Observer Uatu
"This is an Infinity Stone. I should study it first."
Chen Mu returned to his laboratory in high spirits, took out the Eye of Agamotto, and curiously turned it over in his hand.
The Infinity Stones could be called the most miraculous objects in the Marvel World. There were six of them, representing time, space, reality, power, mind, and soul. Each possessed supreme power, and if gathered together, they could complement one another and unleash unimaginable strength.
It was said that the Infinity Stones had been forged from the essences of the six singularities at the dawn of the universe.
They were practically the most powerful treasures in the universe, capable of influencing or even changing the entire universe according to their wielder’s will.
Ancient One’s Time Stone possessed the attribute of time. It allowed its user to reach any point in time, whether the distant past or the far-off future, to observe or even experience that era.
At the same time, as an Infinity Stone, it contained infinite energy of its own.
The Time Stone could fully manipulate time, even causality.
In the original future, Doctor Strange had even used this stone against Dormammu, the Lord of the Dark Dimension, trapping him in an endless time loop and forcing him into an agreement to abandon his invasion of this world.
That alone showed how powerful the Time Stone was.
Now that he had obtained such an item, Chen Mu naturally intended to study it thoroughly before considering using it to speak directly with the Observer.
Having acquired such a treasure, he had instead pushed the matter of the Observer to the back of his mind.
When Chen Mu left, Ancient One had also casually given him a Book of Agamotto. It was the accompanying spellbook, recording the applications of certain time spells and making it easier for Chen Mu to study the Time Stone.
Thus, after returning to his workshop, Chen Mu spent an entire day completely mastering several simple time spells.
Of course, his greatest gain was actually using the system to analyze the Time Stone.
To Chen Mu’s surprise, the Time Stone was already an exceptionally perfect treasure. There was simply no way to upgrade it further.
Its production time, meanwhile, required a full year.
That was neither especially long nor especially short. After all, constructing Nezha had taken only two months, while an Infinity Stone required an entire year.
One could imagine that the Infinity Stones were indeed even more powerful than the Eternals.
"If Infinity Stones were brought into a fantasy world, they would definitely be treasures of law. By comprehending the principles within them, one could master that law. And the Time Stone contains the law of time."
After fully analyzing the Time Stone and ensuring that he could manufacture it, Chen Mu removed it from the Eye of Agamotto. He prepared to try speaking directly with the Observer.
With a clear purpose in mind, Chen Mu held the Time Stone in his hand and felt endless energy flowing from it into his body. When he opened his eyes again, he abruptly saw a massive shadow vaguely appear before him.
It was a figure with an enormous head, seemingly dressed in clothes with a very high collar. His eyes carried an ethereal feeling, as though they contained the entire world within them.
He seemed very far from Chen Mu, yet also incredibly close. Looking at him, it was as if the very concept of distance had vanished.
This shadow seemed as distant as though worlds separated them, yet as close as though it stood right before him.
In any case, the sensation it gave Chen Mu was exceedingly contradictory.
"Hello, I’m Chen Mu. Are you the Observer?"
Chen Mu raised his head, looked at the phantom, and greeted him amicably.
"Chen Mu, I know you. A traveler from another world."
The Observer lowered his head as though looking at Chen Mu and spoke softly. His voice crossed the entire world to reach Chen Mu’s ears.
In this world, only Chen Mu could hear that voice.
"Since the moment you came to this world, every action you have taken has been under my observation. The impact you have had upon this world is also one possibility among countless others."
Chen Mu remained silent. He had not expected the Observer to have noticed him from the moment he transmigrated here.
However, the Observer seemingly had never interfered with any of his actions. That was just as Ancient One had said: the Observer would not actively interfere with the occurrence or outcome of anything.
"My name is Uatu. Among my people, I am responsible for observing Earth. I must say, the Earth of your world is completely different from the Earths of other worlds."
Observer Uatu calmly said to Chen Mu, "Your appearance has allowed me to see an entirely different path of development."
"Compared to other alien races, human civilization is far more interesting to me. It often gives rise to countless Super Heroes, who play indispensable roles in event after event."
"And you have chosen an entirely different path, leading your people to face the various crises that will arise in the future. This is a path that has never appeared across countless multiverses."
"You have chosen the power of the collective rather than the power of the individual. I am also very curious about the potential it will possess."
"…"
Perhaps he had never conversed with anyone before, or perhaps he had held it in for far too long, but Uatu spoke without pause and concealed almost nothing from Chen Mu.
Uatu had been Earth’s Observer for who knew how many years and had never spoken to anyone else. Now that he had encountered someone who could speak directly with him, he naturally told Chen Mu everything he knew.
He had not actively interfered with reality, nor had he sought Chen Mu out to speak with him, so he had not violated his people’s rules.
"As Observers, do you truly never interfere with the workings of any world?"
Chen Mu still cared deeply about this. Just as Uatu had said, the path he was taking was vastly different from that of every other multiverse in Marvel.
This was a world of Super Heroes. In every multiverse, Super Heroes played crucial roles in all major future events.
Yet Chen Mu had chosen a path completely different from theirs.
China did not need Super Heroes, but in China, everyone could be a hero.
When faced with crises that might arise in the future, every Chinese person with power would step forward.
That was the character of this nation. That was its traditional virtue.
Because his path was too unconventional, Chen Mu truly worried that the Observer might stop him and interfere with all his actions.
After all, Uatu had immediately seen through his origins: a visitor from another world.
Who knew whether Uatu might use that as a reason to prevent everything he did?
