disciple Sister’s interrogation, Lu Su first scratched his cheek, then gave a dry laugh. "Haha."

"Senior Disciple Sister, don’t joke around. How could I be Lu Xi?"

Yet when he saw his Senior Disciple Sister staring straight at him, his voice involuntarily weakened.

He wailed inwardly, "I’m done for. Isn’t she seeing right through me, down to my underwear?"

But faced with Lu Su’s reaction, Kurumi merely pursed her lips and shifted her perfect body over to sit beside him.

The youth felt his hand gently taken, then enveloped in softness.

"When you went to Donglai, Lu Xi appeared in Donglai."

"When you left, Lu Xi disappeared."

"And the Spirit Summoning Society even assassinated Sima Huai, who had a conflict with you."

What Kurumi did not say was that, according to her investigation, Lu Xi had never done anything harmful to the Association since appearing.

He had even helped the Association.

For example, he had informed the Donglai Card Master Association that there was a Jade Grade Demon in the Sea Secret Realm.

Besides, how could the Spirit Summoning Society possibly gain such an extraordinarily talented card master out of nowhere without a sound?

Fortunately, Lu Xi’s identity had basically only been active in Donglai so far. Aside from Kurumi, who had deliberately investigated him, he had not drawn the attention of anyone else.

Yet upon hearing all that, Lu Su’s first reaction was actually that such long and complicated sentences were rather difficult for Kurumi.

But he quickly suppressed his wandering thoughts.

After a long silence, Lu Su clasped her soft hand in return and calmly said, "Nothing will happen. No one is forcing me."

"Trust me, okay, Senior Disciple Sister?"

"And I won’t do anything to betray Teacher."

That truly was Lu Su’s honest thought. He knew he and Jin Ping would inevitably clash one day. It was merely a matter of sooner or later.

After all, he had long since been branded with Bai Yueming’s mark.

If he had not accidentally become a member of the Spirit Summoning Society when he was still a Black Iron Grade Card Master, he would probably be worrying about how to catch Jin Ping’s trail right now.

How could it be like this, where he had successfully climbed to a fairly high position within the Spirit Summoning Society and could occasionally fleece them a little?

But sooner or later, Lu Su would put on a performance for Jin Ping: the enemy was at Honnō-ji.

Feeling the warmth from his hand, Kurumi said nothing more.

She merely quietly watched the youth beside her.

After a long while, Kurumi finally responded in a low voice.

".Mm."

Then, she looked at Lu Su with eyes that revealed no emotion, her tone showing a rare trace of fluctuation. "If anything happens, remember to come find me."

"I don’t want to be alone anymore."

She chose to respect her Junior Brother’s choice.

Hearing this, Lu Su nodded heavily and said solemnly, "I understand. Don’t worry."

As his words fell, the living room fell silent.

A moment later, Kurumi stood up and said softly, "I’ll go first."

"My class is about to start."

After seeing Kurumi off, Lu Su could not help but let out a long breath inwardly.

He had never imagined that he had already exposed himself in front of Kurumi back in Donglai.

Fortunately, the final result was not too bad.

He weakly buried his face in the sofa and muttered, "Why does it feel like I’m getting farther and farther down the road of being a scumbag?"

Heaven knew that everything he had said to Kurumi just now had been sincere.

"Seriously."

"How did things turn out like this?"

"Xiao Luo, it’s really great that you’re okay."

In Jizhou Town, a short-haired woman grinned as she patted the shoulder of the youth beside her.

"You were missing for so long that I was ready to burn offerings for you next year."

The two were naturally Lu Su and Wen Jing.

Hearing that, Lu Su tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Then, Sister Wen, remember to burn me a little extra. There must be terrible inflation down there these days."

He remembered that the largest denomination from Heaven and Earth Bank he had seen was one hundred billion.

Hearing Lu Su’s words, Wen Jing grinned and burst into unrestrained laughter without a care for her image. "Hahaha, definitely."

Once the joking ended, Lu Su got to the point. "How did that previous siege operation go?"

Because he had been transported to Great Britain, Lu Su had no idea what had happened after the day of the siege operation.

However, after returning to Jizhou Town, he could clearly sense that the atmosphere in the city had grown somewhat bleak, and there were many unfamiliar faces.

It seemed the situation had not been good.

At Lu Su’s question, Wen Jing instantly wiped the grin from her face and said bitterly, "The city lost quite a lot of people."

"But many of them died in that Deathmatch Space."

"After Master Ji arrived, there were no more casualties."

Lu Su was not surprised by Wen Jing’s words. He had already discovered in the Deathmatch Space that as long as a card master had not died, they would be continuously attacked by demons—and they were all enhanced demons.

Those who could survive were either card masters like Wen Jing, who were good at playing hide-and-seek, or exceptionally powerful card masters who could withstand a succession of battles without being defeated.

Of course, they could also be like Lu Su and directly crush the Deathmatch Space.

Lu Su could not help but sigh inwardly.

After a while, Wen Jing collected herself and returned to her carefree manner. "It’s good that you’re back, Xiao Luo."

"Otherwise, I’d have to get used to someone new all over again."

Compared with newcomers whose abilities and habits she did not know, she naturally preferred Lu Su, whose strength was reliable and who had worked with her for some time.

"True." Lu Su nodded in agreement, then sighed again. "So it’s our turn to go on a mission again?"

Wen Jing sighed as well. "Yeah."

"Since that stronghold has already vanished, we’ll have to investigate again if we want to obtain the experiment data."

The target stronghold from the previous siege operation had turned to dust with Ji Weirui’s attack.

Instead, many demon strongholds in the surrounding area had suffered devastating destruction.

In retaliation, the Demon Army had recently mobilized large numbers of troops and amassed them along the border.

Though a major battle between the Shuběi Army and the Demon Army had become unavoidable.

The Shuběi Army still wanted to obtain information related to the Demonization Experiment, but it could no longer launch a large-scale siege operation like before.

"Let’s go. Time to work."

Wen Jing shook her head, then led Lu Su away.
